Coventry City v Swansea City 2022/23 : Matchday Thread 21:04 - Dec 12 with 18640 viewsNotLoyal

Swansea City go in search of their first win since beating Cardiff City (again)

The Referee for this game is Robert Jones from Liverpool, so the players had better calm down. Sorry but it’s the best we can do. Jones will be assisted by Ian Hussin and Natalie Aspinall, with Darren Bond the fourth Official for the game. Bond had lost his magical powers since he had his hair cut. Over the last 12 months Robert Jones has refereed 29 games, comprising 9 Championship games, 16 Premier League games, 1 Club Friendlies 1 game, 2 FA Cup games and 1 EFL Cup game. In addition he has been the Fourth Official 102 times. During this period he has issued 77 yellow cards at a rate of 2.66 per game and 2 red cards at a rate of 0.07 per game.

Joe Allen fit for Coventry but Obafemi continues to be a timely mystery 16th Dec 2022 14:30
Joe Allen is fit to face Coventry City tomorrow afternoon in the first Sky Bet Championship away game for the swans since drawing against Huddersfield Town five weeks ago. In that time two victories on a short tour of Scotland for the swans gave some hope before last weeks disappointing home loss to Norwich City. 0

Coventry City not wary of Swansea at any level 17th Dec 2022 08:00
You can understand why Mark Robins and his Coventry City side are in no way apprehensive about this afternoons game against Swansea City. The sky blues are on a run of decent form and the swans really do need a win by any means necessary to get their season back on track. 0

Jekyll & Hyde Swansea City but it’s still really not working … 18th Dec 2022 08:00
Yesterday afternoons game may well have been thrilling for the neutral, and let’s be honest over the ninety minutes of football a win for the swans wouldn’t have been a surprise. Unless of course you refer to the three blinding saves in the first half from Steven Benda, the poor selection choices at the start from Russell Martin or indeed the sleepiness we again witnessed at the turnaround which put the swans 2-0 down. 0

yet he is not learning. this so is 4th season o management..he is still making the same rookie mistakes.....
yet his fanboys are still defending him

He continues to make the same mistakes, he changed tactics and we won a few games, but you could tell he was desperate to return to Martinball, and the form has dropped off the cliff again. Possession for possessions sake.,slow ponderous build up, players terrified to take the initiative for fear of being dropped or publicly thrown under the bus.

the tactics that exposed Cabango and Wood throughout the first half without Benda we could have been 3 down at half time

Martins selection was flawed our good winning run earlier in the season had Cooper starting and it is no coincidence we looked better today and last Saturday when he was on the pitch

Martin is a fraud I've said it many times before and been called put for it on here...we rescued a draw from 3 nil down but we should never been in tha position....this man has no idea most of us supporters could pick a better starting line up and game plan tha thisso called professional....to be honest my thoughts at five past four were get out of my club get out of my club Russell Martin get out of my club and despite the result I still feel the same 7 games now without a win yet the last 20 mins shows what our players are capable off when selection and tactics are employed

Listened on Radio Wales and Nathan Blake made several comments about the starting back line, particularly of how the lack of intensity by 'full backs' and Wood was leaving Cabango overloaded and exposed. Even suggested the Wales CB would be furious. Then, how disinterested Poroe looked.
The friendlies in Scotland were wasted opportunities where it was the same old same old.
Would you give Martin an extension or money to spend?

It’s a shame you don’t understand what it’s like to run this show.
Seeing both sides of both sides it seems is a lacking commodity.

Keith thus post isn't about this forum.....I actually do appr6the effort etc you have to put in to keep it going...my posts are directed at individuals who continue to defend Martin despite the obvious indications of his level of.competence he continues to demonstrate he cannot select s best starting 11 and tactics

We are going nowhere with Martin Keith, he just hasn't got the nous for the job in hand. owners apparent "ambition" is to get back into the Premier League, not gonna happen with RM at the helm, if they give him 20 mill to spend, he'll buy a centre mid and play him left back and vice versa, just no sense in his methods or thinking.

He's got to go.

What does it say about a manager, when you go down 3 nil down???
Some seriously wrong team selection in the first place?
You haven’t done your due diligence on the opposition?
You are so pig headed, that you will not take advice from anyone?
So we’ve come back and drawn.
It’s not the way to run a Championship football team, if you have Premiership ambitions.
God help us if he blags a new contract.

Excellent comeback thanks to excellent substitutions by Martin.
However he needs to learn a lesson from today for us to build on this.

I agree but how many "lessons" does it take to stop making same mistakes , a season and a half on from his appointment and yet can you say we're a better team & himself a better manager now than then

Thing is he’s being applauded by some people for learning from his mistakes mid game and making the subs that earned the swans a point,

I appreciate that and the fact that his changes rescued us from a humiliating loss, ( my feelings ) and that should be recognised but on the flip side it should also be recognised by some that (as you said previously ) a good coach he maybe but a Manager ? the brickbats will continue as long as we see performances such as today's and many others . Everyone wants us to be successful and speaking for myself I long for the day when we finally have a settled side managed by a successful manager who's here for the long term and that we've not had that since Toshack

It's simple, if the owners are content with mid table stick with Russell, if they are more ambitious they need to gamble. There's still enough games for half decent manager to secure a play off spot easily with this squad if we also add a decent right back in January.

Even when you know, you never know?
