Swansea City : Ross Stewart deal completed & Almeida off for now 6th Aug 2026 07:11 Despite reports of André Almeida and Ousseynou Fall Seck who are both midfielders being a long way off signing for the Swans (treat that with caution) a player did pass a medical on Wednesday afternoon. We reported this yesterday on our football forum and at the time the easiest answer could be that Ross Stewart has signed as a free agent. Well, now he has.0
Wears flip flops apparently. Click above.

Put yourself in his shoes.
How would you react if your employer suddenly told you that they'd transferred you to a different company in another country and that you'd basically be a pariah if you didn't uproot yourself and your whole family and go somewhere that you didn't ask for?
I don't blame him at all, and we should have pulled out of the deal as soon as Valencia's machinations became apparent.
This whole mess is on them.
Good point.
End of the day, we submitted a bid to the club that both parties were happy with. The player (for whatever his reasons) didn't seem as keen and didn't jump on the plane. May be a good choice for his career, he may regret it if we go up this year.
No point him coming here unconvinced and not 100% motivated. Would rather have a hole in the squad than an a$$ hole.

Im sorry but I hope they bought a crock. Words seeping out since he left do not paint him in a good picture. I thought he was the real deal last season but have been left very disappointed.
All about getting results which were possibly better without him in a midfield role or in the team?

Him apparently being an "a$$hole" is the exact opposite of the point I was making.
If anything I'm developing an admiration for his refusal to be pushed around.

Almeida wants to play in top leagues.. Failing that he would want to play for a sure fire bet like West Ham for example.
This is an indication of a confident footballer who believes in himself. It does not indicate a disruptive personality or general bad egg .in my opinion. He will come if here re no better offers. This is not under reasonable.

Yep - Valencia clearly want him away, but the move has to be right for him. A player being pushed by his club into a move that he doesn't want to a team in another country isn't going to be a happy bunny. Time to look elsewhere.

I don't disagree. But if he was here and not fully committed .. he could become an a$$ hole.
So if he doesn't want to be here no problem. As I say, may be a good move for his career, he may regret it, either way time to move on and look at the next best option.

Totally get what you're saying, but we don't want to be caught in the crossfire of what effectively is a disagreement between him and his club.
Oh yeah. I'd be pulling the plug on the deal by now, but my ire would be directed towards Valencia rather than the player.

If you watch the Swans videos of Ross on the official site it sounds like he has been at the club since Monday. Hence why there has been so much noise on social media with the speculation.

He is a mature adult and a Professional footballer. There is no one medication that he is the new Renato Sanches.
Oh f he came he he would not stink the place out as it would be professional suicide Swansea want him and he should have no grudge against Swansea.
If he is professional he will see himself as a Premier league footballer in the Championship and go out every week to prove it. He has FOUR World cup players around him.

Both Vitor and Ben made much of having the right player fit in terms of skils and attitude during questioning at last night's forum....it doesn't seem Almeida is demonstrating the "off field" fit we are looking for based on what was said last night so let it go
Better to be slightly disappointed now before he signed rather than after if he had

If he signed for us he would be playing with five players who played in the World Cup.

I think Valencia wanted to sell him to free up money for spending on other players. Valencia finished 12th in La Liga in 2025-26.
According to Opta:
"During the 2025–26 La Liga season, André Almeida saw his overall playtime and output decrease at Valencia CF due to injuries and tactical shifts, but he maintained highly efficient passing metrics.
Metric Comparison: 2024–25 vs. 2025–26
The table below outlines how his volume metrics dropped during his reduced role in 2025–26 while his efficiency stayed largely identical:
Metric 2024–25 2025–26 Games Played 34 22 Games Started 23 11 Minutes Played 1,988 1,027 Goals 0 0 Assists 4 2 Pass Completion % 90% 91% Total Passes Attempted 756 444 Successful Tackles 15 13 Total Shots Taken 9 5 Shots on Target 3 4 Yellow / Red Cards 2 / 0 0 / 0
I think the key phrase is that the manager changed tactics and he wasn't going to be anything but a 2nd choice. The writing was on the wall and he wasn't going to get much playing time. Kinda like the Cullen situation.

Maybe his attitude is the reason Valencia are trying so hard to get shot of him
