So going by Badlands view, he was given the reassurances, offered a pay rise and extra bonuses.

Surely now, we can see a new man in with those reassurances given to him plus a few quid extra from the money from Potter.
Get rid of the Ayews, Baston and a nice dollop from tje James sale, cut monthly costs with Fer, Olsson etc etc.
Take all that into account and we are in no rush to sell Vdh, Grimes, Byers, Mcburnie etc etc and add a few new faces albeit without needing to break the bank.

I think we're suffering greatly for the catastrophic mistakes they and our former owners made over the last few years, spending way beyond our means trying to cling to the Premier League, but don't find a great deal of fault in what they've done this season (DJ to Leeds excepted). The situation is what it is, we're massively in the sht and you can't just ignore it or you end up in administration. The financial realities of this division are harsh unless you have billionaire backers willing to bankroll you with tens and hundreds of millions of pounds worth of personal debt and stadium purchases.
On the football side I've been delighted to see players I've followed through the development ranks finally get the chances they genuinely deserve. So the decision to flog as many of the failures and mercenaries as possible, and not buy more, gets two big thumbs up from me. Absolutely love watching the boys play (not incl. set pieces).
With Graham Potter there's little anyone could realistically do when a PL club comes in and meets a manager's contractual release clause. They will always be able to offer more in wages, transfer money and level of competition. Good luck to him, no hard feelings at all. | | | |
