You Unionist lot are hilarious, not once have i said that the Senedd is perfect, or even good.
I will criticise them where i think they deserve it. The M4 relief road was always going to be a non starter and was a pointless initiative.
Maybe i am a fool, who knows, but wanting your own country to control its own affairs is not a radical idea.
Independent countries working together.

Well it just goes to further prove the imcompetance of the people down Cardiff Bay then what with £114 million spent to decide not to have it.

Never said nor intimated I was a Unionist , I'm just not blinkered unlike so many such as yourself , you pay lip service to the faults of our lot but full on when it comes to central government , would that be because of its location ?.
Interesting point you made about the M4 , just why would it be be a "non starter and pointless initiative" ? without it the nations growth has and will continue to stagnate and you're happy with that ? and if was as pointless as you believe why then did the Senedd waste all that money on its feasibility study , I can't see you complaining about that obscene waste of tax payers money .

Of course i am blinkered because i criticise both Uk and the Senedd, makes sense that one.
If the UK government worked and was good for Wales i would not have an issue with it, the problem is that i dont think it is beneficial veing part of it.
There was always going to be backlash against the road, wildlife concerns etc and whether the cost of it would justify it being build. (It wouldve effectively been a commuter road for those living in Newport etc to travel ro work in Bristol, not exactly great for the Welsh economy.
I think it was a massive waste of money, you just keep trying to insinuate what i have thought or said and almost none of it is true.
The money spent on that pales in comparison to what we are paying for a Birmingham to London railway. But that wouldn't fit the Senedd bad narrative would it.

The future nightmare predicament for Wales is the serious concern that (a critical thinking and common sense profession) engineering firm boss questioned of what will happen when that section is shut down for major repairs? He never got an answer!

After all, stagnation passes with each and every passing year bringing that inevitability closer especially when you consider that it was THIRTY ONE YEARS AGO in 1991 that the idea of building a relief-road was proposed by The Welsh Office.

And I guess if an alternative is ever seriously proposed again (3 years since the idea was scrapped!) that section of road (*cough, cough, cough*) will indeed be closed for major repairs!

Very good points regarding the major roadworks which obviously is at the head of the next transport meeting agenda ( i don't think so) .
If you think that 31 years is a long time then consider this , from conception to final completion it took over 70 years for the Newtown by pass to open . All Westminster's fault obviously as no one thought of asking the Welsh Office, the assembly now the Sennedd the cause of the delay

70 years? Staggering!

It's crazy to think that if a relief road alternative is ever proposed and finished it'll probably be at the very least 30+ years since Welsh devolution started.

I guess it'll take vastly more than 30+ years, probably at least 40+ because it'll take years and a transport system shut-down/catastrophe to bring politicians to their senses, then take years to discuss it, take years to have pathfinder feasibly and planning consultation and take years to actually build it.

Absolutely surreal!

A couple of points , there were no such concerns when the mud flats of Cardiff were flooded even when environmentalists vehemently opposed the scheme . ( by the way we the Welsh tax payer continue to pay for its upkeep , not sure what benefit that brings to the rest of Wales , do you?)
I like to think you're joking when you say that it would only have been a commuter road for Newport , it would have relived the ever increasing pressure placed upon the area around the Brynglas tunnels taking local traffic away and it wouldn't only take traffic out but back into Wales, something you seemed to think doesn't presently happen . The reason why people commute to Bristol & beyond is because of the lack of investment in s Wales and part of that problem is the antiquated road system .

Personally i wouldn't want one next year, I think the smart play would be to wait for Scotland to have theirs, view what happens after and then try for one.

Just ask yourself one question, has anything in Wales improved since devolution? Answer it honestly and post the reply.

The M4 relief would have enabled business traffic to get into West Wales more quickly and efficiently; the current situation is causing stagnation West of Cardiff.

Another question, why has the Senedd not yet put it's annula accounts out, they are very late and it's a legal requirement. What are they hiding, again?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Honestly i don't think very much has, but that is the same for vast swathes of the UK, excluding the south east.

Better public transport and getting the lorries off the road during peak hours are better policies in my opinion. We are meant to be moving away from cars, no point building a massive relief road.

And I'd imagine they will be released shortly. There isn't always an ulterior motive.

Nonsense. I spend a lot of time in the West Country, Somerset etc and that whole area is absolutely booming.

We are not moving away from cars though, we are going electric. We won't get lorries off the road at any time unless the railways improve dramatically and that's not happening either. In fact there will be more lorries on the road in the future, with a growing UK population there will the need for more food deliveries never mind other "stuff"

The Senedd are slowly throttling the life out of anything West and North of Cardiff.

The accounts should have been released in November, that's 7 months late, they could be a year behind and the news story said something about a Senedd payment issue so there's a reason behind it, a motive if you will. They are hiding something.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

You don't want the hassle? Not even if it improved the economy, created jobs and brought greater prosperity to a large chunk of Wales?

Seems a bit selfish to me. I thought Welsh Labour cared about all of us not just a small corner of Wales...actually I didn't think that but that's what we are told by the First Minister and hs cohorts.
