Summer transfer thread!! 10:58 - Apr 23 with 87810 viewsDaggyjack

Is it too early to begin a SCFC summer transfer thread??!!

First up for the thread of probable non-sensical and fact-less targets, I give you Frank Magri of Toulouse.

WalesOnline claiming that Steven Brown won't be joining the club as Sporting Director.

"We are going in a different direction" - whatever that means....

Were you not wondering what Guardiola was going to do next? S'obvious. Why else has he made himself available? Answer that? I bet you can't.

or maybe they are people who are fed up of seeing great attacking position after great attacking position being squandered by one of the most useless wingers we've had at the club in a long long time.
He offers us nothing week in week out besides defensive work, going forward he is a complete non entiity

22 G/A in 116 matches is shocking return for someone who is put into so many good positions. His crossing success rate must be even worse. He has no pace, no skill to beat a player and can't cross the ball. It's beggers belief that he is playing at this level of football. The second most frustrating footballer at the club, i won't mention the other as i don't want to derail the thread

At last, a man after my own heart !!
I’ve been banging on time and time again, about Ronald McDonald bring worse than useless. He actually stops us dead in his tracks when we’re attacking. Any momentum we’ve created comes to a full stop once football’s version of Keir Starmer has the ball at his feet. One of the best descriptions of him came down The Stadium, when a guy close to me said in classic Twin Towns Swanseaish….
“For feks sake! check his fkn passport! If he’s a fkn Brazilian, then I’m a fkn Eskimo!!”
Shakespeare couldn’t have put it more succinctly ! 🤣🤣

Ronald's impact when he first arrived was seismic. He looked five times the player he did for most of last season. Not sure what's gone on with him, whether he's been coached in the wrong direction a bit too much since, but in terms of technical ability he's regressing. Eom might not quite have the same numbers, but his ceiling looks a lot higher.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Don't disagree that Ronald offers very little in an attacking vein. I'd be happy to sell him on, or try to convert him to a RWB as he puts the effort in and can make a tackle.

Posted this on another thread.

If we are serious about mounting a challenge next season we have to keep hold of certain key players and replace those proven to be not up to it.

I’m not against selling Vipotnik personally. He's been marvellous this season but he has his faults and more importantly his price tag probably won’t get any higher.

I’d like to keep Galbraith though. Yes, we’ve coped without him but I think he could be a very important and influential player if we are going to be up there.

We need to lose Ronald. Clearly not up to it sadly.

So use the VIP money to buy a seriously good attacking winger and also a third first team quality centre back because as has been documented on here many times, the current pair are not working as effectively as they could.

And talk of maybe Tymon being of interest to Hull. We need to keep this sort of player at all costs because replacing him would be difficult in not impossible.

We will get a good offer for Galbraith and sell him I think and pick up another CDM maybe from Europe ?
At the risk of repeating myself again I’d like to see 3-5-2 with Ronald on the bench and Eom/Walta taking turns behind Vipotnik and Idah.
Possibly try for another RWB as key could do it but we need back up with a bit of quality. We’ve decent quality on the left but desperately need a proper ball playing centre half and bring McKenzie through from the U21’s. We’ve decent quality are not a million miles away but changing system would negate Ronald appearing on every team sheet plus I think we’d score a shed full of goals.

With Parker & Lissah more than likely to be played at right back, not saying the club won’t bring someone in but if thentwo academy lads stay fit they won’t get a look in for me.

3rd CB, LB cover. Only mandatory ones right now

Key seems to ghost past players easier than Ronald does and way better crossing. I'd switch Key to RW. Not first choice but.....

Lissah and Parker. If Keiths right so no need for RB

WE wasted money on what looked like 2 winger improvements. Benson and Nunes. So the club know it needs to find one (3rd time lucky we get a 20 goal Scott Sinclair)

Got to sell VIP with his sales price probably at its high point

Idah becomes starting 9, with Wales and Cullen as subs. A new 9 would be better

Looking at the European leagues, when Vipi is sold maybe we should target Tomas Bobcek, maybe only playing in Poland, but has also scored goals for fun this season.

As for a new winger I'd love us to sign a maverick like Puscas winner Santiago Montiel.

I think it’s a no brainer with Parker if he can stay out of injury bother and Lissah. I don’t think Josh Key is bad it’s his consistency. Lissah can operate in central defence and on the right which I hope won’t be needed.

I think someone will come in to back up Idah if Vipotnik goes and the same for Galbraith. But if they do there will be some big money to spend, albeit over years. It doesn’t all come at once. Worth brought in Widell, Galbraith, Idah, Inoussa, Stamenić and Walta. He did more than well there. The only loan who looked good though was Yalcouyé. Didn’t see much in the others. That will be an issue for future loans if clubs see the usage of loans this past season. If that is why they want their player to go to Swansea to play, that isn’t always the case.

This will be more bout keeping players, especially Tymon and Stamenić. The club can’t undo the good work by selling off what could be a very successful squad next season. It’s pointless. The premier league will just be a dream.

There will be plenty to do and navigate my concern is there is nobody there with experience to do it.

Agree with everything there, my concern is offers coming in for players like Franco and unsettling the squad. With 3rd to 8th being in the play offs next season every club will fancy their chances and it will be a very competitive league.

this is where the owners the manager and if we get one the D O F along with the chairman must sell the dream to our current group and any new incomers, thats why a top d o f MUST be brought in to be sold the dream themselves whoever it is and to be able to pass on that dream,
keep what we have ( those the manager can work with) and add to it, the problem is unless we get more investment sponsership and shirt sales etc we are working within a legal budget what ever these new regs are

We have a desirable squad for sure. It’s been built for a premier league push, but any dismantling will set us back. Just hope the bare minimum regards sales is done. By who though !

Totally agree.
However money talks and player ambition and bank balances as we have seen in the past is a difficult one to dissuade.

For every one first choice player we lose, we must look at brining in two quality replacements (regardless of position). That's the way to strengthen rather than standing still. That's up to the scouting team to have those players already lined up.

First thing to do is replace Ronald. Galbraith is good and we need a creative midfielder but i think he will leave.

Who to bring in...god only knows.

I think we brought Walta in as a successor for when Glabriath leaves. That said I'm sure the scouting team are casting their net far and wide about other suitable replacements/strengthen the squad.

For a like for like if/when Galbraith leaves what about Cantwell? Not sure if we'd be able to prise him away from Rovers but a similar type of player with a little extra added bite.

Cantwell would be a no for me ,
the lad Bobby Wales did not set the world on fire at Hudesfield and could not break into our squad either so do we loan, sell or try him again?
with the "window" due to open on the 15th a few days from now am hoping against hope the current owners have their fingers on the button re new D O F and our chairman can just over sea the day to day running of the club and not as it is as i write him doing everything like Watson, and we all know how that turned out

Although Coleman has stood down from day to day running of the club he is still currently listed as director. Gorringe is the "face" of Swansea City but I wouldn't be surprised if Coleman still chairs board meetings. I could be wrong but I have seen no announcement of a new Chairperson after Coleman.

His role these days is merely on paper but yes of course he has input. Judging by the way he and the elusive Ken Gude left the club as Chairman at the behest of Cravatt and Cohen I would say limited.

He is merely there to cash in on any positive financial occurence should the Swans be promoted.
