A nations league campaign was flawed albeit against better opposition. Now seven games after that qualification night in June the distress signals are there. The older players are no longer carrying the spark of old, and the younger players have lost their way over the past five months. 2

| Wales v Iran : Match Day Thread on 11:59 - Nov 25 by Joesus_Of_Narbereth | They absolutely deserve that. It’s what we get for turning up without a midfield. |
This is the correct analysis. We had no control.

Midfield is our weak link, so the formation was totally wrong. We needed more bodies in the middle of the park. We should have started with the youth to give us the legs and then let the old guard on. Page is way out of his depth, he would struggle in the Welsh leagues.

| Wales v Iran : Match Day Thread on 13:59 - Nov 25 by onehunglow | I have avoided criticising coaches . It’s best. As for Bale,it is appalling he has been deified and seen as our greatest ever . He s not. He should announce his immediate retirement as should Ramsey Meanwhile, Ollie Cooper watches from home deemed not good enough to even make the squad Our most capped players are Hennessy and Gunter. Maybe that says it all Now ,get our lads home safe and our fans free of the stench of a tournament constructed literally off of blood sweat and many tears . The winner of this tournament will be branded with the red hot poker of pure Hypocrisy |
I get Bale has been a good player but ive never thought he is as good as the hype, mostly from our own fans i may add. There was a time where he was being compared to the likes of Messi and Ronaldo in football circles which is absurd. Thought i saw Ollie on the bench which will be a great experience for him. Bringing Joe on today summed up Page for me. I still say France through injury perhaps will go close with a front three of two wingers and a skilled CF. Their number 8 looks the part as well.
| Wales v Iran : Match Day Thread on 15:37 - Nov 25 with 1199 views | DJack | I knew we were screwed after the Poland nations league game...but we regressed even more. I've said before that Page isn't good enough and he has proven that. Cut out the old players, bring in new coaching staff and rebuild as best as is possible with what we have. | |

| Wales v Iran : Match Day Thread on 12:02 - Nov 25 by BryanSwan | There we go, its what we deserve. Page has to go now has shown he is not capable to make the decisions to take the team forward. Bale and Ramsey although brilliant players in their day are so far past their best and have hindered us massively. Wilson should never step foot on the pitch, dreadful player. World cup over, might aswell fly home now. |
Bang on the money there Stronger together, red wall, buckets hats....blah blah let's start getting real ! An average championship team at best

| Wales v Iran : Match Day Thread on 16:21 - Nov 25 with 1116 views | ReslovenSwan1 | The Welsh way is a bit of a myth. I theory we have gone from Booby Gould hoofball into a confident possession based passing team in the modern style, This is fake. In this tournament Wales could not control the ball or pass well and stopped running except Nec Wales are runners and play best when running hard at fullbacks and creating space. Williams N, Williams J, Bale, Roberts, Brennan, Wilson, James, Matondo, None of them can pass. The passers other than Allen are Morrell Smith and Levitts. Page played Morrell in most if not all qualifiers. The cupboard is not packed so Page had to develop Levitt as his only crisp accurate passer. Ollie Cooper is Swansea schooled so could have been included. There will be a gap to the next wave but so good kids in there a few from Swansea. Wales u17 and u19 have been getting some good results. Wales need to secure Luke Harris who is the best. I still think Reuben Colwill will develop once he stops growing plus Josh James. Cian Ashford, Congreve, Savage jnr, Popov. and I rate Ben Lloyd, Cabango and Cooper would have performed better than Rodon and Allen. Aaron Collins and Wes Burns are performing well. There are a few Anglos in the woodwork Chem Campbell Owen Hesketh and Josh Da Silva (Bristol) | |

So a team thats qualified for 2 Euros and a World Cup is average Championship standard ? And our magnificent fans can be ridiculed…? Listen up - we know we are not Brazil, and we know we are little Cymru. But we are proud of our team for getting there. America has 300 million people, and Iran more than the uk. As Bill Shankly once said, "If you can't support us when we lose or draw, don't support us when we win." Poor take.

Bale was at his prime rated as one of the best three players in the world. What is it with the British we build up our heroes just to kick them. His best days have gone but he has earned his place in Welsh football history. Also he always turned up for duty when asked, unlike Giggs

| Wales v Iran : Match Day Thread on 17:30 - Nov 25 with 915 views | Treforys_Jack | Still believe Bale has a part to play over the next campaign, Ramsey I'm afraid is completely spent. We still have decent players but I've had reservations about Page from the beginning, his record (albeit against some decent outfits) isn't very good at all. He struggles to adapt tactically to the opposition especially during the game. A rebuild is in order, preferably with a different manager, but that won't happen I'm afraid. | | | |

I have to disagree regarding Bale, a fantastic player in his day but those days have gone , his body is breaking down in terms of his ability to play at the highest level . I know he had his issues at RM but those last two seasons has now cost him in terms of fitness , sharpness and dare I say his desire .

| Wales v Iran : Match Day Thread on 18:15 - Nov 25 with 802 views | AnotherJohn | We've had some good times, but time for a rebuild now. Unfortunately, that is not looking so easy now because some of aspiring new stars - like James and Roden - were among the weakest performers. Of the older players I would exempt Hennessy from too much blame. He made at least one world-class save from that shot in the bottom corner. | | | |

Can try and rebuild as much as we like, unless we get another couple of Bale and Ramsey Calibre players which will be doubtful we will probably not see the success we have recently had for quite a while.

I don't mean building a side around him, just that's he's capable of playing a part, not necessarily starting, but a nice option with 20mins to go. If he'd accept that role obviously. Ramsey has been done for a long time. Who knows we may turn the Saes over.

Dan James has regressed alarmingly, not sure about young Johnson either. We were really poor first half against USA and that's not taking anything away from the US, I only saw about 35 mins of the 2nd half of the Iran game and they were head and shoulders above us and well deserved the win, sadly.
