| Swansea City v Coventry City : Matchday Thread AFTERMATH 18:08 - Mar 2 with 10413 views | NotLoyal | It’s the big game of the day in Swansea that’s for sure. Many other championship clubs will also be playing big games as well. In their own towns at least. Mark Robins who once played with Bobby Charlton’s old team wants to go to the premier league. He is making a good go of it. Better than Batman who he also played with. Coventry City are on a mission for play off points at Swansea 3rd Mar 2022 09:00Saturdays Championship battle between Swansea City and Coventry City see’s two sides in similar form. Both have won three out of their last five games, Coventry losing once and the swans losing twice. Coventry visit SA1 in tenth place with a superior goals scored and goals conceded record this season, plus they are ten points ahead of their rivals. 0 Nathanael Getting Ogbeta 3rd Mar 2022 15:59See what we did there ? New swans signing Nathanael Ogbeta is back in light training after five weeks of disappointment rehabilitating from a hamstring pull. After ten minutes of his first Swansea training session he broke down and hasn’t been able to join in any physical team activity. However, the added value for Nathanael has been gaining an understanding of the Russell Martin way when it comes to training his Swansea players, both mentally and physically. 0 The key factors to a successful Swansea City Saturday 5th Mar 2022 07:21Today’s game against Coventry City is a winnable proposition for Russell Martin’s side. Yes there has to be that click that we all saw last Monday night at the Hawthorns, and it most certainly comes down to numerous key Swansea components coming together. And by that we mean the positivity of certain players to bring about attacking football. 0 Russell Martin demands the same again from Swansea City 5th Mar 2022 13:00This afternoons game from the swansea.com stadium has become something of a defining moment for Russell Martin this week. Not only does he want to see another top performance at home, after three months of poor form it will show clearly his ability to turn around and get his team going again. 0 Swansea City: Andy Fisher; Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning; Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (captain), Korey Smith, Cyrus Christie; Joel Piroe, Jamie Paterson; Michael Obafemi. Substitutes: Ben Hamer, Jay Fulton, Olivier Ntcham, Kyle Joseph, Joel Latibeaudiere, Finley Burns, Cameron Congreve. Coventry City: Simon Moore, Jake Clarke-Salter, Michael Rose, Kyle McFadzean (captain), Jamie Allen, Ben Sheaf, Viktor Gyokeres, Ian Maatsen, Todd Kane, Jake Bidwell, Gustavo Hamer. Substitutes: Ben Wilson, Jodi Jones, Martyn Waghorn, Josh Reid, Matty Godden, Fabio Tavares, Ryan Howley. Obafemi ‘Scores some goals for Swansea’ in another three goal home win 5th Mar 2022 17:30Swansea City again turned on the style to make it five goals in two games with Michael Obafemi shining in front of goal yet again. Okay, let’s make it sound better, that’s eight goals in three games for the swans. We have to put that Sheffield United game to the back of our minds. To see Swansea dominate a first half so calmly and to score two goals from well created chances will please supporters of the Jacks. Coventry haven’t won in Swansea since 1960, and that trend has continued. 0

| Swansea City v Coventry City : Matchday Thread AFTERMATH on 20:01 - Mar 5 by Badlands | Like the grave after we went three up. Poor support. Manning hd one of his nightmare games, Christie wasn’t with It all and Naughton made some howlers too. Fisher three game saving saves and Grimes was good. Smith had abetter game than for some time. Decent ref and linos. Their only chances came from giving the ball away in midfield. 3 goals 3 points. |
I was expecting a lot of noise. Better off with armchair fans The ones that go are often silent.Looking around ,many look bored ,which is not surprising considering how we've been for most of this season. We've had a run of home wins.Praise be but I dont really see or hear the excitement that Russ pledges . We still did our best t give goals when 3-0 up. We can play-for sure-but we need to stick with the direct stuff. Obe's goals were terrific and made because we were sensible and pragmatic. Then we started we faff about at the back. Martin needs to address this. We have the talent to have made the play offs at least Now,on to Nitrovic .

Hopefully there will be a chance for a few more of the younger lads. |
We're absolutely safe now, no question about it. No extra prize money for finishing 11th compared to 15th. Why not make a commitment that a previously unused (not Cabango for example) academy product has minutes in every game from now on in? Just an idea

That word pragmatic has constantly been typed blindly with no real idea of the actual pragmatic work put in to the situation we found ourself in after the play off final loss......no way was this squad play off material this season, no way at all. We are getting a clearer vision as the season goes on where we need to get set ready for August, the start of next season is where the screw really starts to turn and see this seasons work come to real fruition. Next season will not be a play off push, next season will be a top target of a top 10 finish.

It was clear months ago how we needed to play in order to progress. My annoyance this season is we have wasted months doing the same thing over and over again when it clearly was not working and was not going to work. The fact we are playing this way again is encouraging, but we played this direct brand of football in our run earlier in the season too, yet then simply abandoned it and went back to the 800 passes and 80% possession walking pace stuff. I’m just hoping this is the confirmation he needs to now stick with it. If he does then this squad can finish anywhere it wants within reason this season.

"The ones that go are often silent.Looking around ,many look bored ,which is not surprising considering how we've been for most of this season." How on earth would you know ? How many games have you been to and talked fans, shared the reaction ? Believe me all those around me and enjoyed the game. Not sure how you can judge off radio commentary ( as of course you cannot watch it - can you? )

I agree, I’ve seen 3 home matches when I’ve come home, and quite a few away in the NW and midlands. Most fans can see what we are trying to do and the atmosphere has been great in all the games I’ve seen, especially away. At home, I’ve sat in the family stand with my dad and the support had been superb. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I did find that a strange comment to make , Everyone around me and believe me they criticise when they feel its justified , really enjoyed todays game and bored. Try to enjoy the moment, it was a good performance and a well deserved result

He's already salivating with pleasure at the prospect of Mitrovic giving us a torrid game.

| Swansea City v Coventry City : Matchday Thread AFTERMATH on 19:12 - Mar 5 by STID2017 | I have been critical of Grimes for much of this season. Thought he had a decent game on Monday and today he was excellent. Hopefully he, RM and the rest of the team are learning what works. Excellent win today. |
Everyone knows my views on Grimes but if he performs at the level of these last two games I’ll eat humble pie. Great win but the shine was taken off by terrible game management at the end. Fisher deserved a clean sheet but in the last twenty minutes it seemed his defenders were hell bent on teeing up Coventry players for shots on goal. Thankfully this is the championship and their finishing was woeful

The management of the club at board level since relegation has been the very definition of pragmatism. Thank God I can’t read his posts now.

He has struggled to see or be honest with the clubs position since Cooper left. He has used the situation as a stick to hit Martin and fans who went against Cooper. Doesnt want to admit/see that this season was going to be a big change and transition was obviously going to be something we had too do. When I read that we should be atleast pushing for the play offs and this squad is better than last season then it sums up the understanding of some on here.
