A totally one footed player who isnt a great tackler,erratic passer,shocking goal scoring record ,ghost of a captain and has no pace.

Let' not forget he was captain and should have had input in how we played and thus made sure the movement was there for him to pas.

He seemed to improve year after year. I think it can be a bad thing relying on one player all the time. Hopefully if he goes our build up play will finally be quicker instead of sideways 100 per cent pass rate stat that sky seems to love. If you were going to reintroduce passing and movement to our game you would start with Grimes as one of very few that we have who actually passes and moves into space.

Grimes will thrive in the Premier League - particularly with a footballing team like Southampton. Seems like at least two top managers and clubs rate him. "Lack of pace?"- his speed of recovery got us out of jail so many many times this season. Superb player and a worthy captain by example. | | | |

Grimes has his detractors much the same way as Jack Cork had his. The latter went to Burnley and has been a regular bar injuries over the last few seasons in a side that’s still in the PL, meanwhile Swansea have spent 3 seasons in the Championship. Grimes in my opinion is a decent player in the right side with the right players alongside him. | | | |

I may be proven wrong but I am not sure the PL interest is as "hot" as rumoured.
I dont think you can compare JAck Cork with Matty Cork had played at PL level with us and Southampton many of our fans didnt rate Cork because he "wasnt Leon" different type of player but has done well at Burnley | |

Again, I wouldn’t care how he got on in the PL, I’d care about the gaping hole in our midfield we’d probably try to patch up cheaply.
I hope you’re right and he’s with us next season. He’s our best midfielder by a distance.

Potter was very keen to bring in Ryan Woods from Brentford but the club baulked at the £6,m fee. Last season 46 games on loan at Millwall. Could he be a like for like replacement? Out of favour at Stoke who are cutting their cloth not beofre time and woud probably accept a low bid. |  |
