WBA v Swansea City 21/22 Matchday Thread AFTERMATH 14:07 - Feb 21 with 20701 viewsNotLoyal

Dean Whitestone will be the man in the middle when Swansea City visit West Brom at The Hawthorns tonight (8pm). The Northamptonshire official will be taking charge of the Swans for the first time this season, having been at the helm for the home win over Blackburn last term, as well as victories over Preston and Middlesbrough in the campaign before that. Whitestone has no shortage of experience, and has been refereeing for long enough to have had the whistle for a Swansea game during the club’s previous stint in the Championship. He will be assisted by Steven Meredith and Shaun Hudson, while Matthew Donohue will be the fourth official.

You can watch tonight’s game on Sky Sports or for those who love an evening by the wireless Talk Sport 2.

We will of course have this match day thread running throughout the day and this evening.

Saturday morning Championship review : Latest Team News WBA v Swansea City 26th Feb 2022 08:43
It isn’t time to start making predictions in the Championship just yet but this weekends games, if we include Swansea City as well are definitely going to split the middle of this league. February and March are defining months in the Championship mid table battle which decides who is heading towards the top six and who is basically hanging around mid table until the end of the season. 0

Russell Martin remains unmoved and resilient ‘ No compromise’ 26th Feb 2022 13:29
Swansea City head to the Hawthorns for the main SKY TV Championship game on Monday. With limited resources at his disposal swans boss Russell Martin is more than happy to welcome back two key figures to his match day selections. Kyle Naughton and Hannes Wolf are back, and Martin issues his unconditional philosophy once again. 0

WBA v Swansea City : Two managers with the same desperate goal 28th Feb 2022 05:23
Tonight’s game at the Hawthorns between two teams on a difficult run of results could prove pivotal for the remainder of the season. Russell Martin leads Swansea City in to the game, the swans last win on the road was away at Barnsley in November. Steve Bruce on the other hand is in charge of the baggies who have won only twice in their last twelve league games. 0

The WBA curse and there’s more than one to counter 28th Feb 2022 11:34
Swansea City travel to the Hawthorns this evening with numerous hurdles to overcome. As we reported this morning not winning at West Brom for nine years is one issue, the other is trying to manage Andy Carroll who just loves to play against Swansea City. But that’s not all. 0

West Bromwich Albion: Sam Johnstone, Conor Townsend, Dara O'Shea, Kyle Bartley (captain), Semi Ajayi, Callum Robinson, Grady Diangana, Jayson Molumby, Andy Carroll, Adam Reach, Alex Mowatt.

Substitutes: Darnell Furlong, Matt Clarke, Karlan Grant, Cedric Kipre, David Button, Taylor Gardner-Hickman, Quevin Castro.

Swansea City: Andy Fisher; Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning; Hannes Wolf, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (captain), Cyrus Christie; Joel Piroe, Jamie Paterson; Michael Obafemi.

Substitutes: Ben Hamer, Jay Fulton, Korey Smith, Olivier Ntcham, Kyle Joseph, Joel Latibeaudiere, Finley Burns.

Wham Bam Cheers Ntcham : Swans defeat the Baggies 2-0 28th Feb 2022 22:43
A stylish last twenty minutes from Swansea City ensured three points and a huge sigh of relief for boss Russell Martin. Strikes from Joel Piroe and Cyrus Christie from well supplied crosses in the last quarter brought a huge smile to the big away swans support. It was a cold and damp night, a slick pitch underneath the lights and a first win in nine years at the Hawthorns for Swansea City. 0

He's not a wingback as is piroe not z number 10 asks christie not a left wing back as is Martin not a manager

Why is Christie now a left midfielder.
Im struggling here
Playing players out of position seems to be Russy's plan to progress.

That's because we're far to happy with passing the ball forward and back time and time again in our own half, we doing ok though, WBA look ordinary, so more from them when they played down here earlier in the season, something in this for us.

Yes we are so much better when go direct.

Why is that ironic?

Just Ironic given all that has been said in the last week about Laudrup that our last win there was under him

Chill mun
I do agree WBA are poor and we have a good chance of changing that statistic tonight

They're awful, but I'd take a draw now if you offered it to me. No guarantees we'll score and it only takes a Kamikaze brain fart for us to concede.

Was the last time we beat Liverpool under Carvalhal or Clement?

Either way, nothing ironic about it. Average managers can win games too.

At times we're not even "playing out", players are just passing it to the nearest teammate they see as if they're afraid to be the one who loses it.

Having Grimes referred to as our midfield engine has really annoyed me, he’s done nothing all game

What makes you think I’m arguing?

Not every question or fact has to be interpreted as an argument.

That is the exact summary for me.

Two players 3 yards away from each other, essentially in the same spot and one will give it to the other.

All it does is slow us down.

Wolf reminds me of Dan James. He wants to run at players but doesn't have a single trick in his locker so ends up just bumping into people and hoping for the best.

If only he had DJ's pace. This has been his second best game for us, after Luton.
