I hadn’t really thought of it like that. We’ve all complained about the Cardiffcentric nature of funding but it doesn’t stack up with the city as a whole, does it?

My apologies for the spelling mistake. Make sure your grammar is spot on from now on. I believe the topic was about the centre not the outskirts Cardiff in general is far more prosperous than Swansea

Drakers is in the Senedd. Thats in Cardiff. We voted him back in last May 21, Labour won 30 of the 60 seats, matching its best-ever Senedd election result. These are local elections, but yes welsh labour will stand in both. Obviously don't vote Tory, but everyone else is pretty much tidy. Beware independents though, can be a bit Tory-lite. Not all but worth a check.

Is Cardiff not in Wales? Is a tory in a "local" election not going to be against Drakers? Our Green candidate, who has won our votes, she is from England originally. An Englander daring to stand in a Welsh election eh Kilkenny, don't tell Saville-Roberts!

My point is that Drakeford as leader of the Labour party in Wales is the leader of everything the Labour party does in Wales. This includes the local elections and was in response to your post. "Drakers is not in the local elections, just saying." Which is clearly wrong as any Labour candidates would be following the party line approved by Drakeford.

Of course Cardiff is more prosperous than Swansea. That is the direct result of the mismanagement by the Senedd and Labour over the last 20 years who have diverted funds from the UK government from the rest of Wales to Cardiff.

I voted no, and I'd vote no again if there was another referendum, sadly there won't be, Drakeford and his tribe, have tightened, and are still tightening their grip on power.

Even with the limited powers Westminster has over them things are this bad. Imagine how bad things would get if total power rested with the Senedd? Any part of Wales outside Cardiff and its feeder districts would become an impoverished wasteland. If Annibyniaeth types had any brains in their heads then they'd understand this, but if they had brains in their heads then they wouldn't be Annibyniaeth types in the first place. Drakers is probably going with the massively discredited idea that the wealth will spread out from Cardiff to all of us. It's a version of trickle down economics which we have all seen and know doesn't happen, wealth sucks in more wealth from around it, it vacuums it up and leaves a wasteland behind. That is what is happening to Wales.

I would say no but it misses the point somewhat. The point is competition. Imagine what Labour could achieve if there was a genuine threat of them being voted out? Right now they can do whatever they want and that is no good for any democracy.

Drakers is more likely going with the belief that if he can get a big enough percentage of the Welsh population addicted to Senedd funding the rest of us can go whistle as Labour will continue in power in perpetuity. Makes no difference to them how rich or poor we are. They've already demonstrated that they don't care whether people in South West Wales live or die by siting the major trauma centre in Cardiff, even though they've already got access to one half an hours helicopter ride away in Bristol. Suffer a major accident in Splott and you're spoilt for choice. Suffer one in Saundersfoot and let's hope your affairs are in order. Probably not far off a million people living in SE Wales and the Valleys. Get them all on board, add in the useful idiots outside that area who vote for their abusers, and with the new kiddie vote elections are a formality. [Post edited 20 Apr 2022 14:50]

| Local elections on 17:13 - May 1 with 673 views | felixstowe_jack | Perhaps voters should vote for the local councils they want. If your Council is efficient and well run then vote for them . If they are poorly run and offer bad service get rid of them. No good complaining for the next four years if you make the wrong choice. | |
