Third time back as manager and their third manager of the season: we know that's not a winning equation but agree they'll improve now. Lot of teams in it. We just need to keep current six match form up: Win two or three, draw a couple and lose the odd game, repeat, and we'll be ok.

Over Marti's time in charge we average 1.26 points per game. At that rate we finish with 47. Enough? Touch and go.

We've just got to focus on ourselves. Everybody up to Cardiff in 14th (nine points above the relegation zone with 13 games left) are realistically still in this. Rotherham are gone but there's still ten clubs fighting to avoid the other two places.

Plymouth seem to be in a bit of free fall atm. Only 1 point from their last five games. Gonna be a lot of twists and turns, and squeaky bum moments till the end of the season

This keeps on happening with different teams. Birmingham lost a whole load of games, now back in 15th. Blackburn much the same, now in 16th on the same points. Then it was Stoke. None of them dropped into the bottom three at any point. We just need to continue our current trend, do that and we'll soon be a few points clear.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Biggest regret was not going to Hyde Park to see Tom Petty in 2017. it was a Sunday night and my GF at the time, her babysitter let her down so sold tickets last minute on viagogo or whatever. he died a few months after

Shame you could not go, it was a great gig at Hyde Park and Stevie Nicks joined him on stage for a couple of tunes. Tom Petty a fantastic artist gone too soon.

Many musical journalists and commentators think Tom Petty wrote “Into the Great Wide Open" as an allegory for the journey of a young adult living the American Dream who moves to Hollywood with his partner in search of a brighter future. In actual fact, he wrote it while on loan to Peterborough to take the pìss out of how easy it was to play through the QPR midfield.

I think we were 8 points clear of relegation or something when Ainsworth took over. Millwall are only 1 point clear. He's got a tough job and a poor recent record in the championship. Madness to get rid of Rowett. .

Didn't they sack Harris after a defeat by us?

If so this smacks of they were still paying him the compensation money as a monthly wage and needed to replace the current incumbent and Harris keeps the outgoings in equilibrium.

They were / are the team to watch for me.
I was absolutely GUTTED when we served up that bucket of shite at their gaff Boxing Day as we'd looked to have kick started them again. Hopefully they're in such a rut they will continue to spiral.

We've just got to get above them and then maintain their form and that of Cheff Weds as a minimum.

Still think it'll take a miracle looking at our run in.

Genuine question

Can a manager who is sacked, go and work for another club AND still get paid by the former?

I thought the first club had to pay their wages unless they got another job.Obviously only until the contract runs out.

Yes.

As i understand it the sick, mad and twisted world of football and fixed service Contracts is the agreed weekly wage / overall remuneration must be paid.
So if you are earning £5k a week get sacked for anything that's not a breach of contract you are entitled to £5k a week.
If you get another job paying £4k a week then the £1k a week is made up by previous employer

Exceptions to this are dependent on break clauses and how the Contract is framed.

I can't remember who but there was a Manager previously who was sacked but then was entitled to a promotion bonus when the club who jettisoned him finished second.

Mental.

I’m glad I did great concert joined on stage by Stevie Nicks so sad he died months later after a medication mix up.

Had the pleasure of seeing Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers 17 times since 1987 and on his final run in Wrigley Field a few months before he died .
Unfortunatly Tom broke his hip but refused to cancel the tour and was taking heavy prescription drugs mixed with his recreational drugs and that lethal combination killed him .
Of course like Prince he had his heart give out when he was alone and not found until next morning which was too late for both sadly.
What a loss .
As for millwall I think we will wave at them as we switch places in a week or so

That Schumacher to Stoke move has the potential (like our Ainsworth hire) of being one of those appointments that's detrimental to both clubs and the bloke involved.

Really think Millwall and Stoke are the 2 for us to watch. Huddersfield look good enough to get out of it whilst Brum and Blackburn likely have enough to stay afloat. Swansea seem to be forever, tantalisingly a few points to many ahead

The Rotherham game is enormous because a win likely lifts us out the bottom 3 and may be the turning point that our improvement under Cifuentes coincides with Millwall and Stoke sinking

I would have agreed with you about Huddersfield while the caretaker was in charge but the new guy is unknown. He may turn out to be one of those who the players just don't get.

From talking to some Huddersfield fans, a couple of the Jan signings have started well along with a less defensive approach from the caretaker manager. It will be interesting to see what approach the new permanent manager will take.

Cambridge not wasting many words of farewell.

Neil Harris has today left his role as Head Coach of Cambridge United to join Championship side Millwall, following an official approach this morning and contractual compensation being paid...

Assistant Head Coach Barry Corr, supported by Kevin Betsy, will take charge of the team ahead of Saturday’s game against Peterborough United.
