Enjoyable half.

England solid if uninspiring. Should open up, you'd imagine.

Crowds very subdued expected there to be more noise having seen England's support at Edgbaston in spite of the team getting a mauling

Croatia need Geoff Cameron if they're going to stop Phillips today

Jermaine Jenas "It fell to the wrong person" it's Sterling that strikes a shot that Jonny Wilkinson would've been proud of not good when you are saying that about a forward

Very much like Kyle Walker's showing so far.

Never knowingly understood

Croatia look piss poor now Modric is too old to do his jinks through the middle.

Gone too deep for my liking.

Barely recognised Pickford, looks like he’s lost a couple of stone.

Phillips proved me wrong today him and mount MOTM
Still need to keep the ball better when we are in front

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Walker, Sterling, Phillips, Mings the MOM contenders for me.

Put the kettle on (it’s coming home)

Phillips I thought was a bit of a chancer but had a wonderful game today. MOM for me.

Considering Trippier was asked to play left back as a right footed player I thought he did really well. I can see why Southgate played him because he kind of captained the team in all but arm band. Talked, organised, geed up and encouraged the players all over the pitch. Very impressive.

Never knowingly right.

Agree with all that. Bold move by Southgate but it worked.

Philips has far more game than I realised. Nice left-footed through ball, enough to tip the scales for him as MOTM.

Nice to have a player like Philips capable of some crafty shite housery too

yeah, Phillips very good today, I'll eat some humble pie!
Mings fine, the defence solid as a unit, but they weren't asked to do too much - possibly because of the work done further up the pitch

Most of the earlier comments slagging off Tripier, Phillips (MOTM) and Southgate's selections look a bit silly after the win.

Good start, but plenty of games to go.

Walker? That’s pretty generous of you. First half he couldn’t do anything right, arguably the worst player on the pitch. Much better second but no where near the level to move into MOTM territory. Phillips for me and I’m not his biggest fan.

Walker looked out of sorts to me, although he defended ok, so I wouldn't mind seeing Trippier switch to RB and Shaw come in at LB.

Phillips was very good and the midfield had a nice balance, I initially thought Rice would be the one to push forward with Phillips sitting but Rice did a lot of sitting on the left to support the out-of-position Trippier. What I like about Phillips and Rice is that they're both comfortable on the ball so they can do more than just sit.

Sterling was good, I can't see where Grealish will get a game never mind Sancho.

The big concern was that Kane couldn't get into the game.
