With all that said he explained the positives very clearly post match, but admitted the intensity over the ninety minutes was not there. 0 The future is next season, click above. | Russell Martin : ‘If we are going to be a proper club’ on 14:03 - Apr 17 by Sirjohnalot | I agree. This was one sentence taken in isolation perhaps out of a 2-3 minute answer. I didn’t read it as suggesting we’re not a proper club in the way people are suggesting |
Of course it wasn't, things like this are said every day and most of the time it's taken how it was said...really don't get how some are taking it the wrong way. Its how he has delivered it is the problem but as I say, if it was offensive to the club then the media outlets would have jumped on it. Really is something about nothing unless you want to make something more if it than it really is of course.

| Russell Martin : ‘If we are going to be a proper club’ on 14:45 - Apr 17 with 1242 views | A_Fans_Dad | It is not just the word proper as the excusers are saying. It is the "If we are going to be" ie suggesting that in the past we haven't been a proper club that looks after our players. I am sure that all the players that we got promoted from nowhere to prem status would disagree. In fact one of the worst people I know for disrespecting players is Martin himself. | | | |

I don't think that comment can be labelled as past tense, certainly can fall into the present but no way past tense. Its definetly meaning doing things right and I would say its more towards the hierarchy rather than the club. I think if anyone has an issue against Martin then they will play on it, if looked it open mindedly then it's really something about nothing.

I am not hypersensitive at all. I am not particularly offended by sheep banter these days unless associated with threats of violence (which do occur). I simply point out it is racist at the lower end of the racial abuse spectrum and is a convict-able offence. 'Aggravated racial disorderly conduct'.

I remember some fan slagging off the fearsome 18 stone monster boxer Joe 'Juggernaut' Joyce as being not very articulate. I suggested that Stephen Fry was more articulate but did not have a great jab or right cross. Lovely fellow actually Joyce. I recall Joyce losing a ABA battle with the "beast of Bonymaen" Darren Morgan 10-12 years back.

Swansea have in the last 5 season come at short. The target is promotion and the Premier league. To do that all headwinds must be in Swansea favour given the budget. A proper club like Brentford who were a lot better at Wembley. It is being realistic.

| Russell Martin : ‘If we are going to be a proper club’ on 18:26 - Apr 16 by AndyCole | All day. With Martin it's always about Martinball brand, at all costs. MKDons fans can write a book about it. Some Swans fans have the script written (me included) with publicists queuing up in their scores. Oh for the days of proper, sleeves-up, street-wise down with the proper fans managers, who play to win effectively and efficiently above all else. Yet some fans are still lost way up in the clouds. Brainwashed by the not-so-subtle Martinball PR machine. Martinball, still languished way down in the bottom half. Still. After 3 years of management. Completely unacceptable in so many ways. No way would he get past the 1st interview at any self respecting Championship club right now, including us. Yet we had and still have Wunter (another story, another book). Martinball. Fraud, without .ppt. Cooperball had the.ppt from the outset, had the the know how /stripes of winning football, the results, and ultimately the relatively massive achievements. How some fans are excusing Martin for such crass, disrespectful comments is beyond comprehension, right now. |
A Massive bump. Surely. There is still a clutch of twp Martinintas, still to this day. Kinell. Get a grip muns. The twp need to pay attention..... and yet again: 'Oh for the days of proper, sleeves-up, street-wise down with the proper fans managers, who play to win effectively and efficiently above all else.. Cooperball must surely have now finally brandished Martinball to the twps bin. The hard of thinking twpsyns like Daps, Winston, BJob et al - grow up and publicly denounce Martin's 'The Process' for the flange-wad that it it is. A proper blot on our Swansea City landscape.

It is clear the current model cannot work in its current form. It has been audited twice by Cooper who plays on weaknesses of the opposition. The audit in the winter was bad, in the spring it was terrible. There are amendments to be made for sure, If Martin does not find them then he is gone. A record shots against on target from a Steve Cooper team?????. A new athletic centre back from league one is not going to change that dynamic. Martin if at all academic must do some study and figure what went wrong for himself with the analysts. Have the hard nuts of last season (Roberts, Bidwell, Guehi, Fulton Bennett) been replaced by fancy dan showboaters?

Which is what we have been telling you for months. Your reply was along the lines of “Liverpool do it so it’s fine”, “anything else is a support of Garry Monk ball”. Stick with us Resolven, you won’t go far wrong, and save yourself an awful lot of time getting to a point where you naturally end up making a U-turn.

You're right, Martinball ain't sustainable, neither in League 1 nor above. Cooperball succeeded, Manningball succeeded. Winter is the issue. Jake needs to grow a pair like Jenkins and get rid. Martin needs to be shipped out of his cosy South Gower Martin Morgan mansion and earn his stripes. Way too cushty. Way too not right.

The coach may be right,on reflection. Few fans of proper clubs would accept what has gone and is going on without asking questions at least. Proper clubs do not have expectations lowered in a sinister fashion nor decent professionals ,especially the young humiliated. But our fans ,rather than express indignation at this, prefer to offer "support" for a transient coach. We see it,feel it then tell lies on a fans forum;it aint right,it aint healthy

Neither is constant criticism. If you gave credit when it was due ( same with AC and Dr P) then your views would be more respected. However it is soul destroying to read the turgid rehashing of personal attacks on Martin and his team and criticism, yet the three of you never have anything positive to say when we turn in good results and performances Balanced posting is what is called for

Martin is not stupid from what i can see. He may be governed by a defining dogma but he knows he is kidding himself in saying Swansea had any control on Saturday. He may have lost his soulmate (assistant Williams) from a resistance to adaptation. Playing out from the back (as one part of it) is not rocket science. I have seen u19 teams from Croatia and other European nations do it and it is done by numerous continental teams. Swansea must always endeavour to play easy on the eye possession football. It is in the DNA of the club and played throughout the age group levels. The team at Swansea need to pick the bones out of Martinball and make it more resilient. Martin ball subject to development. Winter has to decide with his new DoF if this is best served by retaining Martin or moving on.

Playing out from the back is not where the criticism lies. There is a way to do it, how Martin does it is not that. You have not seen Croatia U-19’s or any continental team have a goalkeeper taking a goal kick and becoming another CB level or ahead of the defensive line, leaving the goal empty under the oncoming press. You just haven’t. In fact I’ve never seen it in my decades watching the game. It’s self indulgent nonsense with minimal to negligible benefit when it works and catastrophic consequences when it doesn’t. This is the sort of approach to the game Martin has. Defeats are usually marked by catastrophic individual errors and has been the theme throughout his 3 seasons as manager. This is not coincidence, it’s because he plays a game with completely unbalanced risk to reward play. It’s not smart and flawed in nearly every single way.

The difference between playing football out from the back with Cooper martinez brendzn, and even man city and liverpool, from us is they play a totally different system,we play with wing backs both high up the pitch,as thd other teams play 4 at back, when we start playing out and teams press us if we lose it there is wide open spaces on the flanks and teams cut us right open easily, and we tend to be narrow with no cover, the other teams get their fullbacks wide and the keeper either throws to them znd they start from there or to the centre halves with the full backs giving an optional then they move it about, but there is always cover for the mistake,we ard wide open and suicidal [Post edited 3 May 2022 15:27]

In one. Liverpool and Citeh do not do as we do. For anyone to claim we remotely do as they do is insane We haven’t the talent nor the fitness It is tripe Neither citeh nor Liverpool would lose a three goal lead

Citeh did give away a two goal lead, and should have been 4 or 5 up before Real Madrid scored. If they fail in the second game, I doubt the meltdown would match that which we saw on here following the Bournemouth game ( which is more of an equivalent ie two fairly matched teams, rather than Reading )
