Resting Burrell – given his injuries last season – and the temptation to bring him on if he’s on the bench – give him Saturday off to recharge and bring on Alfie/Obikwu.
If we’re going to do anything this season we can’t just rely on Burrell, time for Kone to start firing.

I also agree. But I'm worried about JD. I know he is a titan but even with international breaks it is unrealistic in my opinion to expect him to deliver as captain for 9 months non-stop. In the back of my mind I am hoping that Boy Kemper has that same force to bear upon centre forwards at centre back. |  | | |

Vale’s finishing was very poor but on the plus side it’s great to have a midfielder getting that far forward and being in the right place to shoot in the first place. | | | |

Middlesbrough will be playing two back to back away games in the space of 3 days - something that we had two or three times last year. I can’t think that their players would have got to bed much before 2am this morning or that they’ll be expected to do any training or match prep today which just leaves tomorrow and the five hour trip to London. I don’t think we could have asked for a better scenario, fixture wise, to play one of the better teams in the league. | |

Not sure Saito was poor, the ref definitely wasn't having him though.
A bit like Smyth I think the refs are briefed on them and sometimes there is a bias applied, where they don't give them anything, even when its a blatant foul.
I thought Koki was OK, looked better drifting into the centre, still not strong enough for the Champ and could be quicker to close down, although I'm not sure Ng was his man to mark for the goal.

i actually though last night was one of saitos best games since he rejoined us , Hussle bussle from him the old saito was back in the building big time . for me vale is the weak link wasted some good chances , hasnt got the pace to track back and win the ball , certain games fit vale and last night once again wasnt one of them. its nice to be in a ppstion when changes that are force onto us for 3 game weeks arent affecting the team or how we are setting up , hasnt happened for a long while | |

football is funny game... Saito created two dangerous opportunities and if those go in - some will say hes as good as Bruno Fernandes... since they were missed - some say he played poor and needs to be dropped
I think he played well, created chances and won us the corner for the goal etc. Goal was Varane I think dropping too deep and not picking up his man |  |

The link up play in the team is a lot better so far this season. Saito has improved dramatically in this area but Kamara oozes class and is kind of like watching Derry, Barker and Holloway rolled into one. But Saito looks a lot stronger and more aware. |  |

I would be packing the midfield. Boro walked through us in both games last season. Yes Hackney is gone but we can't let them dominate the middle again. Even at the expense of some attacking talent.
Burrell will play, maybe not start with a quick turnaround, comes on from the bench on 45/60. You don't score 2 goals then disappear from the squad.
Without getting too tactics technical I think it's a 4-3-3 job with Edwards in front of JCS/Dunne and Kamara/Madsen slightly ahead.

We broke Burrell last season running him in to the ground and he was out for a long time.
