to be fair to the EFL they do have a rule in place for it which they have charged them with. Southampoton are dragging it out just as we did bac in 2011 so that the EFL just can't block their promotion.

Soton should be kicked out of the play-offs. A Hull/Boro final. It's the only fair sanction if proved guilty. Fines, given the financial disparity between the Championship and the Premier League, would be meaningless.

Football isn’t really real life until it is. The EFL could get this wrapped up one way or another if they wanted to. Southampton would look pretty silly trying to bring legal action against them if they overturned the result.
FWIW I don’t think the ‘spying’ on its own justifies booting them out but they were dicks last night. Have a bit of contrition. Harwood-Bellis always comes across as a knob and I’m sure will get a semi-serious ban for this.

I do think Soton should be eliminated from the play offs. How much of an advantage spying on a training session provides can be debated. However, bringing the game into disrepute, such as spying, cannot be.
If football is seen as a corrupt sport, it loses legitimacy. There's enough unethical stuff happening off the field without clubs adding to it.
The EFL should use this situation to draw a line in the sand and make it clear that this form of cheating will not be tolerated.

What's a shame is that the league seemed really open this year withj Cov, Millwall, Boro, Hull, Derby etc having a go. We are going to end up with 2 parachute clubs likely going up in Ipswich and Saints anyway.
Next season you'd imagine the 3 coming down will be strong, doesn't look like theres a Leicester in there, plus Norwich, Wrexham and Brum will fancy it.

It's the parachute payments that relegated prem teams receive that totally skews the competition. That's an issue that must be addressed to start leveling up the playing field.
