Heard the tail end of his interview on Call Rob and he was defensive to the extreme, accusing the interviewer bringing up formation. You could hear anger in his voice.
The studio pundits picked up on it and felt he is too stubborn which may make him employ the same tactics over and over, not willing to concede he’s wrong.

I had already changed my outlook and conceded to Dr P he was right. Do others on here now need to be a bit more gracious to the people who were dubious from very early on?
I gave Martin his chance, I waited, I watched, I supported but all the same I have been questioning him and now it seems that many others are questioning him too.
All Martins fine words come down to the same thing, he is trying to make the tam fit his plan with poor tactics that don't change even when its clear they are not working, poor team selection that has too many players in wrong positions and too many excuses or outrageous claims.
When we have changed tactics, those few times, we have been a far better team. martin sadly then reverts to type.
Vetchonian, Dr P, OHL and a few others have just turned out to be right. they may have jumped a bit early for the rest of us but even so, proved right.
Martin is not the man for us unless he can see his failings and adjust his thinking, learn, progress.
I still want Martin to succeed but now it is clear he won't unless he does what he calls the unthinkable and sacrifice his beliefs. If he stays as he is we are not going to improve because no more players will want to come here unless we offer silly money.
He said he wanted football to be fun to watch but now he has turned us into a slow, boring, predictable side, easy to counter for any decent manager.
Did he really say that Blackpool had a lot of the ball? they had 24%, has he lost the plot completely? it is bizarre. | |

Fair play Cat, bit of class there.
For me it’s never been about “being right” as some have tried to say. The issue for me came when a few posters were pretending what was being pointed out was not the case, a fabrication and accusing others of being negative, having an agenda and not being true fans.
I was very clear from the word go that these issues weren’t time specific and they were issues going to be there going forward unless we change. I just think it’s terrible that he doesn’t seem to understand why his tactics aren’t working, and after digging into his time at MK Dons, he didn’t understand why they weren't working there either.

Thank you Dr P. It is just my honest opinion though.
If Martin is not learning then we are not improving. Worse still for him personally, if he refuse to learn then his career will hit a massive stumbling block.
He has to re-think his principles and accept that he is still learning and he can be wrong. Being a decent enough player doesn't guarantee being a decent manager. | |

We ARE a laughing stock,as I have stated.The reason I am so livid is the fact that good people are being insulted by Martin and this endless narrative of Nothing .
Good long term fans,bad fans like me too-filth that don't go to many games unlike others.
Fact is ,it matters not who is or who is not a good fan but the state of our club.
Right now ,we are losing games and the coach thinks we were the better team as we had more possession .You dominate a game by winning it. We are seeing what we are seeing. Good players destroyed .Our good name sullied by this man. We do not play good football.

I think posters on here have seen and the players are experiencing this. The trouble is it the club that bears this hitting of a stumbling block.
The idea is good - draw the opposition into a high press , pass through them and score.
We haven’t been doing nearly enough of steps 2 and 3. | |

For me it’s never been about “being right” as some have tried to say. The issue for me came when a few posters were pretending what was being pointed out was not the case, a fabrication and accusing others of being negative, having an agenda and not being true fans.

Even though I detest the way we play at the moment , If he can tweek and improve(big if) during the summer, the system has the potential to destroy the division like Man City do. But I have a feeling the next club after us will reap the benefits of his work experience with us. |  |

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that would be another 3 months and what little transfer money we have, wasted.
When a painful decision has to be made, it's far better to do it sooner rather than prolong the agony, because watching the swans at the moment is agony.
