| RND 16:18 - Dec 1 with 4647 views | Beckenhamhoop | Should we sign RND on a permanent in January if it’s an option or wait til the end of the season and see what’s available? He’s an upgrade on Paal but is he anything more than a solid defender? I’d be reasonably happy to sign him but can’t shift that nagging doubt that we should be looking to sign someone better. | | | | |
| RND on 16:28 - Dec 1 with 2227 views | Superhoops2808 | Yes, on a 1.5 year deal with an option to extend. Sadly not sure it will be an option but lets hope so | | | |
| RND on 16:32 - Dec 1 with 2217 views | terryb | It's always an option. If the club decide they want him they make an offer for him, if they don't want to pay money for him they don't. My expectation is that he will stay on loan until the end of the season & then we say goodbye. I'm interested who the better full backs at this level are. I thought Giles at Hull was one of the best, but he was responsible for both Ipswich goals last week. I've no idea if that was a one off, or like quite a few I see, they are not that good at defending! | | | |
| RND on 17:02 - Dec 1 with 2153 views | Northernr | Promoted to and played in the prem with Sheff Utd, he’ll be on a good wedge. If the manager doesn’t think he’s a better lb than Sam Field then probs not. | | | |
| RND on 17:11 - Dec 1 with 2110 views | colinallcars | He's very professional - cool as the proverbial cucumber. I'd like to see him stay. | | | |
| RND on 17:22 - Dec 1 with 2048 views | Gus_iom | I really like him, and I was one of those who thought he would be a bad signing. Should we make his deal permanent? For me it really depends on the likelihood of him physically being able to play the majority of games in a season, and how likely he is to pick up another serious injury. | |

| RND on 17:37 - Dec 1 with 1991 views | actonman | Since day one , he has shown to be a textbook left back , not many thrills but does what he does well and gets up the pitch aswell . Nobody better in that position at the club and should be one of the first in the team sheet | | | |
| RND on 18:37 - Dec 1 with 1840 views | dmm | I'd prefer us to wait and make a decision at the end of the season. I'm glad he's with us, but he's only played 12 times, so it would be wise to see how he performs over the next 28 games or so. | | | |

I’d assume they do but whether Wilder would want him back is debatable as he hardly played him over the last few seasons. He’s been the best left back we’ve had for ages and been a solid 6/7 in most games so I’d definitely sound them out about buying him.
| RND on 19:03 - Dec 1 with 1756 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | He's alright, but just not quick enough for me. Plus his wages will be high. So, no. | |

He is what he is. Brought in as emergency cover because the Larkeche plan was silly to start with and then got torpedoed. He’ll fill in fine. I’d be amazed if we signed him, or that anybody thinks we should really.

Not sure we’d be able to replace him with a faster more attacking left back without spending excessive money. Assuming he’s out of contract in the summer and he’d accept our wage structure he’d be a good signing.

As he’s neither of those things he would indeed not be a good signing.

Well, I think he's been good going forward - not lightening fast but a good crosser.

And add a third centre back to those already sitting on the bench/not able to make the match day squad? I’ve seen loads of SM accounts saying we need Edwards, a CM and a RB or even another striker in January. Personally I don’t think we should sign anyone. This squad is more than good enough to be comfortably in the top half of the table. I know it sounds obvious but they just need to play better and, especially after the last two games, the team selection/rotation needs to improve. You can’t constantly lust for fresh meat.

Totally agree on the constant list for more blood. Said it many times. The rabidly online element of our support and their obsession with signings is depressing and damaging. Every summer “HMS Piss the League”, every November “we need five more in January”. Tbf Scott Parker has made a managerial career out of it. BUT… for all the improvements in recruitment over the summer, they took a team with issues in goal, at full back, at centre back and centre mid into the transfer window and came out of it with the same.

What kind of message would buying another goalkeeper send out to Walsh and Cooper? Sometimes you have to take a punt on a young player because of financial constraints or ensuring that fabled pathway doesn’t get covered in weeds. I still wouldn’t dismiss Walsh who suffered as a result of our early playing style and being whooped by Coventry. We’ve changed our style re playing out from the back and I think Walsh could re establish himself and do well (fingers crossed). We bought Mbengue at CB. You may have a point re CM and LB but I assume our budget wasn’t bottomless and sometimes you have to either take a punt on a young player or just hope for the best. Just because supporters want a new player because of an apparent or even obvious shortcoming doesn’t mean they get what they want.

If we have a bad December and the fixtures don’t look to kind , it will be a good PR signing coming in for sure . So they will prob will got for Edwards even if they don’t get him it keeps the fans happy .a while longer because we all want to see our favolayers play every week don’t we ?

I agree that we don’t need Edwards in January as it’s the one position we have plenty of options with youngsters like Tylon Smith waiting for a chance as well. Unless we sell one of them but I can’t see it happening.

Personally, I’d rather have owners and a CEO who manage the clubs budget wisely and appropriately rather than just ‘keeping fans happy’ but if we were all the same…..

Better to have it than need it and be looking for it. Edwards is hands down the best defender to have regularly pulled on our jersey in five years (and I love Jimmy Dunne). I’d sign him and fcuk off whoever we have to get him here. Then there’s also the fact that he’d do a job DCM quite easily and we seem to be ever so wanting there As for RND - I like him, if we get a good deal, fine, if we don’t and he goes at end of season, fine. If he’s recalled 30 Jan then the club best have a plan as I’m not seeing any other decent option at the moment. I think the Brazilian will be off. Looks a big bag of attitude to me and has ideas above his current abilities. [Post edited 2 Dec 9:01]
