| Taking the knee on 21:37 - Dec 5 by Dr_Parnassus | It’s the same every election year unfortunately mate. Come December/New Year it goes away again. It’s a shame a lot of their funding goes towards Democratic candidate campaigns instead of investing into improving actual race based issues that could do with attention. |
It makes you wonder, why don't more black people question why BLM comes out to play during the election period but then disappears quite quickly when it's over? That's assuming you are right because I don't pay that much attention to USA politics besides who won. It'd be sad state of affairs if the BLM movement was taking black people for mugs! I wonder how the black community would feel if healines across the world were screaming "BLM funded by rich, white, old people" like Joe Biden. The way the world is it seems that the impossible is actually a lot more possible than I thought so who knows.

I think the scum Millwall fans should be vilified and made to play behind closed doors again until they learn some much needed respect. But if the authorities can't get a grip on that then I'd rather not witness booing going around the world on Sat afternoons. Every Nazi w@nker under the sun would hold a beacon to them.

| Taking the knee on 21:32 - Dec 5 by Dr_Parnassus | The movement was started by Patrisse Cullors, she has been pretty open about the organisation and their aims. People tend to ignore them though. “The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers,” she said, referring to BLM co-founder Alicia Garza. “We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk,” |
That's completely irrelevant and a nonsense sidetrack. That isn't what it's about for me, for example, I'd never heard of Pat-facking-rice. Respect

They do, but they are ignored. There are loads of wonderful and prominent black thinkers and political figures stating how bad the organisation is to them. Take the defund the police movement for example, 81% of black people disagreed with it. Yet the movement to do so was done despite that. It’s a political movement not a race based movement, many will disagree I’m sure but I’m pretty steadfast in that view. I just did a Google term search on “black lives matter”, look at the two spikes. It’s no coincidence.

And that’s where the issue comes into it, it means different things to different people. You see it as an anti racist movement, I see it as a divisive political one. Yet when it comes to the subject of race I would imagine we both largely agree. This is why the subject needs focus and not the gestures, one is where we can all come together, the other will (and does) cause division.

If you don't remember a black respect movement in the last US election and the one before that and so on, it's because it's just a load of guff designed to take your eye off the ball here. Has this time had an impact on you? Are you more aware of it now? Is the world? Are we ready to do something about it? That's all this is about. That and overthrowing an absolute despot in the White House. Hopefully the world is about to get a lot more kinder to one and all.

A much larger spike this time though, probably a Trump thing! There again you don't think Trump is divisive but he certainly got a lot of BLMsters out to play.

Which suggests the motivation is political. Lowest black unemployment in history and highest black median family income in history under Trump. But people don’t care about that.

Ah, now we agree that Trump needs to go but I don't see the world as becoming a kinder place. It's has been kinder during the pandemic but the signs are already there of a full return to all the (removed) behaviour we saw before it. People not giving a monkeys about others and spreading the virus for example. people spreading lies about the vaccine. I'm glad I live in a quiet corner with nice neighbours and a big green area close by. peace and quiet is under rated!

No, a giant lid will be placed on the rising racist movement the moment Trump is out, or better still, slammed on the shovel.

Middlesbrough, problems everywhere. Use of certain words are pointless mind, it just gets the post deleted.

I’ll say this mate, when there’s 15,000 there’s a small minority, but today the majority seemed to win when they had 2,000. Were these all season ticket holders, or did they win a prize at the local ?

Unfortunately there are still a lot of racist in football. You just got to read some of the comments to realize that.
| Taking the knee on 22:51 - Dec 5 with 1073 views | Jack123 | Taking the knee has no place in football, or anywhere.. I can't wait to booo if they carry on with this krap, once full allocation has been given, and I bet there will be many more patriots willing to join in. [Post edited 5 Dec 2020 22:57]

| Taking the knee on 23:06 - Dec 5 with 1043 views | Dr_Parnassus | The booing is wrong. I don’t condone it, because some people will be doing it (the knee) blissfully unaware of what it represents and those people will be doing it for other reasons, which shouldn’t be booed. But this will happen all over the country sooner or later, so people will either have to pretend everyone is a racist or wake up to what’s going on around them and realise people do not like politics in football and are realising more and more that this is a political thing rather than a race thing. The FA should be doing everything it can to distance itself from BLM while ramping up the Kick it Out message. Then we leave the politics out of it and the issue that should be what people are talking about gets addressed. [Post edited 6 Dec 2020 1:26]

| Taking the knee on 19:11 - Dec 5 by Neath_Jack | Same sort of sweeping statements as "If you support taking the knee, you support BLM". With the nod towards the black extreme version of it all. Don't forget to mention the right wing football "lads" who were hell bent on smashing up London and anything in their way as well. All in the name of defending statues that were boarded up. Just for fairness like. |
I don't know where you get your news from mate, but that last paragraph is total bolox.

| Taking the knee on 17:46 - Dec 5 by Jack_Kass | Cheesed off with what? A 3 second demonstration that they had to watch on the TV? |
I would say cheesed off with well-invested football millionaires embracing a political movement (BLM) that seeks to end capitalism, defund the police and question our cultural preference for the nuclear family. In my case also cheesed off with seeing FIFA Rule 4 on political symbols on kit ignored every week. BLM did not deny its political motivation, and on its website openly stated that it would not seek to register as a charity because that would restrict its political activities. Football had "Kick it Out" already and did not need the virtue-signalling performances of taking the knee and Black power salutes. I won't be booing, but neither will I be attending games while this continues. I don't think the problems will be confined to Millwall and prefer not to get involved. [Post edited 6 Dec 2020 4:32]
