Who will be watching? First one kicks off in 24 hours time.
The Democrats have pulled Joe back from his campaign trail recently to get him prepared, so hopefully it will be a decent exchange.
Unfortunately they don’t seem to have great confidence as they have spent the last month looking for any dirt they can dig up so Joe can use if he gets stuck.
It’s no coincidence that this vote influencing Facebook algorithm story is being shamelessly and inaccurately made into a race issue on the eve of the debates. So transparent and disingenuous, it’s a shame politics has come to this on this level where black people are being used in this way to score political points. I would be furious if I was them, but it does seem a lot of people are not falling for this one and calling it out for what it is.
People finally seem to be getting wise to this political race baiting which is refreshing to see.
It’s also telling that in the week of the debate they try and paint Trump as a tax evasion offender. I think that’s what they wanted the tax returns to show, they seem to have got annoyed when it turns out his tax returns were fine in accordance to what his companies profits were - but decided to run with it anyway. Any news is good news in their mind as it’s another thing Joe can use when in a tricky spot.
But I hope the discussions remain political and doesn’t turn into some form of gossip peddling reality TV episode.
Although I think there should be some kind of drinking game involved if it does turn that way, how many times Biden completely loses his thread of thought and blurts out “I mean, think about it...” you have to take a shot. 
I will be watching with great interest anyway.

Debate concluded. Was not a very good one for either candidate, lots of shouting, lots of name calling, lots of interrupting.
Biden did surprisingly well, but he did have some great help from Chris Wallace, especially when he kept jumping in when Biden was on the ropes. Frustrating debate.
I would say however that more neutrals may have been swayed to vote Biden than Trump after that. It really did seem like he was debating Wallace more than Biden at times, a point The President actually made halfway through.
Will probably see some more come out about the performance of Wallace in the coming hours.

People tend to vote the winner who they want to win as opposed to who did.
To say Biden won is a bit of a stretch, but he came out of it the better because he was allowed to speak, was asked softball questions and was stopped from being pressed too much.
Where as Trump had contrived and dishonestly framed questions and was interrupted or cut off every time he tried to make a point.
It would be impossible to say Trump won the debate, he wasn’t given the chance to. But it seems too kind to Biden to say he won, it was given to him. | |

The Republicans, no doubt about it. The Democrats are trying to push for that to be the last debate, for obvious reasons.
Biden wasn’t given the opportunity to expose his ability really. Chris Wallace did a lot of the debating for him, especially on climate change. He was protected throughout.
I would hope in the next debate it is more about those two than Wallace. Ideally he would be replaced for someone who would rather be more anonymous than turn it into his own show where he controls the narrative carefully. | |

i think the Trump campaign made a mistake saying that Biden has dementia and generally portraying him as a mentally ill bumbling idiot. That was always going to downplay expectations of Biden and anything better than that would look good for Biden.
After all, if Trump can't annihilate someone like that then it's a poor performance.

He works for FOX yes, he is well known as an outlier. He is a registered Democrat.
There were major concerns about his impartiality coming into the debates, I ignored them as didn’t think anyone would have the nerve to be biased acting as moderator on such a world stage.

You're right that the debate doesn't show that he hasn't got dementia but it doesn't show that he has either. Rudy Giuliani is another American politician who has declined alarmingly recently and if Trump has any sense he'll tell him to keep quiet from now on.
It is a terrible disease as I know from the experience of watching my father's decline over five years before he died almost six years ago. He didn't recognise anyone in the family for the last 18 months of his life which destroyed my mother after 60 years of marriage. It's not something that should be diagnosed by amateurs in order to score political points.
Biden doesn't inspire confidence that he has all his faculties in place but it may just be old age rather than dementia. | |

It was the only times he could talk. It was a sham.
Did you watch the Debate? It has nothing to do with “Trumps usual thing”, it was horrific. I don’t think anybody who watched it will think otherwise regardless of what side of the fence you sit. It was literally Wallace and Biden vs Trump.
My partner who isn’t really into politics was watching it with me and her face was a picture. Her exact words were “he is a bit of a d*ck isn’t he?”, in reference to Wallace.
The Republicans will absolutely want the next round of debates. I think they were caught on the hop by this and so many questions left unanswered by Biden, he won’t want to be pressed on them again.
I’d like him to be asked what he feels about Kamala Harris instructing people to donate to a fund to bail criminals out that get arrested in the riots for burning down people’s homes. No doubt Wallace would have ensured that was brought up had it been Trump or Pence. [Post edited 30 Sep 2020 14:12]
