Surely, if you now make a major F UP it’s going to be called a KWASI KWARTENG ???!

I bet Pete Tong is watching this space with interest.

I wonder if he’s going to get a promotion and pay rise out of this?

It’s not an F Up though. He’s achieved exactly what he set out to achieve. More money for his mates and all the people who has put him there.

My personal opinion is this budget/financal event will be a disaster for most of us, unless we are rich we are screwed.

It doen't stop me from hoping it turns out we are all wrong and it's actually a masterstroke because otherwise thousands of peoples lives will be ruined.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Shorting the pound for the massive benefit of the super rich. Surely no one still believes Conservative financial policies are intended to improve an economy for its people? We've had 12 years of convincing proof otherwise.

The Prime Minister works for energy companies, her chief of staff is under investigation by the FBI and is paid by private lobbying firms, and the Chancellor of the Exchequer works for finance brokers. The only "mistake" he's made was getting high at the Queen's funeral, and the media did a cracking job of covering that up despite being on camera making a tit of himself.

The contempt they have for the British people isn't even hidden behind closed doors any more. They're getting sloppier but the intent is as its always been. Protect the powerful, fck the peasant class.

With respect it’s not even just the peasant class anymore. Thatcher and her cronies did a fantastic job of flogging off a load of council houses and convincing the people in them that they were middle class because they owned a property.

I wonder if they’ll get massive consultancy jobs after they’ve left government with the people who’ve made fortunes!!

This is not for the football board, but would it have happened if people had not pushed to get rid of Boris and therefore Sunak. Be careful what you wish for.

Don't forget the Tory MP's wanted Sunak to be PM.

It's the 100,00 or so Tory members who elected Liz Truss to be PM, i suspect due in part to the ethnicity of her opponent.

We're in this position thanks to 100,000 people voting for a new PM. Out of 40 odd million people eligible to vote in the country, 100,00 elected her.

Any change in leader of the governing party should trigger a general election.

We've been on a steep downward track for years, so yes this was coming regardless of who was Prime Minister. The difference now is that the affable buffoon mask has come entirely off and it's more obvious than ever what their intentions always are.

Kwarteng and Truss have us six months ahead of schedule, if we're being generous to public-funded partyer Boris and billionaire US citizen Sunak.

The favourite amongst the members was Kemi Badendoch (probably spelled that wrong) so I’m not sure the Sunak was rejected because of racists narrative carries an awful lot of weight under scrutiny.

What I don't understand is these Tories saying that tax cuts will help everyone 🤔. How does that work then my wife cares for her mum and dad full time now they won't go into a home or have carers she doesn't pay tax anymore on carers allowance so how does that help her and millions of others who don't pay tax

But a millionaire is 55k a year better off great that isn't it 🤬

I'm sure i had read somewhere that Kwarteng had meetings with hedge fund bosses prior to unveiling the policies.
These hedge funds went on to make exorbitant profits.

"Trickle down economics" i.e. the myth that if the very rich get even richer they will invest more in services and pay higher wages out of the goodness of their hearts, rather than putting all their money offshore or in property to leech rents from working people.

Like austerity and the "national credit card" it's all blatant lies designed to make the greedy sound reasonable and sensible, and demonise public spending over private profit. The British media has done a bang up job of convincing people that these policies are for our own good (as in work to strengthen or repair an economy in the short/medium/long term), when there's decades of evidence around the world that they never, ever work.

The theory is all these top earners who will be saving thousands will suddenly rush out and spend it all which will boost the economy, create jobs and turn this country into a glorious land of milk and honey.

The only problem with the theory is it’s complete bollocks.

Family members who care for a fellow family member can get relief.

What about those in their 70s

This government is completely off the wall and ,frankly,Im rather worried as Kwateng seems genuinely doped up.

Those in 70s get above inflation rise every year and winter fuel if only the workers could get the same

What workers?
Why don’t we have a country that looks after old people which doesn’t see therm darted off to a care home where the highlight of the door is chicken nuggets .we treat older people like shite including those who worked their ring pieces off all their lives whilst the shirkers end up not having to pay for care

This is exactly the kind of division they thrive on. This is not about pensioners vs workers. We are all in the same boat being laughed at by the rich and powerful.

Lets not make it a debate about who has it worst, as we all are currently stuck in varying degrees of sht.

I don’t quite see it exactly like that I genuinely believe KK is utterly inept and deluded Truss wants power and if they think this will win them the next election then they are insane And they might be

Turning it into a debate about who has it worse off just lets them off the hook is all im saying.
Judging by the amount of money made by the hedge funds and Truss and Kwartengs links to them it is pretty plain that this was a bit of a plot.
In my opinion they know the next election is lost, they are just trying to reap what they can and cause as much damage as they can before they are ousted.
What they have done will not be fixed within a decade.

18 months is a long time in politics. There are going to be many twists and turns by the next election. Labour have had an easy ride the last 18 months and should be much further ahead.
