| Local elections on 13:29 - May 6 by onehunglow | It is the Boris factor. If the Tories are too dumb not to dump this preening clown then they deserve to be opposition . Our local councillors are superb,Labour ones elsewhere are horrendous. |
See the latest news on Starmer, I don't think the tories will be in opposition.
| Local elections on 14:21 - May 6 with 1365 views | Kilkennyjack | This is good to see, the Tories know its gave over for Johnson. More fines and the Sue Grey report to come spells big disaster. Where is Carrie Antoinette btw ? 🤷â€â™‚ï¸ Has she left him yet ? | |

I forgotten there was an election until someone knocked my door at 7pm to see if I have voted. I've had 1 Labour leaflet in the last couple of months. First time not voted for years, totally disinterested.

| Local elections on 14:17 - May 6 by Lorax | Labour and the tories are both more mature, more successful parties than Plaid. |
But the Greens and Plaid are both left of centre that is not the case half the time for Labour and the Cons of course are right wing. Plaid and the Greens have (I heard someone say) joined forces in this election in Cardiff, although I haven't checked that out myself and decades ago in Ceredigion Plaid and Greens teamed up in a General Election and they famously won. I had a leaflet handed to me as I was walking my dog from a beret wearing communist. It was very handy as I had forgotten my poo bags.

Decades ago, surely not more than 2 decades? You still preach about left and right, politics has changed. Any party that believes in capitalism cannot be left wing, surely? Adam Price is a capitalist! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

30 years ago is decades ago, being left of centre doesn't mean being Communist.

Yet managed to gain control of only one new council despite two years of free publicity for Drakeford and of course giving the vote to 16 and 17 year children. Children won't be able to vote in the General election. PC gained control of 3 councils yet lost six councillors that rather puts to bed the view Wales want independence. Will be interesting when they actually publish the turn out % and % of votes won by each party.

Lib dems gain three times as many seats in England than Labour and even the greens gain more seats than Labour. Hardly a vote of confidence in the ability of Starmer to run a country and that was before news of the police investigation of Starmer's party was announced.

Gaining control of councils would be more important to Plaid I would think, more councillors but without any sort of control is rather pointless. NPT for the first time does not have Labour control, dont think anyone saw that coming. (Its a shame half of the useless ones from Port Talbot got backnin though)

Gaining more seats over all would be more of a sign that more people supported PC, losing votes over all is the opposite.

Our progressive parties have booted the Tory party out of Wales. Thats all we need to know. World beating posh boy boaster Johnson does not impress the good people of Cymru. Likewise Scotland and the north of Ireland.

Plaid gained 3 councils yet over all lost 6 councillors. They actually lost votes. The independents lost both their councils but gained 8 councillors over all, they gained votes. Labour have gained the most while the tories lost the most.

The name of the game is winning councils and Plaid did superbly well in that regard, similar to General Elections and FPTP, having a high vote share and no council's or no seats in General Elections is no good, like Liberals/SDP/Lib Dems in the past, no good having a quarter of the entire vote across the country with barely a seat to their name. It's better for Plaid to be very strong in some areas and win in those areas and very weak in other areas as opposed to average across the board and no wins, average across the board is good for proportional representation type systems, winning is all that matters in our current system.

Yes but what it does show is, if support for Plaid is ebbing then maybe so is the much claimed large support for independence!

Clutching at straws tory fan boy. As Lorax (possibly the most balanced political commentary on here) points out "Labour have gained the most while the tories lost the most."

Support for Wales to remain part of the United Kingdom remains as strong as ever with PC loosing Councillors. Labour now run 1 extra council they are now in charge of 8 out of the 22 councils.
