Players you were gutted to see go 14:56 - Nov 6 with 6918 viewspaulparker

following on from what Disco said on another thread about being gutted when Sinton Left
what players were you most annoyed /upset about leaving
im going for the days before endless speculation on sky sports, the days when you picked up the red tops (always red them back to front sports first) or read it on Ceefax
For me it was Terry Fenwick,
our club captain had joined Spurs (who I hated, still do ) for 500k I remember reading the Mirror round my nans , and there he was with EL tel and a spurs scarf , I was livid I don't think I slept for 2 nights , I even sent a letter to Jim smith back then LOL
anyone else ??

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

I’ll put this one out there.

The latter part of the 2002/03 season, Richard Langley’s form was superb and he got us into those play off spots with some great goals (the last minute winner at Ninian Park) and back on terms in the first play off semi final leg against Oldham. His Subsequent Red Card in that game was a travesty for him and QPR.

The start of the 2003/04 season Langley was absolutely flying, scoring in the opener against Blackpool who must have been sick of the sight of him by then such was his personal goals tally against them, and an absolute wonder strike against Cheltenham (was it?) in the League Cup first round. I remember thinking this is going to be the season where he rips this division apart and goes on to be an absolute QPR legend. Then he was sold to Cardiff. That was the last time I was genuinely gutted to see a QPR player leave.

I believe that had QPR’s woeful finances not made his sale necessary and he stayed, QPR would have gone up as champions that season and Langley’s career wouldn’t’ have ended up looking quite so modest. A real shame the way that panned out.

ooh yes, i forgot about that. Lennie Lawrence even said he couldn't believe QPR would sell him to them.
That was a sad day.

Also, Cookie to Fulham. That rankled, although I went mental when he was available to loan and he went to...Charlton.

Bare bones.

Rodney, Les and Stan were all inevitable and subject of speculation for years...but sad nevertheless.

Of the others:

Peacock - he was much better and more important than most folk outside QPR realised.
Sinton - why?
Parkes! - again, why?
Trevor - and THAT exchange deal!!
Ryan Nelsen - again though, inevitable

Phil Parkes. Saw him in the crown and Sceptre after we'd lost at home a few weeks after he went. Pity you left I said, could've done with you today.
Nothing to do with me he said. Not my idea.

Surprised no one's mentioned Paul Parker yet.

(The player, not the forum member!)

I did.
Bit gutted with Danny Simpson going, bit like loosing Gorkes.

If there is one negative about the Warnock era that bugged me most was losing Rowlands. Did they have a fall out? I know he was coming back from knee injury but wanted to see a bit more of him in 10/11 promotion season

Phil Parkes and Stan Bowles. Possibly most gutted about Parkes becuase I was a goalkeeper too. I defaced my own QPR are Magic scarf to Tragic when one of them left lol

After that TV and Clive Allen (2nd time). Then probably Simon stainrod and Fenwick.

Les was by far the most gutting in adult times.

More recently Warnock, I was in Thailand at the time and it felt like someone had died. Worst thing was I saw an interview on the TV and somehow thought we'd reappointed Dowie

Peacock, I suppose. I can't remember, really. I think I've always known we were a selling club, but Peacock going was so unnecessary. When I was younger all the great players leaving hurt, but I just thought that that was how it was. The day Peacock left, I knew that there was no need for it. It just made it more tragic, because I knew that that was the future.

Apologies PunteR.

i remember getting off at ilford station after work to discover my ford escort nicked, a jury service demand for the bailey when i got in..then turning on ceefax to discover we had flogged off roy wegerle for about 4 quid to blackburn..pretty sure there was a poll tax demand in there somewhere as well, terrible...

also stainrod to villa, ian stweart to newcastle i think , ..were crushing for a young man in the prime of his life..

as a kid, clive allen and goddard leaving was really upsetting., steve wicks and bobby hazell too.

now i think about it im sure bardsley , peacock and les all facked off oop norf.

bastards!

along with others , truly gutted about how things faded out with langley, martin rowlands, akos and cookie.....all players right up my strada ,and to a lesser extent , my hero of modern times kevin gallen..a great who could have played for england 5o times if not for that fackin injury at porstsmouth.

its been said but that sinclair deal to west ham was the biggest pile of tape worm ridden chestnuts in the history of QPR

Agree with previous posters that although many sales hurt as a selling club they are to be expected but some still hurt a lot, Stan going to Forest (he was the main reason I chose QPR) and selling Goddard the same summer as we sold Clive Allen was terrible. Our attack on the 1st game (Oldham away) was Martyn Busby & Mickie Walsh and we lost.

Wild horses couldn't drag me away...

i remember a guy called dean neal coming in that season(the one following allen and goddards departure) and scoring 6 to eight goals early doors then dissapearing off the face of the earth..

Sir Les. Was only about 9 or 10 when he left. Absolutely devastated!

Sinclair. Gutted again.

I'm an adult now so not really arsed when we sell players these days!

Remy pissed me off though.

I think West Ham have just beaten Newcastle to the club that have pissed us off the most!

Parkes, Goddard & Sinclair. Three players we desperately needed when we sold them.

Players you were gutted to see go on 18:09 - Nov 6 with 1218 viewsqprxtc

The three that stand out for me were Phil Parkes, Gary Bannister and Clive Wilson.

When we sold Parkes I was 8 and 78/79 was my first season going (it could only get better from there). It was a shock for me and I cried, first but not last that Rangers reduced me to tears.

Bannister going was out of the blue and seemingly needless. Another reason to think that Jim Smith was a complete and utter berk. Would loved to have seen Bannister play on grass at Loftus Road.

Wilson going relegated us in 95/96 to my mind. We knew Les was going but losing Wilson tomSpurs was gutting. Francis knew his contract situation and took advantage. Rangers took their eye off the ball.

Can't recall being as gutted about a departure since. Age and cynicism crept in , I suppose.

Stan. I will never forgive Tommy Docherty for that.

And it all comes down to the here and now.
DANNY SIMPSON !!!! What the fcuk was that all about ?Why hell did we sell him ? To our rivals ?

We'll end up selling Austin to pay for Defoe

Football is just a game, so why is it that this thread has genuinely upset me, bringing back a whole series of broken hearts?

All of the above really, but Disco's list is just about perfect for me, we must be the same age.

Wegerle, Stainrod and Stewart all stand out for me because they didn't seem to be offers we couldn't refuse. I'll never understand why a football genius like Gerry Francis didn't make Wegerle and Ferdinand into a striking partnership as good as any in the League [and that at a time when Shearer and Ian Wright were at their peak.]

Goddard and Allen were just as good. Goddard was one of the most underrated players we've ever had IMO
