If I relate how sad this deal is to my own finances...

I feel like I've just got a payday loan but if I'd waited a few months I wouldn't have needed it because I would be getting a huge pay rise.

I'm sure that the board of directors recently said that after running the club for 12 years, they couldn't go on for ever and wanted to spend more time with their families.

So they sold out AND stayed on anyway.

It's just the internet, init.

I hope what I've just read about continuing the growth of the club isn't just sound bites, on reading that it lifts my spirits for now at least, but its all about time innit.

With respect, of course it is Max. It's just another sugar coated set of sound bites designed to curry favour. They're not gonna say any different, are they? Of course, it's not in their interests to run the club into the ground and oversee failure, but at the end of the day what made us operate slightly differently to the rest, and IMO gave us a slight working advantage, is now a thing of the past

Jenkins and Dineen in particular have now painted targets on their backs. Goodwill has been spent; no more closed ears and turned backs towards repeated f*ck ups and poor performance in certain areas.... they're now just another set of employees

We can only get on with things now and show support until such time we are let down.

However for Jenkins and Dineen to still have a large monthly amount of the clubs cash hitting
their bank accounts every month is obscene, they have taken the pot of gold and sold their
interest in the club showing for them personal wealth out weighs the clubs interests. Its not like either are starving with no roof over their heads at present. If it does go tits up I can see HJ being the new Petty,I wonder how he will like that?

I agree with what you are saying, but I'm trying to paint a brighter picture for myself, although what keeps nagging away at me is in the way things have been done with very little clarity which is the biggest worry, but there's nothing we can do now unfortunately.

I love the cynicism on here. Fans of many other clubs would be flying US flags by now while bending over and offering the lube. In that respect at least we're still "not just another football club".

True dat.

I guess Leicester made it work. I'm not sure of their business model but we don't have to be a Villa. It's done now anyway. No point in fretting. I wanted to see how far the old model would go, because I was wedded to it. So lets look forward then.

Generally, unless I've missed something, the only thing that has fundamentally changed as of today are the people that will take the dividends, or maybe interest payments....which would be worse for the trust. The running of the football side will probably be largely unchanged.

I think people expecting mega 'investment' in players will be disappointed, and I think that may be a good thing. taht way lies Newcastle/Cardiff/Villa/Leeds. I expect us to do what we would have done anyway using the TV money to fund player/running costs and dividends, with interest bearing debt funding any stadium changes.

I certainly hope to see a change for the better on the commercial side. Anything else I'd expect. Yes, ticket prices should be 'stable' (ie only increase by 10-15%) but, ironically, expansion would kill price increases as I think demand will become more elastic with increased supply.

I would think a breakdown of the new share ownership should/will appear on the Club Site in due course, can't wait for an official statement from the Trust.
Could be a lot of good will come out of this takeover especially in two areas the squad and stadium expansion,if we continue as members of the PL in the short/medium term and expand the stadium to acceptable levels alongside then the takeover would be considered a success. As a first step, hopefully, our new owners will provide our Manager with sufficient funding this summer to strengthen the squad.

Fair point.

IMO keeping Jenkins in the job i have no issue with, he has proven himself to be good at what he does overall, Dineen? well i'm not so sure, that's not to be mean but i don't think his record of running the commerical aspects of the club has been up to what it should be for a global product.

All the roles taken on by our board have been taken on with forgiveness in mind from supporters, now people will expect every aspect of our club to be run spot on and as professional as can be.

I suspect there will be a change of attitude from many people to those who will now occupy key positions, they are now eing payed as full time executives in a market where results matter, no free pass because they saved the club many years ago, it's just pure buisiness from now on.

The reported cost of buying the club.

We are not talking a thousands or even a £1, prices at the club were sold for in the past.

My understanding is the club is/was valued at £100M. 60% of shares bought = £60M. Up to now there is no mention of further investment.

I don't really want to knock the Trust here but a few press releases does not cut it in my book. In the public at least, they seem impotent and without action. I'm sure behind the scenes that's not the case, at least I hope so anyway.

Someone said on the thread earlier that maybe those who've retained shares could side with the trust if needed in the future? Really, would the trust trust those who come bearing those kind of gifts bearing in mind the way the board have treated the fans, the trust and the club over the last couple of yers. To me it's a mess and I'm not sure where the truth is and who to believe. Is the sale a good thing? From where we are now I sincereely hope it is as its all we've got!

I think most clubs' supporters would react in exactly the way that we have, given all the machiavelisms that's been going on.

I wouldn't get to carried away with what people write [I include myself here to] we're all Swans fans and the unknown is increasing the emotions, like I said, time is needed to see how it all pans out, but I agree with people's views about the former shareholders, I'm hoping that with most retaining some shares isn't them just having their cake and then eating it, although the way they have handled all this suggests that may well be the case, we can't really pre-empt anything right now.

It's the day our Club changed for ever. We may progress and we may not but whichever direction we take it's a sad day. Dark clouds are gathering and I'm seriously underwhelmed. It don't care if they have a million gazillion trillion pounds to invest. It's not been handled too well and it's all change.

I sincerely hope our club progress which will go some way to justifying the decision but it's not our Club any more and that changes things. A lot.

It is the way in which it has been done that has created the issues. If this sale share had been conducted in a fairly transparent way then I believe that more people would be in the give them a chance/wait and see corner rather than a sceptical/outright hostility corner.

I would expect lots of headline nice things to be said for a while in an attempt to win hearts and minds. Personally I am in the sceptical corner because of the way buyers and sellers have acted and will wait until there is a much clearer picture, perhaps as long as a year or more down the line, when we have more of an idea of what the plan is before pronouncing that this is a disaster or not. Therein lies the issue unless it all goes belly up immediately people will be waiting for this to go wrong.

Yes things change, money changes everything but not necessarily for the better.

The small silver lining for me is those "eight unnamed figures". Plurality of ownership will hopefully prevent the kind of crass stupidity a single owner can do. There's also an outside chance that one or more of those who have retained a small stake will be prepared to side with the Trust if needs be to provide 25% of votes.

Although obviously none of them can be relied upon or trusted to do so. Not any more.

It will be interesting to understand if the existing (non Trust) shareholders who have sold and may be left with some small residual equity stakes - have assigned their voting rights away on those residual stakes.

The Trust should have sold in my view - as would have been best way of ensuring a professional football club in Swansea - totally controlled by the fans.

Staying in is a very short term view - especially with ups and downs of football - should have taken a much longer strategic view.
