Pretty shocking that, and it's just as bad around the East. It needs sorting and it's going to cost a fortune.

If it's just the bolts rusting no problem, but if the rust has gone further very bad news.

I agree, the bolts that are holding everything together shouldn't be a problem if they are rusting away!

Wasn't this issue the reason for the court case between the club and the council & builders which the club lost?

It was cheap paint, and shoddy workmanship.

I know the owner of the painting company, Abdul from Newport.

I've worked on numerous projects where he was the painting contractor.

That is exactly something he would do.

And if you complained too much, you'd have to deal with his wife, Cherie / Sherri. And she was fearsome indeed.

I seem to recall the issue was the actual metalwork used. It rusts like beggary.
In fairness to the council you used to see giant cherry pickers there with the rust being blasted away and repainted. Almost every season.
For me this is a symptom of the short sighted Yanks wanting to offload. Let the new owners suffer the cost of a crumbling stadium.
The maintenance is heading South at the moment and will be a mega cost to the club shortly.

All iron and steel rusts chemically, too safeguard it will need to be painted with more than one coat and regularly every year, especially with our heavy rainfall.

That's a mess, and will take more than a lick of paint, and I would suggest that what you see there is only the tip of the iceberg.
It's going to cost hundreds of thousands to put that right all over the stadium.
Firstly it will need surveying, and the process for repair will be lengthy if done correctly,it needs sorting sooner rather than later.
Like is said it's going to cost a small fortune, the alternative will be to replace sections which have gone to far, it's all structural, and the intergrety of the structure needs to be upheld, sure some of it will be cosmetic, some won't be.
