My methods are not favoured by some but by god i speak the truth.

I continue to be irritated by the panic buying stories. This is NOT behaviour I condone, BUT I believe people are not fearful of food supplies running out. The real reason is that, if predictions are correct and we are still a way off the peak, once that day comes folk will not want to be in close quarters with a group of people where maybe 30% are infected.

We can choose to go to a restaurant, pub, theatre etc but we have to buy food. What I would like to see is a clear plan from the retailers about how they will deal with this eventuality because I'm not sure I've seen one yet.

Sorry downvoted in error, but upvoted to compensate.

However agree very important point, as shopping required but real risk of infection especially if things continue to escalate as they almost certainly look to, given the exponential growth.

Fairly relaxed (don’t even have a working freezer) but it is really difficult and much more dangerous for some (and to some extent for all).

Some of the stuff on this thread is a disgrace. Thankfully we only have a tiny audience of a few football internet nerds but the concern is that the internet is full of pseudo experts the like of which infest this thread like the ghouls they are.

Follow the advice. Stay home if you can. Stop trying to persuade people that they’re all going to die. You tw@ts.

ECB earlier this month .....

‘Give it a month and we’ll all be talking about something else’ !

‘We’ve also had to cancel at least one industry meeting due to people being unwilling to participate at the moment. Silly mun.’ !

––––––––––––––––––––––––

I wasn’t aware of anyone saying, or even suggesting, that everyone is going to die?

Do you think it helpful to underplay it and consequently have some take it less seriously than it actually is, and potentially increase the spread by a more lax attitude?

It might be more helpful if you point out anything incorrect that anyone has said. Or are you suggesting we should just hide the truth and let people think everything is Ok, when their actions are essential to stop it?

There needs to be more of a concentrated focus on relevant parts of the UK.

The border between Wales and England needs to be policed and restricted in movement, likewise England and Scotland.

The pussyfooting around has to stop.

No one thinks it’s ok. People are being bombarded with info all the time.

Some on here are posting every bit of bad news (not you, I hasten to add). Almost incessantly.

There’s a point at which there will be extreme amounts of illness through anxiety as well as everything else.

As for the first part of your post. Shame on you.

Partly there are always going to be lots of cases in big, crowded cities. But also, London hospitals are taking people from elsewhere due to specialist facilities, And they are then recorded as London cases, or London deaths. The cases would have been elsewhere anyway.

As an example, the first Swansea case was transferred to London. If that happened now, it would show in London numbers as testing is now hospital based.

We are seriously cranking down how much TV news we are watching and I no longer need anyone to tell me what I need to do in order to protect myself and my family.

Also in the last week I’ve become conscious of spending too much time on social media and Twitter in particular so that’s going to change as of now.

I firmly believe that part of the way to overcome these new restrictions in our lives is to focus on the positives around us and not dwell on the negatives.

I agree.

Trying to stop looking at endless updates now. It’s doing no good. I’m isolating as much as possible, as I’m sure virtually everyone is, so being told every single piece of bad news in Italy, or Spain etc doesn’t change anything, it’s just bad for mental health.

Humans until recently lived in small communities we are designed to deal with the life events of small communities.

Not everyone is self isolating though and I find myself getting wound up and annoyed by it, hence my comment about Twitter. I’m a little bit ashamed by the fact that we have food in the house for a month, we didn’t panic buy and have simply done a shop most days this week. I could see the inevitable even if Boris and his team couldn’t and when we are up to 1500 UK deaths by this time next week I won’t take any satisfaction other than the small crumb of comfort of doing my very best to protect my immediate family, some of who have their own health issues. I will absolutely focus on this positive, the rest is very much bad for mental health.

Hardly anybody is actually isolating though. The shops are absolutely rammed from dawn until dusk. When the shops aren’t open there are hundreds of people waiting outside for them to open. Kids are all out playing as if it’s an extra holiday. I don’t know if you’ve seen the photos of thousands of people turning up at welsh tourist spots, castles and landmarks today?

It’s just bonkers.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Probably due to the grading - has anyone out there said about the standard needed to stop the virus getting through a mask?

No, it's that the mask has to fit the wearer, to ensure a tight seal.

Thats why you need to be face-fit tested to confirm the mask is providing the correct protection.

Also need to be clean shaven if wearing disposable masks.

I really hope that today and tomorrow is everyone’s last big shop. Failure to eliminate the scenes of queuing at supermarket opening times will simply add to the spread of this ‘thing’ (I can no longer bring myself to call it by its proper name).
