WBA v Swansea City 21/22 Matchday Thread AFTERMATH 14:07 - Feb 21 with 18981 viewsNotLoyal

Dean Whitestone will be the man in the middle when Swansea City visit West Brom at The Hawthorns tonight (8pm). The Northamptonshire official will be taking charge of the Swans for the first time this season, having been at the helm for the home win over Blackburn last term, as well as victories over Preston and Middlesbrough in the campaign before that. Whitestone has no shortage of experience, and has been refereeing for long enough to have had the whistle for a Swansea game during the club’s previous stint in the Championship. He will be assisted by Steven Meredith and Shaun Hudson, while Matthew Donohue will be the fourth official.

You can watch tonight’s game on Sky Sports or for those who love an evening by the wireless Talk Sport 2.

We will of course have this match day thread running throughout the day and this evening.

Saturday morning Championship review : Latest Team News WBA v Swansea City 26th Feb 2022 08:43
It isn’t time to start making predictions in the Championship just yet but this weekends games, if we include Swansea City as well are definitely going to split the middle of this league. February and March are defining months in the Championship mid table battle which decides who is heading towards the top six and who is basically hanging around mid table until the end of the season. 0

Russell Martin remains unmoved and resilient ‘ No compromise’ 26th Feb 2022 13:29
Swansea City head to the Hawthorns for the main SKY TV Championship game on Monday. With limited resources at his disposal swans boss Russell Martin is more than happy to welcome back two key figures to his match day selections. Kyle Naughton and Hannes Wolf are back, and Martin issues his unconditional philosophy once again. 0

WBA v Swansea City : Two managers with the same desperate goal 28th Feb 2022 05:23
Tonight’s game at the Hawthorns between two teams on a difficult run of results could prove pivotal for the remainder of the season. Russell Martin leads Swansea City in to the game, the swans last win on the road was away at Barnsley in November. Steve Bruce on the other hand is in charge of the baggies who have won only twice in their last twelve league games. 0

The WBA curse and there’s more than one to counter 28th Feb 2022 11:34
Swansea City travel to the Hawthorns this evening with numerous hurdles to overcome. As we reported this morning not winning at West Brom for nine years is one issue, the other is trying to manage Andy Carroll who just loves to play against Swansea City. But that’s not all. 0

West Bromwich Albion: Sam Johnstone, Conor Townsend, Dara O'Shea, Kyle Bartley (captain), Semi Ajayi, Callum Robinson, Grady Diangana, Jayson Molumby, Andy Carroll, Adam Reach, Alex Mowatt.

Substitutes: Darnell Furlong, Matt Clarke, Karlan Grant, Cedric Kipre, David Button, Taylor Gardner-Hickman, Quevin Castro.

Swansea City: Andy Fisher; Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning; Hannes Wolf, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (captain), Cyrus Christie; Joel Piroe, Jamie Paterson; Michael Obafemi.

Substitutes: Ben Hamer, Jay Fulton, Korey Smith, Olivier Ntcham, Kyle Joseph, Joel Latibeaudiere, Finley Burns.

Wham Bam Cheers Ntcham : Swans defeat the Baggies 2-0 28th Feb 2022 22:43
A stylish last twenty minutes from Swansea City ensured three points and a huge sigh of relief for boss Russell Martin. Strikes from Joel Piroe and Cyrus Christie from well supplied crosses in the last quarter brought a huge smile to the big away swans support. It was a cold and damp night, a slick pitch underneath the lights and a first win in nine years at the Hawthorns for Swansea City. 0

Very much so.

A heavy defeat, or even a marginal defeat but littered with errors, will see him slaughtered at the next home game. There’s only so much of this fans will take and his recent display of stubbornness won’t help.

Need a performance tonight as much as a win.

I would take a scrappy 0-0, but think we could well win this, its a bigger game for WBA.

I would take a draw.

But this is not a good WBA side and they are in horrendous form, so another heavy defeat would not be acceptable in my view and serious questions would need to be asked if that were the case.

They have won 1 of their last 12 games, that's worse than us.

WBA in horrendous form, worse than us.

I’ll watch the Boro game with interest later. Seems a good a time as any to play them.

No wins in their last 5, including 4 defeats.

We all know that means their upcoming unbeaten run starts tonight😯

I like your optimism, but, unless we change our current tactics, I see nothing other than another mauling.

Our game plan must be a permanent fixture on every championship teams blackboard, as we never change it, other than the odd forced change due to a player being injured.

4 -1 to WBA.

Reaches for tin hat.

Carroll.
Ok I’m obsessed with him.

At West Ham ,he was lethal against us when we played .

He was over the hill for Reading but still left our defenders for dead

Fisher at corners with him standing on his toes

At least Corrie on for an hour tonight

The u23s game with Ipswich has been normal service. Goals conceded playing around at the back. Heavy 4-1 defeat.

Just 3 wins in 18 games this season. Sitting 7th out of 9 teams, and both teams below us have games in hand.

I think there is no need for the tin hat.

Andy Carroll, a team on a poor run & an ex player in Bartley, recipe for disaster.

I'm not sure how much blame can be put at O'Leary's door, he's coaching Martin's system rather than something he'd know well.
