| Swansea City v Wayne Rooney’s Derby County : Matchday Thread 21/22 21:18 - Apr 6 with 14817 views | NotLoyal | It’s the Wayne Rooney thread with added thread and thread. The type of thread your old granny used to use to thread your socks. The Ref ! Tim Robinson will be the referee when Swansea City host Derby County at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday (3pm). The West Sussex official will be taking charge of a Swans game for the second time this season — having overseen the home win over Blackburn in February - and just the fourth time in total. He previously had the whistle for the away win at Reading during the 2018-19 season, and the defeat at Fulham the following campaign. Robinson will be assisted by Andrew Fox and Nigel Lugg, while Sam Allison will be the fourth official. Robinson has taken charge of 30 games in all competitions this season, dishing out 132 yellow cards 🟨 and six reds 🟥 including the one issued to Ryan Manning in that meeting with Blackburn. 132 yellows in 30 games ! Look out ! Wayne Rooney looks ahead to Swansea City v Derby County 8th Apr 2022 10:16Derby boss Wayne Rooney really couldn’t have done anything more to get his side in to a position where they had half a chance of staying in the championship this season. The loss of twenty one points for administration issues and financial breaches have been the catalyst for what is fast looking like relegation. 0 Job Done ðŸ‘

The big difference yesterday ( and Tuesday ) were three brilliant strikes from Piroe, who is a fantastic player and will go far in the game. Of course had the ref seen things differently we could have been talking about either a more comfortable victory or a victory for them through three penalties. Glad to say the best team won yesterday and on Tuesday Well done RM and the team |
I’ve asked you several times now. Did we not have 500 odd passes? Did we not have 55% possession? And did we not have double figures % long balls? The above posters all seem to see the obvious style change, you appear to be suggesting it’s only me that has made that obvious conclusion. Feel free to tell me how we are all wrong and these stats are all incorrect. I said I’m more than happy to listen. As of yet you haven’t tried.

He's pushing a lot higher when we enter the opposition half, and leaving the ball behind more often. Even made a few off the ball runs into the penalty yesterday. It's not something that's happening because the players are just getting better at Martin's Day One Master Plan (tm), it's a change the manager has made to our structure in possession.

Total difference from the match day thread. Issue is when a poster wants to make it all about them and how they are correct then it's taking the topic away from what the thread is about. Just take a look at the Millwall match day thread and yesterday's match day thread.....the issue is then as clear as day.

Noticed that yesterday, was not a tactic used against Cardiff or Millwall. Grimes was used more as a presser yesterday... Didn't seem to work for me.

It is ludicrous to keep insisting that stats tell you more than seeing a game. Had you seen the game as I have stated several times you would have seen that the style has not changed but the execution of that style has. Also the game could have changed had the ref made certain decisions. Your stats don't tell the whole picture. If professional coaches could rely on stats, why do they still bother watching opposition to analyse them ?

Then the usual suspects arrive and you can spot the exact moment that things turn personal and snide. Constant goading. Dr P then gets the blame. History repeating itself yet again. I would suggest putting him on ignore but no doubt that would spoil your fun. You are spoiling it for those of us who want to read an exchange of opinions. We won another game. Can we not enjoy that as supporters of the same club? |
Post of the day, from a poster recently rightly lauded by one the constant goaders (STID). The good news is that nowadays there is sufficient common sense, rational thinking and intelligence to counter the constant goaders who most often hunt in packs. The balance is getting better here, the team's balance is also getting better, the results are improving. Onwards and upwards - the pitch and on here.

Where have I said that? Again you are making it sound like I’ve been away for months, I’ve only been away for a week. The changes have been obvious to my eyes backed by the stats. You seem to be ignoring those stating the exact same thing in this thread. If you believe we had more than 55% possession yesterday and had more passes than 500 odd then let me know. If you agree then just agree.

| Swansea City v Wayne Rooney’s Derby County : Matchday Thread 21/22 on 10:58 - Apr 10 by Dr_Parnassus | Of course he’s changed. We have gone from high 70% possession, 800 passes and single digit long balls to a more direct approach with less focus on possession and pass numbers and more on actually trying to directly break the lines. Whether you like it or not, there has been a very clear change in these numbers. To pretend it’s the same style when it’s quite clearly different suggests that you may not want to see it as opposed to talking realistically. I’ve laid the figures bare. These aren’t guesses. The poster above who watched the games has also confirmed it. Feel free to tell us that we didn’t have 55% possession, 500 odd passes and double figures long balls. I’m open to listening if you are disputing these changes in data. [Post edited 10 Apr 2022 11:00]

One important point to mention from yesterday's game which totally affected the data and stats was that Derby were themselves playing some kind of possession football. I think we should look at the availability of their keeper at the end of the season as he seemed to be more assured under pressure than Fisher. The fact that they were playing that game would obviously see the possession statistics even out and therefore not so much of a change of style from Swansea though it is great that the outball has changed.

Same against Cardiff 50’s possession 500’s passes, double figures long. Cardiff do anything but keep possession. Even Birmingham we had less than 500 passes and in the 60s possession. These stats against these teams would be through the roof prior to the change. No doubt about it, whether a team was playing possession football too or not. Boro play a possession game for example, but earlier on in the season we still nearly touched 70%. That’s because our style almost ensured that…. Obviously we lost and didn’t score.

No it is all about some posters not allowed to have an opinion that differs from yours and your mates. His presence only changes the OP because you and they continually attack every word he says, his background, his history, his analytical ability, his accuracy and his right to post at all. Like any other poster that disagrees with your Martinball lovefest and points out where and how it lacks and how it has changed.

Well of course your view is clouded as you are reading the same page as him and don't want to be proven wrong, it's natural. There is no one more than him that doesn't like a view or an opinion that goes against his one. I have had decent debates with posters who don't agree with what I think.... The issue is that they are not making it about them being right where as he needs to be right. One thing for sure, he has one issue that needs sorting, that issue is a massive one that needs addressing.

I would say more mistaken, you can label it what you wish in context but I am more of an open minded soul who will just class it as being mistaken. Such an example, it would be a mistake for me to ask my wife when I wake up to read out the stats of the Swansea game whilst lying in bed 🤦â€â™‚ï¸

Mistaken in what sense? You don’t think we had a drop in possession, a rise in long balls and a drop in pass number? Well it’s difficult to get any sort of football thought out of you let alone your wife, so you may be right there. Mine however is an expert

DrP has very little emotion and uses facts that when it comes down to it are difficult to dispute, most of us post emotionally and that's what 99% of supporters do. I rarely engage with him if I disagree because as annoying as it can be he's usually correct and can back it up. AC on the other hand is purely a wum.

It does seem with stability in the defence, the midfield can push forward more and put pressure on the opposition defence to counter that Derby did started playing long balls one of which lead to their penalty and some break aways that lead to bookings.

I think there's a strong possibility that they'll keep the bulk of the players they want to keep for next season, with a new owner onboard, if that happens they'll be to strong for most teams in League One, they got some good youngsters in their squad, Tom Lawrence as found himself again and has had a decent season as well, whether he'll stay though is up for debate.

Agreed on the defence, really happy that we have 3 coming towards the end of the season in place that can go into next season. Things are falling into shape nicely, looks like the exercise is coming to fruition. This summer is going to be interesting.

He's not as smooth over the ground as Downes and his passing and thinking not as quick, but worth a role in our side without a doubt. Wolf had a good game, a really good battle with their wide man, but was blowing at the end and I thought it would have been a good time to bring on Ogbeta for the last 15mins.

Thought the same in regards with Ogbeta, thought he should have been brought on for Pato instead of Ntcham, Wolf could have gone further forward with Ogbeta in at the left side. Fulton done well, would say he deserves a place in the squad ahead of Smith. Downes is a far better player going forward than Fulton but I think Fulton showed that he has a role as a squad player.

If we were still two nil up I would agreed to give youngsters a chance but we gave away that advantage. We are susceptible to pace, be it with balls over the top or break aways hopefully now the defence is a little more settled not so much.

Isn't that a quality we want in a manager? In the rush to dogpile forums enemies people don't half say some stupid things. Last night it was "tactics don't matter in football" when the biggest defence of our poor results this season had been the players were needing time to adapt to the massive change in tactics from last season. It's impossible to actually discuss football here sometimes when the personalities are more interested in winning their battles. |
