...another victim of 'racism'.

What do you think should happen to the Police Officer?

It's not racism. But.

I'd be far more concerned about the number of people who get shot dead or killed in the USA by police full stop. The officer involved here was barely out of probation but is walking around with a gun he can fire at will.

We've had the George Floyd murder, Brianna Taylor, the "I thought it was my taser" incident and now this.

All the while a live shot has never been discharged in anger by South Wales Police. I know which police force I'd rather be protected by.

If he didn't fire the gun a girl gets stabbed.

Facts eh

Read DwightYorke's post above for the truth, you can find the video online yourself if you doubt him.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/20

In this video you can see the boy as the officer is running after him. The boy is standing there with his hands up. He doesn't suddenly turn or appear. He isn't carryin a gun, he has his hands up.

https://www.9news.com.au/world

How many times eh? At the worst the boy threw the gun behind the fence before giving up. He surrendered, he wasn't armed when facing the officer.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Police shootings are extremely common. I encourage you to watch some of the bodycam footage released from other incidents. These aren't isolated incidents. Police officers are put in life and death situations daily in the USA. Bodycams are relatively new so there are only a few hundred videos available at the moment. More are uploaded daily though.

I've only ever seen three in which it is clear the officer is in the wrong. The Brianna Taylor and George Floyd videos are two of those three.

The numerous videos where police officers are injured or killed by persons they're chasing and giving every chance to surrender are definitely the most difficult to watch.

Again that's the same video. Try this Gif I've captured from one of the CCTV cameras you don't wish to look at. The boy is running with the gun in his right hand, he stops, raises his left hand, turns partially whilst keeping his right hand side out of the officer's sight and then quickly turns around fully whilst simultaneously removing his right hand from his pocket. The officer can't see that the boy threw the gun behind the fence as the boy deliberately concealed that action.

The screen capture from the body camera doesn't show this as the boy is out of frame before it conveniently pauses the millisecond he turns around fully, raising the right hand he deliberately concealed from the officer for multiple seconds.

(I've put a space between the letters "e" and "d" in media so the Gif doesn't automatically show to those who don't wish to see it - simply remove the spaces to load it)

Yes he does. Nobody is disputing that. He's fully facing him for less than a second, after raising his right arm a significant time after initially raising his left hand. When the boy begins to quickly fully turn and raise his right hand, the officer is then forced to gamble as to whether the boy is holding the gun or not. If the boy had the gun and he had not shot, the officer, like many of his colleagues who have been in that exact situation, would be dead.

When you shoot at strangers and attempt to run away whilst holding a gun, you can understand why the officer did not trust that the person was not holding the gun. He should have dropped it or shown both hands at the same time - not raise one hand then fiddle with the gun in your pocket whilst deliberately concealing your actions from the officer.

There's a reason LeBron deleted his Tweets of faux outrage very quickly.

The boy resisted arrest when he decided to run with the gun.
Police officers are not mind readers or Neo from the Matrix...it was a chase on foot in the dark, the boy was armed and the officer had every reason to believe his own life was in danger.

If the kid put the gun down and his hands up when the police showed up, and didn't run, he'd still be alive.

Living rent free in your head.

In this case the young woman was quite clearly out of control and a danger to others. I’m not sure whether the police officer could have stopped her in another way. Taser or shooting to disable rather than kill. Presumably the investigation will look at that. Which is the way it should work.

Thankfully she didn’t have a gun that she’d used to kill several people otherwise they’d have taken her for a Burger King rather than kill her.

”... or shooting to disable rather than kill.”

That’s just in the films, Lis. Hand guns aren’t very accurate and we’re taught, so I’d imagine are the Yanks, to aim for the central body mass. Anything else is just fanciful.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Don’t be silly, you can shoot someone’s finger off that’s on the trigger, or shoot a knife out of someone’s hand and if you do it at the right angle can make it fling back and pin the other assailant to the wall by his lapel.

But in all seriousness, you are correct. If you shoot someone in the leg or arm, they still have their weapon and still have the capability to use it. Mess up that shot and there is a high chance they would panic and use it. I’m afraid if you reside in America and take weapons out on the street and start using them, continue to do so when the police arrive then there is a high probability you will be shot.

I saw Brianna Taylor being mentioned on here too. The police had very little alternative there. They were being shot at through a door, they returned fire to neutralise the threat. Again if her partner hadn’t shot at police in an enclosed environment then she would still be alive. In my opinion he should be on trial for manslaughter and attempted murder.

What is becoming a real problem in society however, is these incidents being lifted on high to pretend they are evidence of racism. When you show it happens to all races in proportion to their crime rate you are told that “we are looking at this problem first”.

It’s vile and dishonest and I have zero time for it.

I see the BBC simply quoted one of Biden's aides who said this was simply a case of inherent racism. Putting it out there; leading the headline with skin colour.

This is a case of a woman very likely about to take the life of another. In such a blind rage, armed police officers weren't enough to deter her. They protected the would-be victim by killing the perpetrator.

How blatant must the act of violence be on the black attacker's part for the police not to be accused of racism? After the stabbing?

As for LeBron James, his tweet is a call to violence against an officer who very likely saved a life. Will he be banned from Twitter? Does it work both ways? Of course not.

Individual responsibility is being diluted in the vast vat of artificial oppression, and it's pathetic.

Lebron is an idiot of the highest order. He’s embarrassing.

During the Taylor inquest he was also encouraging violence and rioting demanding “justice”. Someone asked him what he thought of the new details that emerged, he said “I haven’t seen everything on that yet”.

Of course those details were that they had a warrant for her house and wasn’t some random killing, the fact there was a dead body in the boot of a rental car under her name, there was clear evidence of her being part of a drug running operation and that the police came under fire first.

With regards to this latest case, the dishonest media immediately tried to suggest it was some sort of revenge for the Chauvin sentence. “Moments after the Chauvin guilty verdict was delivered, police shoot black 16 year old in Columbus” was one introduction to the story. No context, other than a false one.

Criminal.

Yes I recall reading that. This is a false and dangerous narrative with very, very absurd implications - as if the police manufactured the Bryant incident as an excuse to murder a black person. What planet are we on? Seriously now, how can anything so outrageously tenuous can be printed by mainstream media?

Dwight, it seems the volatile nature of police encounters, often with people who are committing serious crimes, is lost on some people. It isn't afternoon tea on the Thames, these are very dangerous, charged situations where a split-second decision could be the difference between seeing the next sunrise or not.

EDIT - For those dubious of the clear media motive of inciting more interracial problems, answer this. Do you think if Bryant actually killed her would-be victim, you'd know anything about it? Or if Bryant and her would-be victim were both white?

The protesters, BLM, the media don't truly care about black people dying. If they did, they'd be addressing the much, much higher rates of intraracial homicides, crime and gang mentality which are reasons for the majority of black people being killed by police.

That is quite brilliant and should expose the rank hypocrisy of this narrative.

The left, love to hate, mistrust and question Police, often from the comfort of all white milieu .

It is war out there. Either the criminals win or the Police. Fxck the police .indeed.

Finally a child,a 13 yr old of today is often no angel and perfectly capable of lethal force. I really do think think many have really experienced a weapon of offence,a firearm or Blade being thrust towards them.

Nobody wants to be arrested.

You either go quietly or suffer consequences

I've shot at targets from 25 yards with a pistol. It's hard enough to hit a 12 inch target from 25 yards. Admittedly it was an old pistol though, this was over 30 years ago. Modern pistols don't have the strong recoil older handguns did.

Loh, I used an old Webley once, I couldn't hit a barn door with it! I was Ok with a .22 though.....indoors!

I wouldn't want to do it either. Thing is, not living there, not experiencing the life, it's harder to judge.

On the face of it, with what I've seen and read this shooting of the girl with the knife is entirely justified. The police are under so much pressure after BLM and what the new POTUS has said

What we see is often media driven witch hunting and it's hard to judge from the comfy seat in from of my laptop without having absolutely all the evidence.

I still think shooting the 13 year old boy was dodgy. Bryant seemed to deserve it though.

This attitude taken is typical of your bog standard, brainwashed leftie;

- If my side can manufacture outrage and claim some kind of moral high ground from an incident...then we run with it, cause division, support rioters etc.

- If a similar incident happens that contradicts my side's narrative, then we ignore it. We ignore it so we don't have to think and be morally consistent. We ignore it because we cannot possibly win the argument on this one. We attack the story and we attack the source of the story.

But she didn’t have a gun so the situation is not quite the same. Any shot would have stopped her.

I concur, its very much dependent on training , the individual's self control , the distance , your eyes sight, the weapon and calibre you're using you'd be extremely fortunate to hit your target just to disable him .
