Swansea City, Indy exclusive : Everything ok Jeremy ? 26th Sep 2026 08:00
Jeremy Monga has been a bit of a mystery for some Swansea City followers since his arrival on loan from Manchester City. When this happens people ask questions, some even offer their own theories but really it’s only trusted sources that get you at least part way to a solution. 1

Good read that and gives us an insight into what is going on, he's a very young man to be away from home in new surroundings and people new to him, patience is the key here, I guess that things will develop as the season goes on.

It's a good article, but football is a results-driven business, and we have neither the depth of squad to cover for this player not being available, nor the off-field resources to support him with whatever is causing his reluctance to be involved.

It sounds like this was a good idea on paper, but the reality is proving to be something else. So it seems like the best thing is to put it down to experience and let him move on.

We need to remember Matos is not keen on loans, I just wonder how much of this one is linked to us applying for Cat1 and the profile it has brought. Two months ago he was a 16 year old kid earning £1,500 a week, then a £10M transfer and wages of somewhere north of £30K a week, his head is probably fried. Hopefully with the correct support here and in Manchester he can turn things around.

If the issues are about settling in etc. I wonder if he needs more stability rather than being sent out on loan regularly.

Every premier league team has people assigned to any loanee going out to another club. They remain in contact with the player on a daily basis and at least weekly with the club.

I don't agree. Quite a few wondered why we'd loaned him bacuse we are very well stocked in wide positions, Eom, Ronald, Opoku, Yeo and then Widdell and Just can play wide too. It's the one area we are covered in abunfance.

I'd also argue we do have the resources, I'd say our current owners have far more resources than any other owner in our history, the amount they are spending on the non playing side of the club surely shows that AND, as we also send young players out on loan we will have the people to deal with this just as Man City do.

Whatever the issue is, resources are not a problem, not in my opinion. All I can hope for is that whatever it is the young man gets all the help he needs and gets himself out on the pitch to dazzle our opponents sooner rather than later.

I'm sure he'd feel the love if he played and scored against Cardiff

I’m
Not sure I’m really out of sink with many but I see this as a “ positive
We have a plethora of wide men but not where he need them , viz full back
This is a 17 kid who is basically a gamble albeit seen as having massive potential
We shouldn’t be developing players for other clubs especially proven cheats like Man City
We should not trust them for a millisecond
We are not a crèche either and it’s not down to us to see him mature

We need players already up to it

He's been here about three weeks in total and there's lots going on. We're not desperate for him to come into the team at the moment so there's no real rush. He'll probably get eased into the picture as we move through the Autumn. Let's be honest, he won't have to do all that well to eclipse many of our recent loan acquisitions, especially the wingers.

Any assistance that our handling of him will give to our Ca1 Application will always be a bonus.

You're conflating a number of different arguments. This isn't about "feeling the love"; I'm sure some of our scapegoat players would feel the love if they scored against Cardiff.

But we're not talking about that in this instance. This is about someone who apparently isn't wanting to be here. If that's the case then we need to act quickly and move on.

I loved the article—the level of quality in the writing is incredible, without speculating or creating unnecessary drama or controversy. Things are looking promising, but we’ll definitely have to wait for more info after the international break. It is a bit worrying that we might not have him fully fit, as he’s a player who makes a real difference, but we just have to keep faith in the club

Here is the English translation, crafted to sound completely natural, fluent, and authentic for a British football forum like The Indy while maintaining your exact meaning, player references, and tactical perspective:

"I get your point, and I agree that we seem to have the best financial backing we've had since we were relegated. But out of all the wingers we have, I don't think any of them are good enough in 1-v-1 situations. I don't see them actually breaking down defences with a great piece of individual skill, and Jeremy seems to be the only one who offers something different in that regard.

It’s part and parcel of the industry he’s in though. If he wants to be successful he has to be comfortable away from home, out of his comfort zone and moving around a lot, Frank Lampard has often been quoted regarding his loan to Swansea when we were in the doldrums in the fourth tier as being something that massively helped him toughen up.

Footballers earn great money but it is no means an easy life. These are the things every promising footballer has to deal with. If you can’t deal with it you probably aren’t cut out to be a top player despite any prodigious talent you may have.

This is what Monga is finding out, you can have all the talent in the world but without application and professionalism it means nothing. Hopefully Man City have had serious discussions with him the past week. Otherwise another talent could be wasted.

This is true but what is also a fact is that he’s just a young lad and a human being. It’s not easy being away from home for the first time at that age. All the money in the world can’t compensate for homesickness. If that’s what it is of course.

I haven't conflated anything and I added that on to then end as a personal opinion.

In my opinion we are more than well stocked in that position and can afford to carry his absence better than any other time in recent years.

Those are both points you made that I disagreed with. Anything else I said is purely my opinion.

If it was that much of a problem they'd send him back.

Yeah it’s can’t be easy but then it’s not easy for any footballer. You have to go where you have to be. You’re on the road a lot or on a plane or sitting in hotels. It’s like training for years to become the world’s best pilot then when you’re actually sitting in the cockpit saying “I don’t like this, I’m scared of heights”.

It’s a profession that by its very nature you’re never at home, you go to whatever club will pay the most money for you.

Adapt or fail.

Probably less than 1% make it, football is a dream killer. Very few get to walk away when they wish, normally you are just told you are no longer wanted, be it at whatever age 8, 11, 16, 21 or even in your 30s.

Yes, true but my point was his age. If he’d never been away up until now it’s a shock to the system. Most will have experienced it at sometime in their lives. Persistence is the only way around it and comfort from those around you to make the new place home as quick as possible.

Yep exactly my point. You either get on with it and knuckle down or you moan and sulk and don’t get anywhere. Pretty much every young player gets sent out on loan at some point all over the place and they need to be helped to settle in but it’s a huge learning curve that every player has to go through. There are a lot worse places to go than Swansea.

Dead right, when Gary Richards was down the Swans coaching he said the hardest part of the job was telling kids they were being released because they weren't good enough.

It doesn't have to be that he's moaning about anything, he could just be struggling with being away from home, those of the right age will remember Robbie James going to Arsenal and not lasting long, in fact a one month loan/trial barely lasted 24 hours.
