102 points is an incredible achievement and credit is due to all responsible. For a manager who is so performance driven, he's had little to say about performances the last four games. Two great comebacks indeed, but our play has been woeful and far behind from what it was many times this season. We couldn't find any space to work in as we were so slow and lacking in movement, yet we left Wealdstone with loads of space to operate in. How is that down to the fans? This has been noticed on the terraces - we do watch games! To have come so far and then play so badly of course influences perceptions and emotions. Jim seemingly doesn't get that in his latest post-match, but, never mind. Two games to go. The support will be there. Will the performances that drive on support be there? Support is down to fans. Performances are down to Jim.
Have to say the officials v Wealdstone were as bad as I've seen this season, bar know nowt Darren Drysdale.
Onwards and upwards - UP THE DALE.

Feels at times we are experiencing the old “ dope on the ropes “ re our rivalry with York but we are managing to come back when all looks lost..let’s hope we can find that final knockout punch over the next 2 games.

At the start of the game Dale had purpose and belief. As the game wore on Wealdstone's tactic of being aggressive (at times leaving the boot in) started to have an impact on the Dale players. Wealdstone bullied and harassed their way into the game. Dale were unae to get a foothold after that.
The referee was picky and inconsistent. Dale player booked for tugging their player back. Fair booking. He then gave Dale free kicks for the same offense on at least two occasions and no booking. Mani up front was being pushed pulled and kicked all over the place.
Dale conceded after what looked like a trip on Rodney and started to play more direct. Unfortunately the tactic doesn't work with Mani on his own up front.
The substitutions made the desired impact. EEL's attempt was offside. Hendo produced yet more magic and to be honest I ran round the house like a lunatic when we got the winner.
I'll be watching the York game on DAZN as well as I didn't get a ticket but hope there is still that glimpse of hope.

Most of the criticism is quite fair, but you’re right. It’s not about how we win now.
The amount of guts and fight in this squad when the pressure reached its highest point in the season so far cannot be underestimated.
I mean Mani D is a great target man and earlier in the season we seemed to be playing more balls into the box which he finished - I even think 1 header was at Wealdstone away. Sutton we were desperate and scored with 2 balls into the box, yesterday evening both goals and EEL's header were balls into the box.

There is some business to take care of first … on Saturday in Essex. This should not be underestimated…
Another win in dramatic fashion.. Magnificent last 15 minutes after to be honest 70 minutes or so of a difficult watch.
The players are so together… what a season.. let’s now go and finish the job.
After 60+ seasons , I thought I was inured to my expectations being deflated, and for a large portion of yesterdays game it seemed as though a shockingly weak referee and linesmen and the simple thought that the intensity of the season so far had taken too much out of the players had conspired to deflate me even further... And then the Christmas miracle arrived early, lady luck is either smiling on us or playing a poor joke, but...... the impossible became once again the possible. The dream survives for another week, the dread of failure persists, but at the back of my mind another idea is starting to emerge..... Perhaps.... Perhaps this time it will be different...We are jus over 180 minutes from doing what no other Rochdale team has achieved...Even now I dare not say it or write it for fear of somehow jinxing it, but perhaps this is the moment, the season we can look back on with and say "I was there".... I was there when we beat Blackburn Rovers in the league Cup Semi final, I was there for the first leg of the Final against Norwich , I was there when we beat Coventry City, I was there when we drew with Tottenham and Newcastle... So, twice more dear friends, twice more unto the breach"......Come ooooonnn!

I wonder how much their bright all yellow kit played a part, it definitely made then look like they had more players. And I imagined Dale players on the ball looking up to play a pass, could only see the yellow. I found it a very strange performance from us, as we failed to get close to them on many occasions, they were a huge side and must be a nightmare to play against, especially when you looked at the height of most of our side. I found it strange we long as often as we did because of this.

There's been talk about mental and physical fatigue, but if that's the case then it can't just be unique to our squad of players, that must also apply to York and the other Play Off clubs, so let's not use that as a excuse and feel sorry for ourselves. Think how mentally fatigued the Braintree players must be after being relegated on Saturday.
The players now have it in their hands, what a fantastic situation to be in. They've earned the right to play these games and if they look around the dressing room they'll see the big characters and the experience...Hendo, EEL, Tobi, Gilmour, East, Rodney, Gordon, Petit, Francis, Mani. There's enough talent there to beat anybody in this league and i include York in that. I'm sick to death of listening to people suggesting that York are head and shoulders above everybody else, they've been chasing our tails all season and are still very fortunate to be in a position to win the league. We are the story this season, not York. We can win these last two games on passion and desire alone, they need to banish the fear of losing and just go for it. You can't put 100 points and failure in the same conversation so the manager and the players need to banish any nerves and get out there and start playing their football again. A tentative approach to games breeds nerves, let's play on the front foot and pepper our opponents goal.

Look at last Saturday - for whatever reason, nerves, fatigue we didn't 'pepper our opponents goal' - we don't work opposition keepers enough, I think Hendo's goal was the first attempt in the 2nd half for us in the 77th minute! The whole shape of the team is wrong at the minute with Smith not being able to play the 10 role anywhere near good enough and Moss on the left giving us nothing but a bit of aerial strength on that side. I really hope Pritchard is close to any sort of fitness (I think Beckwith looks like he's not this season). Is Hannant on the leftside a better option? Certainly Rodney however up and down he's been is a better option than Smith. Or do we go with the same and then we have better options off the bench? Then there is Hendo - he's a massive threat off the bench when we need him to win a game. Who'd be a manager eh?

Agree with your observations on Moss and Smith. I rate Moss but the team can only attack down one side of the pitch when he's playing which makes us very predictable and easy to defend against. Smith is a impact sub, he doesn't appear to have the energy levels to start games. It looks like Gilmour and Tobi have been rushed back also.
When the dust has settled on the season i think key injuries over the last few months have really impacted us and shouldn't be underestimated. When you're missing players like Tobi, Gilmour, Beckwith, Pritchard, Rodney, Mani for extended periods of time then results are bound to suffer a bit. All compounded by playing fixture catch up following the implosion of the pitch. A lot of those were high pressure games in a short period of time. If we do pull up short this season i think the problem with the pitch will be the biggest reason and we're probably still suffering with injuries and fatigue as a result of it now, both directly and indirectly.
The mental effect on the players also needs to be recognised...training all week, getting yourself mentally prepared for games, will the game be on or off? The mindset of playing a home game at Accrington. Not playing a home game for weeks and weeks. If you put all of that together it's a fantastic effort by the players , manager and coaches. That's why they owe it to themselves to go out over these remaining games and play without fear, they deserve to win this league.

Gilmour and Tobi had minutes on Saturday and will do the same next week and should be fairly match fit for York. They both, unsuprisinglty looked a bit rusty. There should be no execuse for fatigue these last two games as there has been a week inbetween. The prize of winning these two games will be no more games and an earlier holiday!
I would be looking to start with Rodney and Barlow in the number 10 roles and Hannant or JK Gordon at left wing back, especially next week.

If the players don't believe in themselves now, they never will
Whatever the coaching team have to do to change the mindset once the players are on the pitch, something has to be done. We saw Hannant take a punt that keeps the season alive. Is there any reason the starting XI can't be doing that from the first minute? Set the players free to shoot first and ask questions later. If they come up short in doing so, so be it

We should assume nothing about Braintrees approach to the game.
If we are at anything less than our best from the start then expect our final game to be a dead rubber.
I’d start with the 11 that finished the game against Wealdstone..poss only get 45 mins from Hendo but the qualities he brings will enable us to take control from the start.

I know Jim wasn't happy with the fans on Saturday but from our point of view we are seeing a team who were on 99 points going for a title not having a proper attempt at goal for 77 mins. That can't be right - the whole structure of the team wasn't right on Saturday. The introduction of Rodney, Henderson, Hannant, JK Gordon and Francis saw us score 3 chances (1 harshly chalked off). 3 very decent balls into the box caused problems for Wealdstone.
