Euros should be called off (I'm sure they will be) and the Olympics too.
Long time between now and the Euros. More vaccines could be approved and so forth and be more readily available. Teams can easily have secure bases (like with cricket) in their own countries and fly privately to games. Would be absolutely gutted if they're cancelled - personally think it's extremely likely they'll go ahead, but where and with or without fans will be the logistical issues. Olympics I think is shakier, it's a much bigger operation. But again, will be gutted if that doesn't happen and absolutely awful for all those athletes who work their whole lives for that.
Think the next 2-4 weeks will be the worst, but hopefully from mid Feb things will very slowly improve. If they haven't cancelled/postponed the league now, i doubt they will in the future.
But start of the season, one, ideally both cups should have been ditched, OR the league games cut in half. Some teams would have one more away than home games, but without fans that's a leveller playing field anyway.

Great win this week but now vital in terms of what's going on with the season. I can't see it carrying on for much longer now - its turning into an unavoidable farce. And it would have been 'so QPR' to courteously slip into the bottom 3 just before the call and be relegated 'Hearts-style' via PPG.
I can't for the life of me remember who it was, but there was one season when a team in Serie A managed to stay out of the drop zone until the very last round of games, at which point they slipped into it and were promptly relegated.

I think it’s difficult for us to grasp at the moment as we’re in the eye of the storm but assuming no hitches with the vaccine etc and whisper it quietly but the situation should improve a lot over the coming months.
It could be like the reverse of how quickly life changed from normal to lockdown one. All we need to do is stay indoors and keep safe while the vaccine is rolled out.

I’ve read that Derby are in danger of going into administration and haven’t paid the player’s wages, all resting on the take over apparently. Although if I was them I’d delay the purchase until after administration and pay less for the club. I don’t know about ownership of the stadium or the loans secured on it.

Hmmmmmm, pretty sure i heard the other night that having the vaccine wont prevent you transferring it from 1 individual to another.
So you can vaccineca whole team, but they can still be super spreaders. Also, being 85-90% successful, you could re catch it after merely coming into contact with 1 in 10 peeps who are carriers, and the vaccine wont stop it.
Mind you, i also believed we were robbed when Wolves 'choked' in 76!
Good grief, farcical stuff. Obviously p1ssing in the wind but the EFL need to call this soon. The lower leagues already have absolutely no chance of catching up in my opinion, just a matter of time for the Championship and that lot above us.

Those were the latest PL figures I believe and includes all staff. Of those positive tests haven't heard anyone seriously ill - as you would expect, the majority being young and fit.
Government not aiming to have everyone (over 18s?) vaccinated until September at best, so unless cases in football clubs rise dramatically, I would say carry on.
Is football that important, no not v health, but by the same token, nothing is really, but life would be pretty boring without all those 'unnecessary distractions' - even more so since last March.

Even with vaccine you can catch it and spread it but chances of it killing you are a lot less, same as flu jab. It will mean you can go back to as close to normal as possible
Euros run until 11th July. I think a lot will depend upon the rollout of the vaccine and whether it cuts transmission of the virus. Too many unknowns to call it now.

Said this 2 weeks ago but it's mad they are still playing during a lockdown. Should be postponed, extend the season to finish in July and have a few weeks off now.
In other news Wycombes stadium is being used as a vaccination centre, not sure how that works when they have an outbreak at the club

As I said above young fit athletes at the back of the queue for the vaccine - rightly so - so they won't be getting it until September.
At what point will they null and void the season? Must be getting close and I imagine quite a few clubs are teetering on the financial edge as it is. Matter of time before a handful of Championship clubs fold.
and if they void the season, makes the £s situation worse as Sky/BT then stop payments or get money back.
dare i ask , derby and most clubs were told to find 14 players for the fa cup, even if it meant playing kids.....is there a different rule for league games? and with the widespread covid cases across all sports ( andy murray, an f1 driver, cricket, rugby etc) as well as thru the uk, time to suspend football or as dyche said, let players be vaccinated ( they can afford the jabs) this will then release "testers" to do their main work and not worry about football. i recently had covid, albeit a mild dose compared to many and it knocked me for 7! so i do sympathise with all affected.
Why should footballers get vaccinated to carry on doing their jobs and not any number of other workers - bus drivers, post workers, supermarket workers etc etc etc
Give me 5 minutes and I could think of at least 20 professions ahead of elite sportsmen and women!

Two Newcastle players were extremely Ill with Covid about three weeks ago. I can't remember their names or the outcome.
