As it was a memorial to the soldiers who died in the Boer War (1899-1902), those soldiers would have been buried in South Africa cemeteries rather than their bodies brought home - their families would never have been able to visit those graves of their loved ones. So these memorials became the equivalent of graves for many of those families to visit. This is a case of some cowardly idiot mocking the defenceless dead, and No, I don't think that there is anyone on this site who would ever support this. [Post edited 25 Jun 2019 18:31]
