Don’t be silly, the MLS is a hot bed of managerial and playing talent that we were on the verge of tapping into.... Ahem.

So to be clear, the only articles that can be believed are the ones that push what you are saying? For someone who asks to see sources/facts on what people are basing arguments on, you don't half like to pick and choose which ones are accurate and which ones are not...

He prints what the club tells him to print. £2.1m paid to agents in the last year. Wonder how much of that went stateside on Morris and Arriola. Norwich and Bournemouth keeping a lot of managers' sons in champagne and caviar by the looks. https://www.thefa.com/-/media/

Yes, he’s a reporter. That’s what they do, report what they have been told. Do you reckon when he asked “why Bob Bradley then?”... they were going to tell him that he is a high profile American manager which may curry favour for sponsorship and exposure in the home land where they may be able to attract further investors? They obviously told the likes of Wathan that he’s a wonderful manager, fantastic tactically and was the best man for the job. Wathan then writes that and it appeases fans that have lost access to their common sense reserves. That’s the relationship between football club, reporter and fan. It helps if you just use your common sense instead of relying of the likes of Ian Mitchelmore and Wathan to provide you with accurate scenarios.

I love a fact me, yes. But you haven’t provided any in this scenario, you have provided a version of events that has been told by a journalist at a time where the club were desperately trying to calm the anger being displayed behind such an appointment. Hardly a fact is it. You believe that version as much as I do.

You say eminently unsuitable and after watching his first two or three games I came to that conclusion. But, ahead of his appointment his record of taking teams forward was very good, did well in the US league. Did well with team USA, resurrected the Egyptian national side during a period of post war reconstruction, took Stabæk to Europe and narrowly missed promotion of Le Harve on goal difference. While Jenkins may have been trying to suck up, Chris Pearlman maintained the US consortium had no say in his appointment.

I love the fact people think a chairman and 5% stakeholder has the power to appoint managers. Sadly, I don’t think anyone actually thinks that, do they. Kaplan and Levien have clearly said they appointed him and they interviewed him, have taken responsibility for his appointment and Bradley himself said he was hired by them. I’m sure Huw had some sort of part to play signing off on that decision, but his decision it most certainly was not. One of the most pointless topics of discussion on this forum in recent years, and there have been many. While some may like to think the signings of Morris, Arriola and Bradley were the results of scouting, due diligence and carefully constructed thought processes... reality suggests otherwise. The owners facilitated bringing them all in, clearly. Rocket science it ain’t. However sometimes reality isn’t what people want. [Post edited 1 Apr 2021 15:52]

| Ariolla Leaves on 15:45 - Apr 1 with 709 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Bradley was clearly a US/ Donovan recommendation and the club's ex chairman went along wth it out of necessity and to use the Consultant paid for by the club at that time. Donovan/ had vast experience in Germany and USA. This one was put down to a learning experience. No one gets everything right. Swansea city s a consensual team effort and a tight ship. Squealing from managers will not be tolerated. Its reasonable to think Guidolin would have led Swansea into safe waters with his prefered signing Lloriente to the fore. Llorente only have one or two games before Guidolin got the bullet. Clements signing of Sanches was one bad signing too far. | |

Sorry mate, I normally agree with most of what you say, but you’re miles off here. Bradley had been a manager for 30 years and hadn’t achieved anything significant at club level. Norwegian leagues and French second division. We let him loose in the Premier League. That would not have happened without American owners, it’s mental that it did with them. They even admitted he was their mistake https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s

interesting article Bradley says "The 59-year-old had spells in charge of the United States, Egypt and Stabaek in Norway before leaving French second division club Le Havre to succeed Francesco Guidolin at Swansea. Yet despite his managerial experience, Bradley felt he was unfairly criticised because of his nationality. "I know that the work every day was good. It's impossible for players there after the fact to come out and speak about the work we did when I was there," he added. "They have to concentrate on what's going on at the moment, so what it means is it's easy for there to be things written and said which are not fair and accurate. "And yes, some of that is because I'm American, and some of that is because I was hired by American owners - that was part of the situation." No mention of Huw Jenkins being the person hiring...would have helped his "defence" more But I guess its Coopers fault really

SO when is this going to happen? Before the end of the season? Great timing with 9 games to go and stil in the mix for automatic promotion I could see it happening if we fail to go up....but if we do you really think they will sack him then? That really will encouorage any succesor unless of course it happens to be Landon Donavon ....or has Julian already lined up Mr Wagner?

Who knows. A full on experienced operator would do what new managers often do and that is drive teams forward. Steve drives us backwards .literally. It s why we defend a 1-0 lead after 3 minutes . I d have Richard Wagner lets alone Dave

There was little in his CV to suggest he'd be suited to the job. And so it proved. I give the Americans credit for swiftly sacking him.

Really? Watch the Coventry highlights despite us being 1-0 up there were several occasions we chose to attack one attack began from our penalty area...but hey ho those occasions and there are others in other games dont fit the agenda.. Yes Cooper looks for us not to lose but he has not as is suggested on here stifled the players natural instincts to attack when there opportunity is provided. But I know I m just a happy clapper and quoting isolated incidents to suit my agenda...dont know why I bother really

| Ariolla Leaves on 11:01 - Apr 1 by Chief | What sort of Bristol City team we played isn't relevant. The first half performance on that day against those 11 players wouldn't have been improved by playing Arriola instead of someone (don't know who you'd have dropped for him). The second half as i say he came off the bench and missed a sitter at 1-2. So with all that mind that you mention (which i don't neccessarily agree with) would starting Arriola really have changed anything? All indications suggest no, absolutely not. 'awfully managed' - how are still 3rd in the league then? Surely awful management would have much lower down the division. Fully fit raring to go squads lose games too. Come on now i know people don't like to concede things and be humble these days but there's no need to double down to the point over compensating to the point of gross overreaction. Why do you say that we've had it if we have one or two injuries? I thought we had no cause to moan about the quality in the squad to replace the injured players? |
It is relevant Chief. The very same Bristol team we played had just smashed Warnock's Boro 3-1 away and the clever, intelligent pundits were hoping we could hopefully snatch a draw at the outset (not "offset"). The exact same team and formation, with the added fillip of Pearson in the dug out. We were up against it (from the "offset") and yet came out of the blocks and totally flummoxed some of our most ardent critics (" We were excellent") from the "offset". We played some of our best football a la Martinez against a resurgent Bristol, pumped up under Pearson. You, Vetch and a couple of notable others are head n shoulders above some of the unintelligible unintelligent twps that continue to spew their bile. Fair play.
