Is it because we are in a vacuum right now.

Just about safe from the drop
No hope of play off

Hoping Russ will bring in the players he wants to play as he wants.

That's why.

Get him out

Most know the same posters will be posting their recycled crap that they post every time we lose.

It is somewhat predictable & very tedious.

Id imagine Keith is happy but personally I feel this forum is going the same way as Phil's where a couple of posters seem to hijack every thread with their own agenda.

Absolutely 💯 % true, we can all see the performances aren't what we expected, but the goading from a few is as you say tedious

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

I'm sorry dads you are deluded...this manager has a better squad than we had last season...he has achieved his goal topping the possession table please tell me what it is we need to turn this possession game into a winning game. what we are seeing this season is the same as he served up at MKDons for 1 and a half seasons. We have QUALITY inthe likes of Piroe Obafemi Ntcham and Paterson but we fail to get the ball quickly to them enough...that is not going to change as it's not Martin's way. We keep hearing the claptrap about kackvof preseason yet managers like Heckingbottom,Cooper and Wilder arrive at clubs several games into the season and without any preseason or influence on player acquisition take teams struggling at the foot of the table to promotion contention...whilst Martin edges us ever closer to the drop zone....

I was happy to read and hear what you had to say but this seasons squad is no way better than last seasons, to say that and then say someone else is deluded is just not right at all.
I bet Martin would love to have Woodman, Connor Roberts, Marc Guehi, Connor Hourihane, Jamal Lowe and Ayew available to him.

I am not saying that there is no quality in the squad but it's not play off material for sure, I would say that we are underachieving and should be 6/7 points where we are as a team, considering that is only 2 wins and we have no chance of going up or down then I am happy to see where things go under Martin.....my mind might change come October or November but I understand the change this club is going through.

It seems some fans have got so entitled over the last 15 years that they have forgotten how to deal with situations we currently find ourselves in today.
Make no bones about it but this squad is not better than last seasons and we are not that top 6 team anymore, look at the players that have gone and the cut in finances.

Phil was excellent at clamping down on those individuals when it became obvious that the issue was on the horizon.

Its become a site where fans are more interested on getting 1 up on others rather than discussing Swansea City.

Its been a cesspit for a while now.

It was quiet because many were up in Blackpool and others are just getting fed up of the people who are constantly pushing their agenda after a defeat.

Some fans got the situation we were going to be in this season and others didn't, after that play off final defeat it was said that this season was going to be a hard one........how fans are using what was clearly going to happen as a stick to beat Martin with is becoming a bit obsessive now.

Always said it and it gets poo pood, Cooper went for the reason that he knew this season was going to tougher and was not willing to have his rep damaged, losing good players and with a smaller budget, that is where we are.

I think Hamer is better than Woodman.

I think Downes is an improvement on Hourihane.

Christie is pretty good.

Piroe is better than Lowe.

Guehi was good in the end but we improved him, well Cooper did.

I think Cooper would do much better with this squad because it contains the striker he wanted. Even losing Ayew and Roberts, this squad looks at least as good on paper. The problem is the tactics, team selection and yes, the manager.

I also think 6/7 points is undercooking where we could be. I'm not going to say we'd be in the play off places but we are as good, at our best, as Luton, Boro or QPR.

never mind eh, we are top of the possession stats.

One attempt on target yesterday, or was it just one attempt in all. We'd have crucified Cooper for that, I would have anyway and I'm sure plenty of others would too.

Sorry but it was a good performance, we had 76% possession, those things just don't wash anymore.

As we stand I am more concerned that we will lose Piroe and Downes next season than strengthen the squad. 16 goals so far in this season will surely make Piroe a target for next seasons promotion hopefuls?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

It was going to be a hard”er” season, everyone accepted that.

Hence why none of us were expecting promotion or play off finals. But that doesn’t mean you write it off and we can be terrible week after week declining as the season goes on.

We spent £5.5m which is the second highest amount we have spent in the football league. As well as players such as Naughton, Cabango, Grimes and Bennett as well as free transfers like Pato and Ntcham.

This season, if it were not to be successful, should have been one of improvement and learning.

We haven’t had success, improvement or learning.

Anyone suggesting that was what was expected this season is not telling the truth. It’s unacceptable.

Yep, the notion that Cooper left because it was going to be harder is clearly nonsense.

If that were true he would have left after season number 1 knowing we were about to lose the likes of Brewster and Gallagher. But instead he stayed, worked with what he had and made it work and improved on the season before.

He also wouldn’t have taken over rock bottom club Forest, completely rudderless after finishing 18th the season before. With their fans expectations that job was far more a challenge than staying on with us.

But Cooper has nothing to do with this so not entirely sure why he is being brought up.

Martin is failing because of him, not because of Cooper.

No,they were quiet because they are concerned about the club and where we are going.
When someone points out this to them, they become defensive. .
Agenda is when posters hark back to spats of 15 yrs ago.

Goading is ..."where are the Martin haters now". That garbage.

It will be interesting to see their reaction if our capital cousins smash us and belittle us.

Sorry but being 16th in the championship with no worry on relegation is not something that I am wooried or afraid about.

I think you have got a few things wrong in your post but that's my opinion, some will agree and others not.

I have also been on this site as long as you and I have supported the Swans to realise that next season will be a new start and things can change quickly in either direction so for me I will not get concerned until October/November.

We are certainly not in "God help us" territory so no knee jerk reactions from me.

Personally I will remain unwavering in my belief this Martin philosophy will work. Otherwise this season will be struck off as a complete waste of time. Not because I am committed to him as a manager but because of the effort and time those who do think it could work have put in to this season.

I’m a realist with a positive outlook, anyone can rise from the detritus of doom, and there's gloom too and drag us northwards in this league has my support.

Sacking him is pure nonsense, it’s costly and not beneficial.

If this clicks we will be a monster of a side next season, but we rely on support both vocal and financial. Who can say what tomorrow will bring, but today for me is very clear.

I agree with you, with some reluctance. We’ve bought into this now and need to see it through to the summer and to the tail end of the year. A full summer transfer window with a full season behind us could well prove dividends.

I’m starting to lose some faith but am prepared to see it through. What’s the alternative? Or who is the alternative? What do we do then ? Cooper ball ? What about the Swansea way ?

"If this clicks we will be a monster of a side next season"

If what clicks? Being allowed 75%+ of possession by the opposing team whilst being unable to break them down on the few occasions we do venture forward?

Teams create more dangerous attacks than we do, despite us having over 300% more of the ball in many of these games. There's nothing to "click". The only way this "clicks" is if we suddenly acquire players of the calibre of De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes etc who can make the sort of passes necessary to break the oppositions line of midfield and defence multiple times per match.

What has "clicked" is the understanding that it is best to leave us do what we want and plan traps to win the ball in our defensive third. That's the only tactical approach regarding our style of play that sees success each matchday. Unfortunately, it is at our own expense.

A high percentage of fans having a grudge against Martin and with some it has been there from day 1, it's because some fans wanted Cooper out and they have got their backs up with those fans, it's either been a personal thing or because they liked Cooper.
I ewould be inclined to say that Martin goes if we showed no signs at all but that is not the case, he came in to a club that was a mess at the time with some major players leaving and a big cut in the finances.

It can be argued that he has been backed, he has been backed with what is available as other managers were, some were backed with wages more than transfer fees, it's a juggling act! Martin has used more in transfer fees in comparison to wages, Cooper went the other way.... Its a nonsense comparison with flaws a plenty.

Martin won't go this season, this season was never the judgement and there was little to no expectation.

Back to the OP, the summer is an important one, going into a season with a level to improve on......i have typed what we should go with and what I can clearly see what is needed.

Would like to see a few views on the matter stated in the OP.

This season was never going to be judged unless we were starring down the barrel of relegation.

There will certainly be an inquest as there is at the end of every season. There is a decent core there, I don't expect a massive exit of players, not ones who will have a part to play next season anyhow.

There has been a lot of uneccesary nonsense with some this season, I am not saying it's all nonsense but there are certainly been posters on here with a bigger agenda than it really needs to be.

I suppose I can agree with that but then look at the context, look at our previous 2 finishes and the promises made. look at the 3 million we spent, more than most other clubs in this division. Look at the clubs with points deductions.

Finally, look at our performances.

OK we are safe from relegation but we need a big improvement next season or we may not be safe.
What worries me the most is that despite his style clearly not being good enough and/or not having the players (unless you have a billionaire owner who can buy the likes of David Silva) to implement that style, he insists on sticking with it.

Our failings are there for everybody to see. it's not that anybody wants him to fail, for us to go down, the reality is people are worried that is where he is taking us.

OK, lets write off this season, my next big concern is the transfer window and do we hang onto our best players. Lets see what happens after that. Do we strengthen, do we get the players Russ needs? Do we start to move up the table. By next December, as I have said, he will have no excuses.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Martin has a very ambitious playing style if it can marry the possession stats to shots on and off target stats and things like corners.

He is promoting the idea that next season Swansea will breeze in Blackpool have 75% possession three time as many shots on and off target and 3x as many corners. He has big promises to deliver. Swansea city need to be the "Man City lite". Big ambitions.

By next January we would expect to be seeing some great performances. Some of us like me are prepared to give him the time but so far performances have been less than convincing. The front line of Patterson, Piroe and Obafemi should have been able to give Blackpool defenders in league 1 last season a very hard time. This did not happen because of some good old fashioned British hustling and strength. Which of those three will not be playing next season?

You've dropped your guard and I'm about to give you a left hook.

I detested Cooper too so I am no Cooper man. He screwed up 2 playoffs .At least he got there though.

Your campaign has been exposed. Cooper v Martin. Both failures at our club but at least we had some pride under Cooper and didnt have to suffer interminal drivel from Martin and the outright lies about a plan for the future. He has none;he wis awaiting his turn to jump ship from our putrid owners. Cooper did show some self respect though.

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

You've dropped your guard and I'm about to give you a left hook.

I detested Cooper too so I am no Cooper man. He screwed up 2 playoffs .At least he got there though.

Cooper showed no self respect.
If as has been suggested, he lost faith with the owners and felt he wasnt being backed, then he should have left.
Instead he hung on until the last possible moment, waiting for his payoff.
This left the club just a short amount of time, instead of having three months, to find a manager.
Maybe had we had that time, a different manager would have been appointed?
Who knows ?
So if as you say you detested Cooper, then please dont paint him as some hero.
He should have gone in May and would have if one of those jobs he was supposed to be lined up for been forthcoming.

The problem is not the owners. Martin has a very potent front line of Obafemi, Piroe and Patterson. He has a no 10 in Patterson.

He needs to generate an attacking threat away from home. Mr Allen calls the shots not the owners.

Mr Allen might have to parachute in new coaching skills like Leon Britton and Angel Rangel perhaps. New players will not change the dynamic that much. The front line is already pretty threatening. Swansea perform against footballing sides Huddersfield, WBA, Coventry but do not perform against pragmatists Hull, Preston and Blackpool. They let Swansea have the ball and defend stoutly.
