Uncertainty will also continue throughout the month right up to the eve of the new season fixtures. However this week the decisions to be made are all surrounding Steve Cooper, will it be Fulham, will it be Palace, will it be chips or jacket spuds, we’ll have to wait and see. 1 Cooper latest above Click here to subscribe to us on Twitter

| The week ‘ Cooper must go’ to everyone’s benefit on 18:01 - Jun 28 by Whiterockin | I can't see him being with us next season after this. |
He will if Fulham and Palace don’t bite the bullet. It’s pretty obvious he wasn’t first choice for either. I’d have been happy enough with him staying a month ago. He clearly wants to move on and we don’t seem to be putting up much of a fight to make him stay. Can’t wait for him to go now. As far as I can see He’d rather be somewhere else The teams he’s been linked with would rather someone else We’d prefer a new manager and the compensation I can see him being here, not wanting to be here and the club not wanting him here as a potential outcome.

Massive grief be flowing his way from the East Stand, I'd imagine, but who knows, I hope not because players are bound to be affected.

Horrible scenario isn’t it? He never had much connection with the fans. If he’s here against his own will and the clubs will, it’s only going to take a couple of drab defeats and the knives will be out. Step up Fulham ffs

I thought you’d got 75% from some WOL poll. Of course fans support him in the ground, I’ll be doing the same if he’s still here when we’re allowed back. Get behind the team, the manager is an extension of that. Doesn’t mean I don’t want a clean break as soon as possible. I agree. It’s different at the ground though. It’s difficult to barrack the manager and support the team simultaneously. Hopefully, Fulham will take that out of our hands.

. You're absolutely right, it's all about our local Club isn't it. For us jacks. Steve will move on, he has earned the right. But what about the faux fans on here that clearly do not properly support our Club ? Should they move on too ? It's becoming insulting , the way they continuously undermine our home Club.

Agreed. Although the only thing I’ll disagree on is that I would prefer he moved on a month ago too. His style of football is unappealing, simple and has no place in the top level of the modern game. As we’ve seen twice now, it has also become next to impossible to even make it to the top level playing this way, and that was with the highest-paid player in the league and several of the best young players from the PL, not to mention our own good young players and better scouting and recruitment in the past few windows. Ayew is gone and his well of u17s is beginning to run dry, so this season is going to be a lot different and far more difficult for him to navigate. If Cooper couldn’t do it these past few seasons playing his way, he’s not going to have much of a chance next year. I think it’s beyond time for us to cut our losses here, and take the fee that is being offered in order to just get Cooper out and move forward as a club. It is seriously beginning to look untenable all the way around at this point. There are plenty of good options out there that would fit better and offer more than Cooper would to us next season and it doesn’t make sense to jettison them for just a little more cash, especially if it runs the risk of us enduring another season of Cooperball.

Who have Fulham wanted to offer the job to other than Cooper? Surely Cooper is Fulham’s first choice, they have got rid of Parker a matter of hours ago and it seems like all the noises pointing to Cooper being appointed fairly shortly. Palace did prefer the guy looking to be next Everton boss and the ex Dortmund manager though, that’s true. But that company is incredible, only to be expected. As for the club preferring a new manager. Not sure what that is based on really, unless you mean some of the fans on here when you say “we”, as opposed to the club itself? Cooper has been successful each year he has been here on the meagre budgets the club has been providing him. He’s an owners dream in that respect, low investment and fair potential for high returns... anyone who genuinely thinks the owners want rid of Cooper hasn’t thought it through. The club is now in a precarious position now, anything post Cooper is a complete gamble. Anyone’s guess. Doesn’t stop people making these things up though. [Post edited 29 Jun 2021 2:34]

You say that as if it’s a bad thing. If he is here next season, which I doubt, he will absolutely be getting my support. Just as Dan James did after he wanted to go to Leeds and Bodde after he wanted to go to Derby. That’s what being a supporter of a club does. I wouldn’t dream of not backing the manager who achieved back to back play off finishes just because he spoke to other clubs. Sounds a ridiculous thing to do.

It is understood that the west London club have been eyeing Cooper as their first choice replacement for Scott Parker for weeks now — though it is thought they’re unwilling to pay the £3.5 million in compensation”. Looks like they may try and haggle down the compo, appears he is their first choice though. Wales online and other outlets also now reporting that he is their number 1 target. I have a feeling if we don’t lower the price of the compo they may go the cheaper route with Wilder though.

Fulham know the score, Bournemouth wanted their manager, he wanted to go, compensation was paid. If Cooper is first choice which it looks like he is, they’ll get him.

Fair enough. If he gets an offer from Fulham in the next day or so, I’ll be happy enough. No, I mean the club. He’s been openly hawking himself about since the Brentford game and there hasn’t been a word from the club. No ‘Steve is under contract’, no ‘Steve remains committed to the club’ no ‘we expect Steve to lead us next season’. That in itself is a tacit admission they aren’t opposed to him leaving. Obviously that also includes the compensation we would receive. As I’ve said many times, I have no issue with the results he’s achieved, they’ve been better than we could have realistically expected. I was happy with him here. Now he’s made it clear he wants to go, I just want this soap opera put to bed before it affects pre season.

It’s difficult to take an article seriously when it starts with ‘Swansea City have reportedly started to draw up a shortlist of Steve Cooper replacements….’ As if the club, or any other club wouldn’t constantly be doing that. As if they’d give him a month of putting himself about and then start work on a shortlist. Then use the get out of jail cards ‘understood’ and ‘thought’ in the main sentence. It may well turn out that way, but there’s no insight in that article, it’s just click bait. The compensation is part of the Cooper package. If they think Wilder with no compensation is a better option, then an under contract Steve Cooper isn’t their first choice.
