Sunday tea of tinned sardines on toast followed by a tin of fruit salad with some Carnation evaporated milk. A treat I was told. I don’t think so now but they were simpler times. |
I regularly have sardines on toast for lunch. A dash of Worcestershire sauce takes them to another level, mmm.
Anyone remember toast toppers? As a child, I adored them. It was probably loaded with MSG.

Must be cheap to make and/or sells well.
I predict chocolate to make a big comeback this year. Is chocolate the vinyl record of the food world? Never goes away but just varies in price a lot and always on the comeback.

Used to quite like liver sausage (and if it's basically "liver pate" it's probably fairly healthy, as meat goes?)

I find it highly amusing how averse some people are to sago, tapioca and semolina. They're bland carbohydrates, there's nothing to dislike. Although saying that so's mashed potato and that was never at its best in school meals. I have noted a link between sago/tapioca/semolina phobia and negative experiences at fee-paying schools... |  |

I used to have lunch in the Mawson next to Fullers brewery. Their meats were from Mrs Owton's butchers. The pork pies were heaven.
Owton's sell on line but don't do the pork pies anymore.
Edit, Fullers closed the lovely Mawson and wanted to develop it into posh flats. Chiswick council planning said no. I live in hope of the Mawson opening again. [Post edited 28 May 21:10]

Tapioca and sago are the same thing.... and we had them at our state junior school so not sure about your theory... 😂 we also had spam fritters, spotted dick and jam roly poly with custard... and chocolate custard... all of which I loved.. :) | |
