| “Firebreak lockdown” a masterclass in incompetence. 23:33 - Oct 22 with 24924 views | Highjack | Dr Drakeford and his cronies have really set the bar high on the incompetence stakes on this one. They have announced tonight that retailers will only be allowed to sell “essential goods” during the 17 day lockdown but they are unable to say what counts as essential or non essential. At the time of writing this there is just over 18 hours to go until these rules come into force. The predictable result is that the entire population of Wales will rush out in the short time that is left and ravage the shelves of anything and everything that could potentially count as non essential. Meanwhile retailers are completely in the dark with just a few hours to go they are blissfully unaware of what they will or won’t be allowed to sell or whether they’ll be allowed to stay open at all. Absolute idiocy from dippy Drakeford and this cabal of insidiously irrational imbeciles. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk- | |

| “Firebreak lockdown” a masterclass in incompetence. on 10:48 - Oct 31 by Whiterockin | Being a very family oriented person, family is the most important thing in my life. IMO families get together for Christmas and make a special effort to get together. Yes we all have to try and follow the rules, but in all honesty if you tried to stop families getting together for Christmas it would be the final straw and you would lose any support left. People would ignore the rules and it would be the beginning of the end for the public following the regulations and Government know this. |
I'm family orientated too and am missing out on seeing my young grandchildren growing up but these days are dark and will pass only if we wise up. Reading the likes of Piers Corbyn and his campaign I aint confident. And Christmas ,with all its pressure to enjoy and be happy ,can fook right off;for many the lonelinest and most painful time of the year. In fact 2020 can knob off asap.

I totally agree with the non essential ban, but the way it’s been handled has been poor. it was introduced following representations from Conservative politicians about an level playing field etc and I get it, but it’s just been poorly executed and it hasn’t addressed the issue or ordering on line. Moving forward, if the Senedd and the National Government want the High Street and small business to succeed they need to do something about business rates.

Me too. The aim should be that people can only go out and buy what they need. None of this endless browsing, stopping to chat to Mavis from the bingo for forty five minutes. People should be able to go without most things for two weeks. But because of the lack of clarity, unwillingness to enforce the rules and general incompetence from Dippy Drakers everything is largely carrying on as normal and the virus will have a field day.

Personally feel he should have kept his counsel on this. If he wanted to say anything then say it applies to England only and say his cabinet will meet tomorrow to consider what’s been said, but reference to the 9th is in my eyes premature because if our lockdown doesn’t work and numbers are still going up in some places he may have to extend it.

Did you not listen to him when he announced the lockdown? He said we wouldn’t know how it worked for a couple of weeks after. He also said it would not be extended after the 9th

I personally would have kept my council as well until as late as possible and got as much info as possible before making any further decisions, he can still do that of course mind. [Post edited 31 Oct 2020 14:15]

He can, but then it looks like he’s changing his mind, indecisive etc. A lot of our politicians need to put their twitter accounts away and consider matters before posting. Drakers though, is by no means the worst.

Definitely, Drakeford is better than most other politicians, some of the politicians in the devolved Governments are better than some of the Westminster politicians.

He did say not beyond the 9th, but if it isn’t working then he should keep his options open. There’s no point having a circuit breaker for 2 weeks, and if it hasn’t worked reverting to pre circuit breaker.

Rightio .... So when you said ‘a masterclass in incompetence’ ... what you actually meant was that Prof Drakers had called it right, welsh lives would be saved, and Johnsons England would very soon be performing the mother of all U turns to copy Wales. You just used different words ... ? Yes the Welsh Govt made the wrong call on kettles and books in super markets, but thats just some noise given the enormity of the overall global pandemic situation. I am sure you know that. Otherwise left is right, and right is wrong. Please use better words. [Post edited 31 Oct 2020 17:29]

Those figures are per head of population not total population, even a child could see that. Sweden has come out and stated that herd immunity is not an option.Cases in Sweden are soaring. Upssala in Sweden is now in lockdown Their economy has not done any better than that of neighbouring countries You are wrong on every count |
They had an influx of care home deaths when they first refused to shut down, but for the last six months there number of deaths over the last six month period are lower than Wales ffs, for the last 6 months there daily death rate is appx between 3 and six a day, they hit 5000 during the first period of non shutdown 6 months later they are still in the 5000s there death rate has reduced dramatically, actually no deaths at all today, and most importantly they have saved god knows how many lives by simply continuing normal health care, i think you need to get help to get your mind off this virus, it is frightening you so much, you are giving out the impression that you are absolutely petrified, maybe it is time to get some help to get your mind focused somehow away from the Covid otherwise you could possibly end up having some sort of breakdown. That’s the issue, people have been scared so much by the over exaggerated stats. It’s strange how the Cambridge experts say that the actual fortunes are approx half of imperials figures. Why follow the science of one side? Covering their backsides for next years fallout most probably.

My wife works on the covid ward at Morriston, and the things she tells me about some of the suffering that goes on there because of this virus is truly horrifying. Everytime she goes to work it scares me. If she has a coughing bout I think is this it.Almost every nurse and support worker there has had the virus except for her. If I come across as being a bit scared of this it's because i am I get really annoyed when silly selfish c*nts think this is a joke and they won't get it or pass it on to the vulnerable.
