| “Firebreak lockdown” a masterclass in incompetence. 23:33 - Oct 22 with 24945 views | Highjack | Dr Drakeford and his cronies have really set the bar high on the incompetence stakes on this one. They have announced tonight that retailers will only be allowed to sell “essential goods” during the 17 day lockdown but they are unable to say what counts as essential or non essential. At the time of writing this there is just over 18 hours to go until these rules come into force. The predictable result is that the entire population of Wales will rush out in the short time that is left and ravage the shelves of anything and everything that could potentially count as non essential. Meanwhile retailers are completely in the dark with just a few hours to go they are blissfully unaware of what they will or won’t be allowed to sell or whether they’ll be allowed to stay open at all. Absolute idiocy from dippy Drakeford and this cabal of insidiously irrational imbeciles. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk- | |

Frankly, effectively cancelling this grotesque spectacle would give me joy. Trump was crowing that Biden and his support for masks etc would top them enjoying Thanksgiving,Halloween and Christmas. We are facing wholescale deaths before our very eye YET,we are that selfish a to prioritise events where we "celebrate". Celebrate what exactly. A viral genocide. Truly, mankind has lost its way

Being a very family oriented person, family is the most important thing in my life. IMO families get together for Christmas and make a special effort to get together. Yes we all have to try and follow the rules, but in all honesty if you tried to stop families getting together for Christmas it would be the final straw and you would lose any support left. People would ignore the rules and it would be the beginning of the end for the public following the regulations and Government know this.

Who says we do not do it at other times of the year. Its just that Christmas (as Easter) with its religious cogitations enables family to remember the past and look forward to the future.

There’s nothing wrong in principle with the ban on essential goods, the issue is and was how it was communicated. To announce that just a few hours before lockdown was going to start was completely incompetent. They should have clarified exactly what was essential and non essential.

It is still sinking in with some ... The late announcement on non-essential goods being off limits in supermarkets was down to complaints from Tory AMs shortly before lockdown. But what which non-essential items would be needed?

I do. It seems many see Christma as the ONLY tme for family get togethers-hence the obsession about Christmas . It is why Boris is to introduce a month long lockdown to save Christmas-to which I say-fook Christmas if it means more deaths. It aint worth the hassle.

The modern family, people work nights, people work weekends. It's difficult for all the family to be together. Christmas is one of those times, where a lot of people can be. Not all, but a lot can.

England needs to lock down and should have done it already, irrespective of Christmas it's overdue.

Utter rubbish. It was only jumped on by anti-Wales and anti-Labour trolls who led the usual whiners to get annoyed about something that didn't affect them. And as it turned out the restriction in supermarkets was the result of Drakeford acting on moans from the Tiries that supermarkets were getting an advantage and the only big fuss was down to TESCOs miss information about tampons in one Cardiff store. My local TESCO said they have barely noticed any difference. This is a bit like the people who moan about their clubs ... Even winning the PL by winning every games with flowing football would lead some to complain the goal difference should have bee higher.

Quite right. But, they didn't do themselves any favours at all with the 24 hour warning of it happening. I get that the Tory shithead only said it the previous day, but it could have been handled better. It will be bread and butter for the likes of Raynor, who can and will use it to beat the Welsh Government.

| “Firebreak lockdown” a masterclass in incompetence. on 13:35 - Oct 31 with 718 views | ReslovenSwan1 | in the western Europe there has been no war or massive crisis to worry about since 1945. 75 years ago. Any one alive then is now very elderly. Crisis that has happened has been financial in nature and government action hs been able to reslove it. There was fear from Chernobyl for example and people in some places needed to stay indoors for a day or two depending on the prevailing wind. Clearly the World should have shut down international travel completely in Februaray march and compensated the international carriers in full. This was "a step too far for them". All incomers should have been isolated. People need to follow the rules set out for them by their selected representatives democratically elected .Some might say I did not vote and I do not want to follow the rules. That is their problem. Drakeford is doing the right think and I am no socialist | |
