| Rest of the Championship thread 25/26 on 10:31 - May 13 by dmm | It's the parachute payments that relegated prem teams receive that totally skews the competition. That's an issue that must be addressed to start leveling up the playing field. |
Last night was a good example really. Boro absolutely out on their feet. Southampton just had more depth. Saints' best player has to go off and they can bring Edozie on for him. Boro lose Conway and Strelec and all they've got is Castledine, who's good and I like, but is just a prospect who was playing for Huddersfield 6 months ago. Look at some of the gear Southampton have got on that bench for goodness sake. Cameron Archer would be the best player we've had since Eze, there he's an unused sub. Fellows was West Brom's best player, bench. Downes was Swansea's best player, bench.

We are going to end up with 2 parachute clubs likely going up in Ipswich and Saints anyway. Next season you'd imagine the 3 coming down will be strong, doesn't look like theres a Leicester in there, plus Norwich, Wrexham and Brum will fancy it. |
True but Burnley will be without Bore Man Parker so maybe they can screw up the parachute payments. Wolves are rubbish, should lose a few players and Rob Edwards failed when Luton came down, West Ham will surely lose Bowen, Summerville, Soucek etc so may not find it that easy. If Spurs, on the other hand, record number of points incoming. [Post edited 13 May 10:56]

Yeah fairly ridiculous that Archer didn't even get on the pitch - he walks into any other Championship team (or some Prem teams).

Was a handball wasn't it? Commentator said that's what they gave it for. Harsh but his arm was raised and the ball hits his hand

Hit his head as you say harsh or could be viewed as a dodgy decision

They didn't show one camera angle that clearly showed that it hit his hand rather than forehead. If it did, how did the ball travel all the way to the touchline (unless he punched it, which he didn't)? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yes, I'm a bit disappointed it's not Spurs but this is a good consolation prize. They looked to have picked up form but have ended the season pretty meekly.

I suppose in the unlikely event Scum beat them, it still goes to the last game of the season - but it does look like West Ham form has dropped off a cliff.

Would make me laugh that the "West Ham way" from the "under the lights ahht the Boleyn" lot would turn into 0-0s a plenty.

Interested to see who West Ham replace him with in November 2027 after a disappointing nine points from their first 11 Prem games leaving them four points from safety. Big Ange perhaps. Dychey. Can’t be Nuno. The bloke at Forest now will have been sacked by then.
