Blackburn facts,figures and triggers

Blackburn is such a small place that more than the amount of people that live there follow the club. That means a lot of Blackburn folk follow their local side, and clearly some of them twice. There is no other explanation. Holland’s pies is the towns biggest exporter, in a hundred years back, or less, they used to export cotton ( not Holland’s pies ) to the world, then one eyed Joe got annoyed and it all went south. Not literally, nothing goes south from Blackburn as we have seen with their away supports over the years at Swansea. It shouldn’t ever be said that Blackburn people are thick, other than all of them mostly are really intelligent. They came second in the UK’s most intelligent town in 2017. This was an incredible achievement for them as they were the only town to enter. Thick or what ?

Everyone born in Blackburn has no toenails.

It's not bollocks at all cabango is an old fashioned centre half, he too stiff clumsy on ball to be a footballing centre half who can get ball off keeper in tight situations and play

you see what you want to see.
Stats very similar to Guehi's but he wins more headers, scores more goals, makes more assists and was called one to take the ball from the 'keeper 6 times more often than any other CB which suggests Cooper trusted him and Martin looks like he will continue with a different system and keeper.
On the other hand you have Bennett who is no mare than solid and Latibeaudiere who is a nightmare.
Last season Guehi played a position somewhere between full back and CB and had the chance to go forward a little bit more.
Cabango is a good footballer and the rock in that defence.
You see what you want to see, I see a future captain of Wales.

Naughton's a very good technical footballer but a buccaneering wingback he ain't.

Naughton for Lati at CB.
Personally I think him and Cabango will be good receiving the ball short. Maybe Bennett needs some more time, or replacing, but with the other 2 able to play that way, may give Bennett more time.

I’m hoping that Martin can get Yan Dhanda to realise his potential. He’s the most natural ball-player we’ve got and he made one or two runs and dribbles yesterday that were great to watch. But his effectiveness and end product are not what they should be. I think he suffers from lack of confidence and belief in his own abilities. I think Martin will see what he’s got and what is missing. If he can get Dhanda to apply himself more and become much more effective and committed, we could end up with a pretty decent midfielder.

Premier League clubs would be swarming if he was a rock who could receive the ball in tight situations and play out from the back, especially with his set piece threat. He’d also have been partnering Rodon ahead of Mepham at the Euros.

It’s probably disingenuous to pigeon hole him as ‘just a stopper’, but that’s predominantly what he is.

You can see the seeds of something that wants to grow, and we'll only get better. Martin needs a few new faces to make this work though. Rodon and Guehi would've thrived yesterday. Makes me even more angry at the 2 years we wasted on Cooperball.

He also let the ball run across his body in centre midfield gifting the ball to Blackburn who counter attacked and should have scored. Smacks of a player who doesn't know what's around him when receiving the ball, which is criminal for a midfielder. Not good enough.

I'm sure I've asked this before but if Cabango is so much better then why aren't EPL teams after him? I'm sure an offer of 5/6 million would land him but even if it went to 10 million Guehi went for much more and there are add ons too. So why is Cabango rated so highly by you when the evidence suggests Guehi is better?

Logic might even suggest that if Cabango is indeed better, that Fulham, WBA or Sheffield Utd might pitch in with a bid.
I'm not criticising Cabango, I like him and we need him here but the evidence, to myself anyway supports Guehi being the better player.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Beats me too. He's just an out and out defender, and not as good as Guehi in that respect. Cabango looks really uncomfortable with the ball at his feet so it'll be interesting to see how he adapts to our new passing style.

There were PL teams looking at Cabango last summer, surprisingly.

Big clubs sell young players for big fees. Some turn out to be good, some bad. Never think for a second top flight clubs aren't conned by a flash badge just as often as lower lever ones. A high fee is not a guarantee of quality.

Not a guarantee of quality but a certain sign of how others rate a player. Yes an EPL club will sell young players for bigger money but if a player is THAT good and could be bought really very cheaply, then why no offers?
Joe Rodon, he is better than Guehi (in my opinion anyway) and he went for an initial 11 million. Is anyone suggesting Cabango is as good as Rodon? So I'll ask again, if Cabango is THAT good, as good as Guehi at least, why has nobody made an offer, any offer?

No one made an offer for Michu. Only Swansea took the punt. They can all give you reasons why they did not take the plunge.

Tim Sherwood still talks about not making an offer to this day. It could have done his career a power of good.

Numerous turned down offers are obviously good to have, as we see with young Finn Downdes. Knowing that Palace had a £1.6m offer turned down for him is good to see. A good season with Swansea sees his value go back up under contract.

He’s not as rounded as either Rodon or Guehi. If a PL club were primarily looking for physicality and athleticism, they could do a lot worse.

If Rodon is a Jaguar then Guehi is a Rolls Royce - a superior footballer definitely . An incredible player we were very lucky to get on loan. He’ll play for England I’m sure, imperious for us at times.

If you want a CB Cabango is much better than Guehi and if you want a player who doesn't fall on his ares and whinge to the ref he's better than Rodon.
Overall independent ratings for last season
Cabango 7.12
Guehi 6.9
Rodon's fullish last season with us 6.9

It is quite obvious that Cabango is nothing more than a below average to average second tier defender.

If he was not a Welsh player who made it to the Swansea City first team through the academy system, he would not be afforded the overly generous opinions from supporters that he currently receives. I doubt he would have been plucked out of League 1 had he come through a youth system for a team in that league. He's fortunate to have joined us when he did.

Looks can be deceiving.
I'm not saying Cabango is better than Guehi by any means, but I think Ben actually runs funny. He doesn't move like a footballer, but his skiills are deceptive and definitely better than he looks. If that makes any sense to anyone else haha?
