Midfield for Man Utd 23:27 - Oct 22 with 4848 viewsYossarian

As we’ve been pitiful in midfield, why not go with Dyer, Mesa, Ki and Clucas?
Keep the back 4 and Ayew and Tammy up front. Fede gets the armband.

I wouldn’t be starting Ayew or Tammy in that one. Not sure if Tammy picked up enough of a knock to keep him out, but both of them have been involved in every game and Ayew has started them all (I think). Rest them with Arsenal in mind.

I’d love to rest Olsson too, but I don’t see who would replace him. Rangel in for Naughton.

Bony would be a no brainer if fit, as would Mesa. Would make sense to give Dyer, Clucas and Ki some game time.

Great post. I still don't get why we got rid of Kingsley.

Yeah fair points but Bony isn’t fit (and hasn’t been for years) and that leaves McBurnie (who shouldn’t really be here if we’d been competent during the window. The point is the strikers cupboard is really bare. Losing Tammy or Ayew would be nothing short of catastrophic so on second thoughts perhaps McBurnie is the right call, and bring Fer in to play in the 10 role. We are in feckin shit street because of those greedy bar stewards.

Yes we've replaced one ginger sitting on the bench with another more expensive ginger to sit on the bench.

Nope me neither unless we were very certain another full back would sign, but then obviously didn't. A bit bizarre going into a season with Rangel as the only full back backup.

I reckon that midfield would get teared apart. I suspect we'll go back to a couple of disciplined lines of 4/5, and just try to keep them out and then nick something on the break.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Leon, Carroll, Fer and Ki feature in a narrow midfield, with Narsingh dropped and Ayew playing off Tammy but dropping deep when we don't have the ball. Leaving Tammy isolated. But who knows with PC. He may even revert to a back 5.

If it was a league game, quite possibly. I think he will use it as a chance to give a few players on the verge of the first team some game time.

Personally I’d give Tammy and Ayew a rest too.

Yeah, ignore me I was thinking of Arsenal not Man U. Agreed, we'll make changes but can't make that many as we don't have/or trust the depth. Last round we played a lot of the first team if I remember rightly.

It's a tough call. Does he play players like Ki and Dyer for 90, or rest them as they've shown more in their cameos than the 'first teamers'.

If Mess doesn't get a game in the next week he may as well go home.

I would go with

NORDFELLT

RANGEL-VDH-MAWSON-CLUCAS(I KNOW)

MESA-FULTON

DYER-KI-JAMES

MCBURNIE

That young lad Garrick along with Byers on the bench, both looked good for the U23s.

Why not hey, lets see what some can do. A loss tomorrow would not be the end of the world........bigger things to worry on.

Id give Sanches a chance at the No10 roll.

Of course you're right. He has the vision to unlock a defence. Trouble is will he get enough decent ball to do so?

Nordfelt

Rangel Mawson VDH Lewis

Mesa
Ki Sanches

James Routs
Mcburnie

James to be Rangels legs and have an old head behind him for advice
Routs because he will track back and help an inexperienced Lewis defensivly

Why would you not use the Rangel/Dyer combination that has been greater than the sum of it's parts over the years?

so you'd risk our only first first team striker rather than an u23 striker who has been banging the goals in for fun for 2 seasons

Funny, I was going to say exactly the same thing about Routledge.

How a professional footballer can't hit the target with a free shot from 15 yards to give us an invaluable point is beyond me. An absolute disgrace.

Dyer has to start tomorrow. He was one of the few bright spots in our performance on Saturday and he needs all the game time he can get. Astonishingly at this juncture, it appears that Nathan Dyer would improve our starting lineup. Difficult to tell how much of that is Dyer playing well vs how much is the rest of the team being turgid shite. It's all relative. He's like a new signing mun!

Talking about the No10, the bare facts are, alot of our players have gone missing in matches, just like the bear, he's missing too.

So who do we play up top?

Bony, who would have just come back from injury......that is if he is fit.
Abraham, risk our only fit headboard.

who?

Preparing to be shot down in flames here, but maybe Fer? He's tall, good header of the ball, strong shot on him, knows where the goal is and not afraid to mix it up with the opposition. And it would relieve him of the defensive duties which are his weak point. Only on the understanding that we're ruling out Tammy or Bony. I think I'd have more confidence in Fer up there than McBurnie.
