Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : THE THREAD 21/22 AFTERMATH 17:56 - May 4 with 9313 viewsKeithHaynes

Nowhere to hide for this one, it’s the last game of the season where stories of no shows won’t cut it. Here is a testicled eyed view ( I loved that ) of the final game of the season. Runners will be there no doubt.

I had to do this thread as NL is still laughing after reading Twitter.

The Ref really is Steve Martin

So far this season, he has taken charge of 33 matches handing out 98 yellow cards and four reds. This weekend, he will be assisted by James Wilson and Nicholas Barnard. James Oldham will be the fourth official. Steve pictured above wears glasses on his days off.

Swansea… playoffs, playoffs, (15th)
MK Dons… (19th), (13th), playoffs

Guess which seasons Russell was in charge of…

For anyone not sure, they are in brackets.

But you don't understand... Steve Cooper had Andre Ayew who, erm, left for the Middle East after being unable to secure a contract in a competitive European league.

Poor Russell Martin has had to contend with Joel Piroe and Obafemi - two players who the same people think will be attracting interest from the Premier League.

The logic being applied to try and defend Russell Martin is borderline satirical.

There should be a sweepstake on what date the narrative this pre-season turns to “we now need to give the team time to gel with the new players that have arrived”.

Russell will have to teach them his super system don’t you know. The system that has never once got his side to finish in the top half.

Before we know it he may well be the first manager in Swansea history that has been allowed to write off the first 60 games he’s managed. Although he probably has that accolade at 46 already.

Quite a nice little community on here when the mighty Swans disappoint. Like the Social club cafe for the pensioners Neath to next to the Gwyn hall there. Coffee for 50p like it was in 1985.

This forum should have a special 'members room' to post dark thought and negative outlooks along with prophesies of impending doom.

Andy Cole, Dwight York (same person?) , Dr P and OHL founding members. Tea coffee and a giant picture of Steve Cooper on the wall.

Arguing? What gave you the impression I’m arguing. Making a point doesn’t mean someone has to be arguing.

Are you honestly telling me you don’t think there is anyone who still wants to give Russell Martin time or has faith in his system?

You mean the posters that have posted here for years come rain or shine who largely react to events on the pitch?

When we were 4th and 6th I don’t think there were more positive posts than from those you mention (OHL aside). We have just lost at home to a QPR side that could barely muster a team sheet consigning us to our lowest finish in long over a decade.

Don’t let facts ruin another of your off the cuff narratives though.

An absolute borefest today, fans booing midway through the first half with the constant passing back around the defenders and goalie.

At the end very poor turnout to applaud the players. Which is bad sign for me, I am glad to see this season end, not sure how much patience I will have next season if the same recipe is served.

Even when you know, you never know?

This.

This ridiculous idea of Fisher coming out to the edge and past his penalty area to pass the ball around is exactly that Fg Ridiculous.

I keep saying it, but I'll say it again Martin as got Pep's idea's around the way he wants the team to play, but the players at his disposal ain't got the quality, ability, guile call it what you will, to play that way, its a fantasy concept all in Martins head and it needs shaking out of him. ASAP.

Very few, the process hasn't developed, we don't have any pace and zero width. There is no way he can be allowed to continue next season. Wonder if I can get a refund on my season ticket.
On the plus side Congreve looks to have a real future in the game.

You are preaching to the converted, I’ve been saying it most of this season. It’s horrific.

But I can’t agree that nobody still believes in him. Every week we have had the same conversations with the same people telling us we are wrong and just being negative.

Should have let the lad see the game out, should have taken Wolf off, as he is almost certain to go back to his club, neat and tidy player, but can't beat a man, because he lacks the pace to do so. That 8mill price tag on his head is laughable, as he looks nothing like an 8 million pound/euro player, for me.

I fear for us next season I really do, with Winter, Silverdollar and Russell Pep Martin at the helm, these lase 6/7 games tells you all you need to know, can't see how it call all change, unless there's millions to spend, which there undoubtedly won't be.

First 15-20 was excruciating. People came to see a football match, not a training exercise where we work hard to keep the ball in areas we can't hurt anyone.

We won't get promoted playing this way. Too easy for bang average (or worse) sides to do a job on it and nick enough chances to score.

Today was yet another game I couldn’t be bothered to go to watch, and by the sound of it, saved myself more misery.
And I’m pretty p!ssed off with the fact I’ve already paid, to probably not watch, half of them next season as well.
My only hope is that the penny drops fairly early next season, for the owners to see the error of they’re ways, in signing a league one manager, who could only muster a 19th as 13th position in his 2 seasons there.
To ship so many goals against, is as ludicrous as our possession for the sake of possession stats.
For the future of SCFC he has to go as early as possible

Reading this and seeing the lack of posts, it seems people can't even be bothered to complain anymore.

Have we become apathetic to it all? is Martin's biggest achievement to date driving fans away?

it's not entertaining or exciting, well so those who can be bothered have said today.

I went to my sons football tournament and took part in a parents game after. From the sounds of it, I put in more effort and commitment than the swans did. I'm now pretty happy I didn't renew my season ticket.

Trust the process we are told. It depends what the aim of the process is because if it's to ruin the club, it seems to be working.

Well that was boring and poor.
Was a typical end of season match but that was not good enough from some out there today!

Interesting to know and see if the 2 offsides were called correctly, Wolf goal and the eventual winner, offside or not?

I go into the summer with a clear idea if what is needed, speed out wide, a centre half or 2 and a creative 10.

That no 10 was a cracking little player for QPR, going to miss it for the next few months but its another season chalked off.

I thought it would be a struggle this season and even thought we might have got dragged into a relegation battle, latter didn't really happen so can grumble too much. Think the picture became clearer as the season went in as to what is needed and today's game really highlighted the whole season in 90mins AND summed up with that Patterson shot towards the end of the game 🤦‍♂️

Buckle up for an interesting summer all.
