Last night answered little. In fact it reinforced my opinions.
As in earlier games against teams who want to play football, rather than defend and attack on a counter, we had done well (particularly when the opposition is not on top form).
Opponents who bring a game end up with higher possession stats as they seek the ball. This gives the impression that the tactics have changed … they haven’t.
Some fans suggest Martin has learned and we go more direct. Wrong, Martin hasn’t changed but the opposition's approach creates more space to play through their midfield and defence.
And, our goal attempts were successful. The same number of attempts were on target last night (7) as they were against Reading yet they resulted in 3 more goals.
I hope the results keep coming but I have little confidence in Martin. |  |

If he gets us top 8 he will have done adequately.
If he fails to get top 8 he will have done poorly.
How he is perceived is entirely on his shoulders. The guy has spent the majority of his reign with us (and elsewhere) languishing in the doldrums of the league, he hasn’t done anything worthy of winning the fans over.
Once he does then I’m sure he will get the praise related to those achievements.
At the moment people are trying to praise him despite the opposite of those achievements materialising, that’s what tends to be the sticking point between certain fans. |  |

Yep.
There is no process, it’s a defence mechanism to avoid immediate responsibility. When we do win a game we make a pretty large shift away from his process.
I think that’s what is annoying him. He’s desperate to get his way to work but doesn’t understand how to, I think he changes when he feels most under pressure in order to get a result - then reverts back in another attempt to get it working once he feels the pressure is off.
The problem is, he doesn’t understand why the system doesn’t work so he can’t fix it. He ends up just doing the same thing over and over and hopes the result changes. He’s said it before “there is nothing wrong with the system as we dominated (possession)”. | |

Do you really believe the hierarchy at the club know what they are doing
Whilst in fairness they are doing well to keep things on an even keel financially do you believe they also actually understand fully the football side of things
Hopefully they are learning but let’s look at that it past records the appointment of Bradley, signing Morris and Arriola
you may feel we are doing ok but Friday showed how much better we could be doing had this manager picked a different formation and tactics such that many fans on here had been suggesting
It’s all about opinions but I’m not sure Jake Steve et al have fully grasped the workings of British league football and for me the jury is still out on Winter.
Why now has Martin made the change to four at the back and away from a lone striker his way has failed over the previous 8 games maybe someone did have a word in his shell like but no this can’t be so but why if there is a process has it been diverted from
