I reckon Hourihane is the big signing, full international, proven class act at this level, can't see anything trumping it surely?

I have read conflicting reports on his contract sitauation. One says it is up in June 2021 (Irsh examiner) another June 2022 (Birminghm evening post) .

Pretty sure it’s 06/22 based on a number of sites + Smith’s comments about wanting him back in the summer for next season.

That said if we go up who knows.

Blooming heck. Have just had a look through this thread to see any updates over the past couple of days and I notice that we’ve now had the full house from Resloven. The Trust, Joey and Roque Mesa...

It’s back to the scfc guestbook c. 2018. Lol.

Doesn’t fit with the ‘keeping it under the hat’ criteria...

Good signing though. Very hopeful with both him and Morris. They look like very encouraging additions.

It's intriguing as the OP article suggests something over and above Hourihane and Morris is under the radar.

Hourihane is big, but Bennett was bigger and no big fuss.

All suggests the BIG signing is still under wraps........

Ah I thought the article said it wasn’t Morris and Hourihane wasn’t mentioned.

Fair enough then! Cooper did say we weren’t just in loan market so you never know.

Yeah, keeps us on the edge of our seats, waiting for your next breaking news alert!

Re MGW, pal of mine has a place down the marina and says another player has moved into MGW's old pad, so either he's not coming back or is being upgraded to a penthouse to appease De Villiers !

Hourihane will prob play in MGW's slot. So the plot thickens who the Big one is - possibly a more experienced CDM to solidify/ provide backup for Grimes ?

Reading the last few posts it seems a few are getting a tad greedy. I think Hourihane is the big signing but you never know I suppose 🙄

I read the 'positive' aspect of the article as the reluctance to sign Watters as he didn't pass the due diligence test. Yes, Hourihane wasn't mentioned but didn't Keith say he was asked to keep what he knew under wraps ? He has to be the big signing.

No, people are just intrigued regarding a reference to a signing that the 'club are keeping quiet about'.

Seeing as Hourihane and the American have been heavily linked to us all over the press its a fair assumption to reach that there's another player on the way?

Or is this now not the case and the mystery man was Hourihane all along?

He was asked to keep the text he had this morning quiet about Hourihane being completed.

I’d have thought we would do well to get another big signing now as we had to pay a loan fee for Hourihane aswell. Never know though, we are still a player down from start of month.

Something is being kept quiet, that’s for sure and it isn’t Morris.

This is the one that's getting us all excited - because of course Morris or Hourihane were not kept quiet.

Swansea city offered to buy a player off Liverpool that had one year on his deal. The £8m was a good offer Liverpool did not accept it and accepted an offer from Stoke for Joey Allen. of £13m with good wages. Joe Allen did not need to go there. He was on good wages anyway.

Had he declined to go to Stoke and instead decided on very good wages to "fight to get back in the first team picture " for 3 -4 months then his value would half from £13m to say £6.5m. Swansea could then offer £5m and give the £3m saved to Joey in wages. Joey was in the driving seat and could have helped Swansea out by runing down his contract either for 6 months or 12 months.

Stoke have out bid Swansea for Allen, Woods, Ince they overpaid every time and the players have not lived up to expectation. They owe their owners £180m more than Swansea owe theirs.

Roque mesa who had a 3 year deal became an unwanted player and told Huw Jenkins he would only go to his boyhood favourite club and would not conside a move anywhare else. Roque went to Sevilla and Swansea took a hit. Joey went where he was told and Liverpool cashed in.

So the Huw Jenkins you keep praising was crap then allowing Mesa to dictate.
You really are weak at debate

If Jenkins was so good he should have told Mesa he will go where we get the best deal.....yet another example of how Jenkins mismanaged things

Re your last sentence risc, in reality we arent down any players as for the last three months we havent had mgw, palmer and gyokeres have hardly played so imo we are up two players but that's only if they get good game minutes.

Slavery ended 150 years ago. The Chairman of Swansea City cannot force a player under contract to the club to go somewhere he his wife and his children do not want to go. Quite rightly he accespted less money to ease the player not wanted nby the manager out of the club.

The chairman of Liverpool could not force Joey to go to Stoke if he prefered to go to Swansea. Joey did not prefer to go to Swansea. If Joey wanted to come to Swansea it was something he could have engineered with a it of cooperation.

Prstn might have offered more for Jamal Lowe. This does not matter Jamal wanted to go to Swansea.

Did Harry Wilson want to come to Swansea?

We were £5m short of Stokes offer, there was no bid accepted nor was their any bid incoming from us which actually could be accepted as we were outbid by Stoke City. Wilson was ready to go to Burnley for example in pre season, premier league football, Liverpool would not accept a lower offer. You don’t bully Liverpool.

Mesa held the cards, we needed him off the pay roll.

Correct the player don't have to go anywhere if the deasl not right fort the player himself,Joe chose to go to stoke because they offered him afar more lucrative deal than we did.

Do you think he could sign for us then when we were offering over £5m less? That’s not how football transfers work.

I don’t know why United, Arsenal and the big 6 don’t just go around offering a few quid for any player they like the look of if it’s the players choice. Mental to even think it works like that. If United came in and bid £4m for Rodon but Spurs were offering £11m, do you actually think we would be accepting the bid off United because that’s what Joey wants?

No I didn't say that what I said was he signed for stoke because they offered better terms than us to the player if we offered better terms but 5 million less Liverpool would have every right to turn the transfer down it got suit both parties if it don't suit oner or the other they both can say no as there is a contract they can't make player go and player can't chose if price not met

I don't disagree the big one would have been CH, but reading this article it seems as if Cooper wanted to atleast replace the three lads that left so I wouldn't be surprised to see a permanent come in now, suppose it depends on how much we have to give Villa in regards to loan fee.
