Swansea City v Wayne Rooney’s Derby County : Matchday Thread 21/22 21:18 - Apr 6 with 13531 viewsNotLoyal

It’s the Wayne Rooney thread with added thread and thread. The type of thread your old granny used to use to thread your socks.

The Ref !
Tim Robinson will be the referee when Swansea City host Derby County at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday (3pm). The West Sussex official will be taking charge of a Swans game for the second time this season — having overseen the home win over Blackburn in February - and just the fourth time in total. He previously had the whistle for the away win at Reading during the 2018-19 season, and the defeat at Fulham the following campaign. Robinson will be assisted by Andrew Fox and Nigel Lugg, while Sam Allison will be the fourth official. Robinson has taken charge of 30 games in all competitions this season, dishing out 132 yellow cards 🟨 and six reds 🟥 including the one issued to Ryan Manning in that meeting with Blackburn. 132 yellows in 30 games ! Look out !

Swansea City v Derby County ‘Last chance saloon for Rooney’ ? 7th Apr 2022 11:29
Swansea City may hold the better win rate statistic than Derby County over the history of this fixture generally down to a number of wins in the sixties, but recently the swans have struggled against the rams. 0

Wayne Rooney looks ahead to Swansea City v Derby County 8th Apr 2022 10:16
Derby boss Wayne Rooney really couldn’t have done anything more to get his side in to a position where they had half a chance of staying in the championship this season. The loss of twenty one points for administration issues and financial breaches have been the catalyst for what is fast looking like relegation. 0

Watch the game, Match Report, Stats, Swansea City v Derby County 10th Apr 2022 20:44
It was another win but it didn’t come easy after a very convincing start at the swansea.com stadium. The swans were on a high after a great week of putting plans from the training ground on to the pitch and very expertly as well. 0

Same as Russell then.

Opinion until he wins a European cup.

Until then it’s opinion vs opinion and who’s opinion is correct gets shown by what happens.

On this occasion, the way I suggested we should be playing very early on, appears to be correct. Doesn’t it.

Of course it’s opinion v opinion. And that is your opinion doesn’t count and RM does. Very simple really or do you think you have influence over the team ?

I accept he is currently employed as a football manager with little to no success as of yet.

I also accept that I am in a different but equally analytical profession within sport who is employed to make such observations into the weaknesses in certain teams and set ups.

I also accept that what I said he should change very early on - he has done so.

That is accurate right?

Football wise I would say we are still very much playing it about at the back, turning attack into defence and taking what some would deem unnecessary risks. This was demonstrated at Millwall and today and is still evidence of his desire to play possession based football.
The difference between the last two matches and previous ones where we have lost has been it has been successful.
So not sure, as one who has seen all our games this season, there has been a change in Martin's mindset.
Just that the players are getting better at executing his wishes.
I was led to understand that your professional knowledge lay in finance, not in sport. Is that not correct then ?
Or are you a financial analyst for bookmakers ?

Count in terms of what?

My opinion and Russell’s opinion gets proven by the same merits. If I give an opinion that shows itself to be correct, that doesn’t get nullified because I’m not a professional. If Russell gives an opinion that turns out incorrect, it doesn’t get nullified because he is a professional.

That’s the crux of it.

The system he brought has been thrown out and it’s been thrown out because it didn’t work. It didn’t work for the reasons many of us were saying from the start.

That’s right, isn’t it?

I barely miss a game.

But credibility isn’t what I seek, that proves itself with my views and their consistency in being shown to be accurate.

Put it this way, I’ve seen about 1000 more Swansea matches than our current manager has

Well I don’t, it was a tongue in cheek response to someone who thought I was encouraging the management team to read our views on here.

I made the point that if he had then he would have read the very changes he’s made now after week 3.

It wasn’t a request or a suggestion that he should. Unfortunately that was max misunderstanding a point I made regarding posters on here and the importance of honest critique.

I never misunderstood anything mate you have consistently said that Martin needs to listen or has/ hasn't listened to what we have said all along, about what the team needs to do to be more productive, like i said you twist everything to suit your argument, you are poison on of this site you always have been, that's why you've been banned as often as you have, even this morning you tried to police the forum when its no business of yours to do so, totally out of order.

Where have I said that?

Can you quote me saying Martin needs to listen to me, or has listened to me?

So I’m poison to this forum for giving my view which has proven to be accurate and you think I’m out of order because I asked someone to stop swearing at people? I’ll never stop that I’m afraid, people need to learn to discuss like adults.

Have a long hard think about what you just typed.

Prime case for you using the ignore function here as it’s clear when it comes to what I say you wind yourself up by changing it to whatever you find most unpalatable.

I've no need to reconsider my views, you couldn't wind a clock up up let alone a man of my stature, be assured of that at least, you're just an obnoxious individual who thinks he's knows it all and attempts to belittle those that appose you, its pathetic and laughable and no I'd never never ignore posters of comical value like yourself

I’m not trying to wind you up. What on earth do you think is an attempt to wind you up?

I simply stated that asking someone to stop swearing on the forum and giving a considered view is perfect behaviour where as you tried to make out it was not.

I’m not belittling anyone, you seem to be trying to though. I’ve been perfectly reasonable, ironically on the face of some quite obnoxious posts.

If you don’t wish to ignore my posts then that’s okay, least you could do is try and disprove it though… easier said than done eh?

Also have actually played football at any level ( amateur or otherwise) or is it all just theories based on your opinion of how the Swans should play the game ?

Playing it out from the back and playing it around the back would be the difference there.

We are not looking to have hundreds of passes in and around our own box anymore, we do in the right situations but it’s vastly reduced.

Hence we have gone from 750 passes to 550, the bulk of that extra 200 would be around our own box. It’s also why our possession has gone from 75% to 55%, it’s not a coincidence and a direct consequence of a more direct style which naturally sacrifices possession and pass count.

It’s a concerted change. If they were getting better at it we would still be seeing 750 passes and 75% possession, but with positive results. But that isn’t the case, is it?

In order to get those positive results we have had to change the style, a change to what we said we should be doing early on. I even gave a sensible range for each of these things, which we are now hitting bang in the middle of regularly. That wouldn’t be possible without a clear and evident change.

Nope my expertise is in sport and the analytics of those sports. There is a financial element to it, but the prime driver behind my profession is analysing upcoming matches, teams and players and then converting that into probability of certain outcomes based on those thoughts.

Accuracy of those thoughts are then determined by the profitability of those markets, of which mine are extremely accurate as shown by the long term data. So much so I’ve been asked to move to New York soon and improve the analytics behind American based sports.

No I’m not a financial analyst for a bookmaker, that’s why you shouldn’t listen to others with an axe to grind, whom contrary to what they think - don’t know the first thing about me.

I don’t think it’s very appropriate to be asking such personal questions however though, given that the information gathered is often tried to be used for sinister purposes as opposed to genuine curiosity. Do you? Do I ask you these questions or just respond to what you say?

If you agree with my views then feel free to say so, if not then show me why you disagree. It would make a far better debate than asking me about my football career, as that is designed to take the discussion off the topic at hand.

That’s all this should be about, have I given an accurate view all along or not? Personally I don’t see how anyone can make any sort of argument against what I’ve said.

But of course I expected a few to try whilst not knowing why they are disagreeing, sadly that also proved correct.

Yes I don’t blame you.

The sooner people leave this personal nonsense where it is and start discussing what is actually being typed the better.

Sadly that involves actually giving credit that some had called it right after all or putting a legible argument together against it. Both are understandably avoided like the plague.

Our style was unworkable, we have finally changed it and it’s paying dividends. Not sure what is so hard about recognising this… well I do, but it really shouldn’t be an issue.

Some of you guys really need to reply to the post not the poster.

This was a decent thread. Then the usual suspects arrive and you can spot the exact moment that things turn personal and snide. Constant goading.

Dr P then gets the blame. History repeating itself yet again. I would suggest putting him on ignore but no doubt that would spoil your fun.

You are spoiling it for those of us who want to read an exchange of opinions.

Absolutely laughable Max, there's a couple on here who actually think they have changed Martin's way of playing.

Who? Any examples Raynor?

Don’t think I’ve seen anyone suggest that. Are you mistaking people making a factual statement that Martin’s changes recently have been the exact obvious changes many have been banging on about since week 3?
