My opinion on Cullen he is a good player to bring on if opposition teams are sitting deep defending to unlock them not when we need to ensure our defensive formation is solid, horses for courses.
Better players can be utilised in both circumstances and that is the issue at the moment dealing with both cases, the midfield is bereft of good experienced players. I hold Widell in high regard but some of his wasteful, aimless and needless clearances smacked of inexperience late in the Norwich game. | | | |

For me this next window will show what to hopefully expect, we do not have a bottonless pit of cash to spend and have to stay within the rules or face a points deduction, the things are can we keep Galbraith and Vip to name just 2 and bring in what i thought after our managers words in last few weeks quality and depth of that quality, We have seen the quality AND depth Coventry , boro and ipswich and southampton have, add to that next season Burnly Wolves and possibly Spurs which will make it even harder to get to the play offs without the depth and quality, but lets wait and see what the summer brings | | | |

I can see us losing key players apart from Vipotnik and Galbraith. If I was a betting man my money would be on Stamenic then Tymon then Vipotnik leaving as a minimum. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Ronald go. Its how we spend the money thats important and when they actually leave, hopefully we will do the business early. |  | | |

Yes he wouldn’t have left us in the lurch I’m sure. Would take months and months to prepare for a window so you would think much of the work is already done.
The important thing is the club keeps the momentum going because the squad is clearly coming together now. Hopefully we can keep hold of Galbraith and Vipotnik although it will be tough. | | | |

Because he put a long term recruitment plan in place which they had been working to. The incoming DoF allegedly would want the main say in the department, Worth’s work remains with the club and it will be up to the new DoF if he uses them or goes his own way. I hear from two guys i speak to regularly that he will most certainly be at another club next season as lead recruiter. | |

I think especially with psr in mind we need to be running the rule over leagues1 and 2 . There are nuggets to be had as Coventry have exploited . Mason Clarke was originally with Barnet then Peterborough before being signed and has been an outstanding success for the Sky Blues. Also Jack Rudoni signed from Huddersfield. There are championship clubs on the trail of Dan Phillips of Stevenage a player we should be looking at too. | | | |

It sounds like a myth to me promoted by certain posters.
The general narrative we as as follows . The club starred to go wrong when Hubert assumed the role of Director of Football" .
From what I could see he was always the effective DoF and used his recruitment guy Ledbetter who kept a very low profile.
I worked well with both managers and club working to sign players. Under Martinez he had Reeves. Reeves brought in Spanish player quite a few who were bang average and the club brought in Ferrie Bodde for example.
Problem is seemed to me occured when appointed managers had no recruitment nous after Martinez left. Sousa for example. He had no contacts and no mates to call on. No doubt in his interview he said he could find players. Brendan then has a number of his own players like Sinclair and Borini and s dispensed with Sousa club signings like Kuqi and Beattie.
Laudrup had is own agent and tried to sideline the clubs influence leading a wrecked working relationship to his sacking ( as I understand it) .
Monk then was like Sousa but may have pressed for the highly successful Siggurdson. Guidolin accepted the joint approach which has always existed and promoted Paloschi who was not too successful and Llorente who was a revelation. Sadly Huw only gave him a two year deal instead of the three year deal. This was a fateful error leading to downward spiral the club had upto that date avoided. Guidolin had never heard of Fer but liked the player.
Clement was the disaster. He approved a shot Bony and overpriced and injured Clucas. His own picks Sanches" we as damaged" and Abraham was too young. Carlos had links but Swansea were bottom and the club overpaid on A Ayew who tends to fail at critical moments.
Both club and manger underperformed. The set up was unchanged as far as I can see. [Post edited 29 Apr 17:22]

Expensive loans are good if they get you promoted or go on lucrative cup runs. Steve Cooper is an excellent manager but left no legacy. Russell martin who is not such a good coach perhaps generated big cash with signings . Flynn Downs. (£14m)
The management also missed the boat with Nathan Wood (£10m). Cooper failed to pin down Gyorkeres and preferred Jamal Lowe which no one can argue was long term thinking. I am not sure who signed Ryan Manning. Some say Cooper was instrumental in identifying Piroe. If he thought he was as good as he turned out perhaps he woud have honoured his contract.
I would say Steve Cooper left no legacy apart from bringing on Cabango and slow burner Cullen. Latibeaudiere nor Kris Peterson saw any profit. | |

Steve Cooper left absolutely nothing even remotely good. He blew all of our limited budget on top loans who were no doubt cracking players but gave us absolutely no long term stability or assets to build on.
As you said atleast Martin gave us Downes, Wood, Obafemi, Ntcham and Piroe who were all sold for a decent profit and kept the lights on. He also oversaw one of the greatest moments in the clubs history with the doube doube.
Steve Cooper's one job was to get promoted and we all tolerated his terrible mind numbing football in pursuit of that. Yet he failed miserably twice and then had the audacity to have interviews before the playoff final.
I'm glad his career has turned to a complete failure since because the long term damage he did to this club took us a while to recover. | | | |
