WBA v Swansea City 21/22 Matchday Thread AFTERMATH 14:07 - Feb 21 with 20681 viewsNotLoyal

Dean Whitestone will be the man in the middle when Swansea City visit West Brom at The Hawthorns tonight (8pm). The Northamptonshire official will be taking charge of the Swans for the first time this season, having been at the helm for the home win over Blackburn last term, as well as victories over Preston and Middlesbrough in the campaign before that. Whitestone has no shortage of experience, and has been refereeing for long enough to have had the whistle for a Swansea game during the club’s previous stint in the Championship. He will be assisted by Steven Meredith and Shaun Hudson, while Matthew Donohue will be the fourth official.

You can watch tonight’s game on Sky Sports or for those who love an evening by the wireless Talk Sport 2.

We will of course have this match day thread running throughout the day and this evening.

Saturday morning Championship review : Latest Team News WBA v Swansea City 26th Feb 2022 08:43
It isn’t time to start making predictions in the Championship just yet but this weekends games, if we include Swansea City as well are definitely going to split the middle of this league. February and March are defining months in the Championship mid table battle which decides who is heading towards the top six and who is basically hanging around mid table until the end of the season. 0

Russell Martin remains unmoved and resilient ‘ No compromise’ 26th Feb 2022 13:29
Swansea City head to the Hawthorns for the main SKY TV Championship game on Monday. With limited resources at his disposal swans boss Russell Martin is more than happy to welcome back two key figures to his match day selections. Kyle Naughton and Hannes Wolf are back, and Martin issues his unconditional philosophy once again. 0

WBA v Swansea City : Two managers with the same desperate goal 28th Feb 2022 05:23
Tonight’s game at the Hawthorns between two teams on a difficult run of results could prove pivotal for the remainder of the season. Russell Martin leads Swansea City in to the game, the swans last win on the road was away at Barnsley in November. Steve Bruce on the other hand is in charge of the baggies who have won only twice in their last twelve league games. 0

The WBA curse and there’s more than one to counter 28th Feb 2022 11:34
Swansea City travel to the Hawthorns this evening with numerous hurdles to overcome. As we reported this morning not winning at West Brom for nine years is one issue, the other is trying to manage Andy Carroll who just loves to play against Swansea City. But that’s not all. 0

West Bromwich Albion: Sam Johnstone, Conor Townsend, Dara O'Shea, Kyle Bartley (captain), Semi Ajayi, Callum Robinson, Grady Diangana, Jayson Molumby, Andy Carroll, Adam Reach, Alex Mowatt.

Substitutes: Darnell Furlong, Matt Clarke, Karlan Grant, Cedric Kipre, David Button, Taylor Gardner-Hickman, Quevin Castro.

Swansea City: Andy Fisher; Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning; Hannes Wolf, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (captain), Cyrus Christie; Joel Piroe, Jamie Paterson; Michael Obafemi.

Substitutes: Ben Hamer, Jay Fulton, Korey Smith, Olivier Ntcham, Kyle Joseph, Joel Latibeaudiere, Finley Burns.

Wham Bam Cheers Ntcham : Swans defeat the Baggies 2-0 28th Feb 2022 22:43
A stylish last twenty minutes from Swansea City ensured three points and a huge sigh of relief for boss Russell Martin. Strikes from Joel Piroe and Cyrus Christie from well supplied crosses in the last quarter brought a huge smile to the big away swans support. It was a cold and damp night, a slick pitch underneath the lights and a first win in nine years at the Hawthorns for Swansea City. 0

Agree.
As I said above the only one moaning about that win is OHL as it goes against his "Martin Out" agenda

That’s why I created a thread giving my thoughts, I knew people would pretend that some fans were not happy. At least they can’t pretend it doesn’t exist if it’s a thread of its own.

They wouldn’t name anyone of course but they would attempt to be vague to label all those who correctly criticised us this season.

Same every time we don’t lose.

Guess always some aren't happy.
Nice to get a good away win ( bar a few scares ) after the last few away matches

We are in agreement, a rarity.

A much needed win. Not a bad performance overall. Encouraging that he went direct and corrected his team selection and tactics mid game.

All positives.

Korey Smith's "attempt" prior to the ball running through to Christie for his goal was comedy gold to be fair.

A first half fairly typical of the last few months. Slow, plodding, with a distinct lack of anything approaching flair. Second half we improved, although WBA were absolute dogsh*t.

The problems are still the problems and the need for huge improvement still remains. We look a much better side when we move the ball with pace and intent. The players are there to do it (minus one or two) so why don't we?

On the positive side, it was great to see Kyle Naughton back. We looked ten times more comfortable defensively with him there. Only people with less subject knowledge than an Amish electrician can now doubt that he is one of the most important players in the squad at the moment.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Overall a good solid performance.
Still lots to improve on, but after the last few away matches, great to get a win.
At times still too much passing back and sideways to and from Grimes, but at least we didn't look nervous last night.
Bring on Coventry !

Oops!!! I apologise missed that, i dont mind people ctiticisinng if its warranted but this campaign against certain players and our manager is completely unjustified. We are sitting mid table with a squad that is young and being changed to play the managers way. What i see is that when we get possesion and move it quickly we look very good, and there is our problem pace which i for one think RM deserves a crack next year.

Yep,Grimes the coward. A giuy who had a decent game last night but one is often goes missing when we need to dig in. Also ,a captain and player quite willing to snuggle up to Martin purely to keep him in his good books.

Lifelong didnt mean to insult Grimes .I DID so get it right .

The comparison with Downes to Grimes is stark.

Good job you are not the manager, you are utterly clueless.
