I don't think we have the quality and attributes to go up.

But I think we enter this part of the season with all to play for.

We are capable of a play off spot as no one around us is a magnificent team.
How we do if we finish in the play off spots is in the lap of the gods.

It's great our season isn't "dead" yet!

When Huddersfield went up in 2017 they had a minus goal difference anything is possible in this league.

Poll: Would you like Cooper to stay or go (regardless of compensation situation)

Personally I’d rather us be brave & play some decent attacking football & see how it pans out.

Unfortunately I think come the season ends it will be a lot of what ifs.

I do admire dickythorpe's positivity, but I'm with the majority of us who don't see that happening.

To squeeze into the last play-off position we would probably need about 73 points, i.e. 22 points from these last 12 matches, and there's been no realistic sign of any improvement in the team to be able to do that.

But, hey, at least we're safe from relegation.

Poll: Who should be our next manager? Please name them.

Since we’ve reverted back to playing wingers, we have scored 7 goals in 2 games, having only managed 7 goals in the previous 9 games. Continue this and we’re in with a chance of the play offs.

Whatever happens, it looks like we could play a pivotal part in the final run of games for the play offs. (Taking away Reading)

Last 4 games:

Leeds (h)
Nottingham Forrest (A)
Bristol City (H)
Reading (A)

If this squad was promoted it would probably come straight back down breaking Derby County’s all time low points record especially when Cooper signs the likes of Woodman permanently and Brewster in a season long loan, players that are clearly not PL standard.
Some people won’t want to hear that but you know it’s true.

The way teams seem to be falling all over each other, seemingly trying to lose and draw as many games as they can, I'm not so sure we even need 73 points. No one seems to be able to string together more than two wins on the bounce.

I've previously said that even if we get to the playoffs we don't have what it takes, and I still think that

But then again knockout, tournament football is Cooper's forte, he won the under 17 World Cup with England dontcha know, and his PowerPoint for the senior England side is what took em all the way to the Semis and gave quite a few a semi by all accounts.

You've worked out in just eight games for a team under a manager who thinks that attack is something you use to put posters up that Brewster is "clearly not PL standard"? Impressive.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I think it's possible to go up. just because the Championship is weak this season.

We could make the play-offs and then it's a coin toss as to who gets promoted.

The worry is what happens then. Our beloved owners won't spend and we'd be in the Prem with our current team.

It would be a massacre.

They spent when we had the money.
My concern would be the manager.

Not spending a lot is probably the best option anyway. Low transfer spending & low wages for PL would ensure we make a large profit in 2020/21 and are ready to contend in the Championship with some money. It also guarantees the academy's Cat 1 status for years to come, & makes the chances of the yanks selling even higher.

Just think what we could do with new owners, a financially stable situation, & 2 seasons of parachute payments in this league. Norwich next season will be a close example of what this would look like.

They just don't seem to want it enough to me

If by some miracle we did go up most of them wouldn't get in the team next season

No incentive, no belief and not enough goals, but still doing better than most expected this seasin, that's something

3pts tonight and we can start dreaming again, its no coincidence that we are scoring more goals with two competent wingers available, Coops gets slated but he hasn't had much option out wide up until now.

Agreed that is a likely reality but it should not stop us trying (and I'm sure you agree). Cooper and the team must show endeavour not just cruise to the end of the season with engines on idle.
