| Swansea City v Norwich City : Matchday Thread 2022/23 on 20:06 - Dec 10 with 1684 views | vetchonian | after the brain fart start...still cannot understand why given our manager/coach an ex defender cannot make us us a solid defensive unit..we played at times some nice football but I still do not understand what timesNaughton and Manning were our most advanced players whilst Fulton which has a shot on him was back in defence...but then I am not as intelligent as our Russ we seem to be chasing the perfect goal scored in the box....we have players like Fulton, Manning and Natchm who have shown in the past they have a long range shot on them yet no one seems to take one on....is this due to instructions? Ollie Cooper is not a wide player he is CAM that's where has been most successful yet again like the Wigan game he was pushed out on the right 6 games now without a win...a boring watch....is he really worth a contract extension | |

Exactly this. I enjoyed Sousa reign more than this, at least we won our fair share of matches under him. The last 2 seasons have been dire, especially knowing the strength of the squad we have. Just feels like wasted time on top of wasted time. By the time we get a decent manager in, our better players may well have moved on.

Okeo-Flex is worth more playing time than 10 n minutes here and there , pace , prepared to take a player on , today he gave us a much more attacking threat on the right than Patterson ever did. Cooper should have started ,he's strong ,direct and today up against a defence who were more interested in the player than the ball could have provided some interesting options

He manages nice footballing teams that win a few and lose a few. When Swansea were at the bottom they went on a great run. Then his team ran out of gas again. Hot and cold. Lucky and unlucky. He has never manged a team who stay top 6 for a period of time, This is not on his CV. On he other hand this might have been a serious beating last season as teams like Norwich scored from second half breakaways. I saw two very weak headers in the 6 yard box from Naughton and Piroe. I believe an aerial threat will add greatly to this side. A McBurnie type player. Piroe is weak aerially. So is Cullen

Strong players make the difference. We have a few but for some w reason we leave a few others on the bench

I think winning a few just ends up wasting more time with the inevitable. I’m so apathetic these days I rarely celebrate when we win and barely think about it when we lose. There is no realistic progression path, it feels like a free lesson with a substitute teacher, it’s just wasting time until someone comes back in that has an idea what they are doing.

I agree sadly, I don't even think about going down to watch us these days, got to much frustrations in life without adding to them. He just doesn't seem to learn, we go on a run winning a few then he gets fed up with how we've achieved those wins and then refers back to type. The players waiting in the wings are just not getting the opportunities to show what they do, Oko Flex is wasted here, he seems to give him a go and then once Martin gets a negative feeling because the player hasn't done what he deems to be the right thing, he's hauled off and is back to 10 minutes or less again. Oko Flex needs to be played to get the best out of him he's a young lad he's gonna make mistakes, could have a decent give or two then have 3 or 4 not so good, that's to be expected with a young player surely, he needs time on the field of play, not just assessed on the training field. It amazes me as to how patient Martin his with his team tactic's but then not patient with some players.

For patience read stubbornness! I think that offering this guy a new lengthy contract would turn out to be costly both financially and in the pitch. As has been said constantly, he just isn’t learning.

Should always start with Ollie Cooper for the energy he brings to the team. He would have made the difference for Wales in the World Cup too as the midfield Page picked was completely ineffective.

Talk of a new contract, is far to premature, all its gonna do is increase the cost of his payoff, Yanks could be just happy to see us as a midtable team though, so it could probably suit them to keep him.

In short I want him gone. Asbo corner singing "swansea loves you more than you will know" baffles me, we should be real automatic promotion contenders, instead we'll probably end up in mid table mediocrity again.
