Gwyn figures like that are easily available to Galbraith if his current buyout is as low as I believe. He will probably pick up a minimum £2M signing on fee, spread over a 4 year's contract that's £10K a week there. I actually thought it was Wolves interested with more than that now and Premier League wages build into the contract if/when they go up. I really don't think he will be with us at the end of June. If we're not financially stable enough to hold onto players we want to hold onto and just want to be a selling club, then why are they talking about getting promoted back to the "promise land"? I get it that some players would want to move on to try and achieve their dream, but surely the club can sell the clubs dream to them especially the established players etc, other clubs manage to hold onto to their players in the main, but to lose 3 maybe 4 players who are basically the spine of the squad ain't gonna help SCFC realise their dream.
We can't just go on sourcing these players to then lose them after a season or two, we are never gonna get any progression, when we need to keep players and add similar quality to the squad, etc. [Post edited 30 May 0:14]

Crucial to previous promotion seasons, unknowns were unearthed and they fitted our style of play as it evolved. I cannot remember mass changes of players as we went through the leagues. ( my mind might be playing tricks though 🤔).
We have a manager who POTENTIALLY has the skillset to make us competitive over a season, but I believe there will be more wheeling and dealing to be done until the finances are at a reasonable level.
Myself, for what it's worth, would sell both Vip and Galbraith, spend 75% on a proper right winger, a ball playing centre half and an experienced striker who will hold the ball up for longer than 3 seconds and to let the oppo centre half he's there, bank the 25% for future plans.
Patience and holding our nerve is what we need right now. I want to see small tweeks this coming season and an improving style which will come with famiarity | | | |

With our current policy of spreading transfer fees over the length of the signed players contract we are never going to start the new financial year with a fresh slate, we are always going to have a rolling debt. I would also sell Vipotnik and use the finances to get a replacement and restructure financially. Galbraith is another story and out of our hands, if a club comes in with the pre arranged fee he's gone. By the time we pay Orient their sell on and other fees we will be very lucky to net £5M and we will struggle to get a decent replacement for that. | | | |

Completely agree. As all clubs we would love to keep top players so we can see if we can push, and it's fair points that the other poster mentioned about if want promotion then we don't want to keep selling and replacing. But in the case of Vipotnik, mad as this may sound, if and that's a big if we sold him for 20 to 25M then I would take it to invest into the squad and fill the holes and issues. It's a gamble I wouldn't like to make with Vipotnik. If he stays does he get more value or decrease? As for Galbraith, get 10M for him and move on. I don't have time for players who are playing up after 1 season. Yes he was played out of position, but he like all of us knew the circumstances to why he was playing there and helped the team. It's not like he had never played there and it wasn't like putting a striker in goal. Galbraith in my own opinion has had the hype get to his head to much especially on international duty. There is no loyalty in football but considering this was a player who was desperate to come to us and now possibly wanting an escape route, I say let him go. | | | |

Just being told there’s no hurry for DOF which I would there should be by now. Transfer window opens in two weeks. My hunch is Gorringe will head up transfers using Adam Worth’s lists which will be Swansea City property. He may surprise us but any expert coming in is a threat to him.
As for Galbraith rumours regards Wrexham are incorrect at the moment at least.
Gorringe needs to see him as a signing if a contract agreement is reached. Plus, there’s the small matter of no offers or bids have been received, not least it’s not the transfer window yet. But agents are always on alert. | |

I think we brought Walta in as a successor for when Glabriath leaves. That said I'm sure the scouting team are casting their net far and wide about other suitable replacements/strengthen the squad.
For a like for like if/when Galbraith leaves what about Cantwell? Not sure if we'd be able to prise him away from Rovers but a similar type of player with a little extra added bite. |
I think they are entirely different players. Walta against Charlton looked an out and out number 10 for me. We have Stamenic and Fulton and we could bring in another CDM from the Continent or promote a promising u21 player.
If we did go 3-5-2 I think Franco and Widdell will shine together in the engine room with Walta playing the head of the diamond. | | | |

I'm surprised so many want to sell Vip. I suppose that if one believes this last season was a bit of a flash in the pan and unlikely to be repeated, then yes, cashing in would make sense. However, I thought one of the lessons of our relegation is that when you sell players who have been regular scorers - Siggy and Llorente- you cannot assume that the big fees automatically guarantee a good-enough replacement. It is always a gamble, which so many clubs take with only a minority succeeding. I would be more interested in recruiting a box to box midfielder in the O'Brien mould, a right back, and perhaps a 2nd striker to be a foil or alternative for Vip. Idah is show promise, but perhaps a bigger No 9 type with good hold up play would give us an alternative for some games. | | | |
